It’s been an hour since the Mane Six woke up after the lucid dream and had breakfast together because they all slept together in the castle. After they were done, Spike picked up the plates, forks and glasses, piled them up and took them to the kitchen to wash them, Twilight’s five friends got up from their chairs and went back to their homes to begin their routines and Twilight decided to go to her room to see if Luna had already woken up.
As Twilight walked in the great hall of the castle, she couldn’t stop remembering Luna’s smile as she slept on the floor on top of two dark purple pillows after they woke up from the lucid dream. She couldn’t help but agree that Luna was cute in her sleep. Actually, Luna was always cute, being asleep or awake.
She opened the light green door with her magic, revealing her room. The wall was dark blue, the floor was dark blue with squares, it had a small bookcase and on top of it there were two pictures and a mirror hanging on the wall and six beds. Her bed was golden in color with a purple blanket with lines and pink pillow, the other beds were brown in color with a tree design but no leaves, the pillow and comforter were pink and the blanket was dark blue and next to her bed there was a phonograph on a side table. Twilight looked at the floor and saw that Luna was still sleeping on the floor with a smile.
Twilight couldn’t help, but smile when she saw Luna sleep so peacefully. How long has it been since Luna slept well? She decided to approach and sit next to Luna to watch her sleep, she really hoped that Luna would not wake up with the sound of her steps. And to her surprise, when she sat down, Luna didn’t wake up. Well, Luna didn’t wake up either because she and the others had talked in the room and left the place to have breakfast together, maybe that meant that Luna had a heavy sleep.
Twilight started to remember when Luna confessed to her and her friends that she created Tantabus for it to create nightmares so she wouldn’t become Nightmare Moon again. Inside, she felt sorry for her, since Luna, her own marefriend was even crying because she thought her subjects would never forgive her for what she did as Nightmare Moon. But thankfully, in the end, Luna managed to forgive herself, and all thanks to the help of her and her friends. Now, Luna would have a much more peaceful sleep than the previous ones, and that made her happy.
Then, she lay down and wrapped Luna with her hooves with the intention of cuddling her and making Luna feel even more comfortable while sleeping. She wasn’t worried that Luna might wake up because she hasn’t woken up at any time until now, either by the voice of her and her five friends, the sound of footsteps or even the door opening. The hug Twilight was giving was very cozy.
She decided to take advantage of this quiet moment to talk to Luna while she slept, as much as she knew that Luna was not going to answer her back. “Luna, me and the others just finished having breakfast. We all eat pancakes, but that was an hour ago, they have already left the castle and they must have probably arrived at her houses already. Honestly, I never imagined that five years after your return to rule with Celestia, you were so depressed and full of guilt for what you did in the past that you wanted to create Tantabus. I know that when I saw you at Nightmare Night you were sad that everypony ran away from you, but I never imagined that even after that night was over and everypony liked you, whenever you went to sleep, you always had the same nightmare every night.”
The purple alicorn soon let out a breath sadly. “I know that you confessed to us that the reason you created it was because you felt guilty about everything you did to your subjects with Nightmare Moon, and I feel sorry for you, Luna,” but she quickly smiled. “Good thing, that you managed to forgive yourself, right? At first, I didn’t understand why you never told me about how you felt about your past, because like, we’ve been together for five years, or then why you haven’t told Celestia since she’s yours sister. But now, I could see why you didn’t do this: you thought you were doing the right thing for yourself. You thought that if you did that, you would be able to prevent yourself from becoming Nightmare Moon a second time.”
Twilight started caressed Luna with her head. “Luna, you don’t have to torture yourself about the past, hide or keep what you feel from others. There are many ponies out there who have truly forgiven you for what you have done and are willing to give you a second chance, and will always be with you in difficult times, and one of these ponies includes me. I will always be by your side, even if no one else is. Do you remember Nightmare Night? I was by your side when no one else was. And after that, we regularly send letters to each other. You even went out on the balcony of my old library to talk, study astronomy and watch the stars together,” Twilight looked to the side and a tear came out of her eye just remembering her old home. “Good times…”
But she quickly wiped away the tear and looked at Luna again. “When I first laid eyes on you, it wasn’t out of interest like most other ponies did, but it was because you were beautiful, I had fun during Nightmare Night with you and you always spent the nights with me while I was out on the balcony at night. You are one of the only ponies besides me that stays up at night. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about staying up all night awake, but nothing like a good coffee doesn’t work.”
Twilight stopped hugging Luna, but just looked at her with a smile. “And now, Luna, here we are. We are together as marefriends. You will always be important to me,” Twilight kissed Luna on the forehead, even though she knew that Luna wouldn’t feel anything while she slept.
Twilight was about to get up to grab a book from her bedroom bookcase to read next to Luna, but she soon felt hooves wrap around her. Her ears perked up, she looked ar Luna and realized that who was hugging her was Luna. She was out of words, she never imagined that Luna would hug her while she slept.
“Thank you, love ... you are also important to me ...” said Luna as she slept and hugged Twilight with a smile.
Twilight didn’t know what to say about that. She didn’t expect Luna to hear her or move in her sleep. But she soon calmed down and smiled. Well… maybe Luna doesn’t have a heavy sleep as she imagined. She decided to hug Luna back with both hooves. The hug was so comfortable and relaxing that after a few hours, it made Twilight fall asleep in the room, with her hugged next to Luna.
