The second fragment

As Link and Epona moved closer to Mount Everhoof, the air slowly became colder and colder. Upon reaching the foot of the mountain, the cold was next to unbearable. Shivering, Link grabbed the coat and the blanket that Rarity had given him. He threw the coat over his tunic and raised the hood after adjusting the position of his hat. He then draped the blanket over Epona and then put her saddle back on. They began feeling much warmer after a few minutes. Without warning, King Bulblin showed up on Lord Bullbo. Link instinctively readied his hand to draw the Master Sword, but King Bulblin put a hand up to show he meant no harm.

"Ganondorf sent me to guard one of those medallion pieces from you, but you have neutralized the corruption he put on me. I will guide you to where the fragment is."

Link smiled and mounted Epona. The two riders ventured through a snowstorm until they reached a high point that was close to where the fragment was. The fragment was inside a temple built into the peak of Mount Everhoof, but there was a gap between the paths that had filled with snow. King Bulblin crossed first, but the force from Lord Bullbo's hooves hitting the ground caused the snow to collapse. Epona was almost at the chasm when Link saw the snow collapse. His eyes widened in nervousness and he jerked back hard on the reins. When the snow settled, Epona shuddered and gritted her teeth as she took in the sight of the chasm that separated them from the temple.

King Bulblin was about to get a length of rope and throw it to Link, but then he saw Link and Epona backing up from the chasm.

"What is he doing?," King Bulblin asked himself in confusion.

Link moved Epona to the rearmost edge of the ledge and they shut their eyes as he prepared to crack the reins.

"It's a leap of faith," Epona murmured as she visualized what was about to happen.

Link and Epona shot their eyes open at the same time, and Link cracked the reins.

"HYAHH," he cried at the top of his lungs.

Epona let out an ear-piercing whinny and began galloping with all of her might. Link's face tightened into a snarl of determination as they moved closer to the ledge. Epona's hooves came together at the edge, and she pushed as hard as she could with her back legs. She leaped off the cliff and sailed through the air with the wind whistling through her mane. Upon landing on the other side, Epona lost her balance and fell sideways into the snow. Link jumped off so he wouldn't get pinned down. After he stood up, Link dusted himself off and let out a cry of accomplishment. King Bulblin and Lord Bullbo were both astonished at Link and Epona's success.

"THAT WAS QUITE A JUMP," King Bulblin said in a congratulatory manner before Link sent him back to his followers in Hyrule.

Link progressed through the temple until he found the shard frozen in an ice crystal. He slashed the crystal open with a single swing of the Master Sword and picked up the shard. Then, in a dim flash of twilight, Midna materialized and greeted Link.
