Hunter Turned Monster

The Mistake

I panted and ran, cluchjng my stomach. It couldn't end like this. Not while IT was out there. I couldn't save Luna, I couldn't save the Empire, I couldn't stop... I ran, my broken wing hanging limply at my side. This was too much. I just... I though I could be happy. I though I was given time. Tears fell down my face, shining as they crystallized and fell, like all Wyverns do. "I will protect you my child. Even... even if I can't be the one to raise you." I snobbed. This was so unfair! I just wanted to be happy, not not be the guardian. First of equestria, then the dragon kingdom... I made my way to castle everfree, the ruins of what was all around me, but I knew there was one other person in this place, in this rainy night... Celestia.

Present day....

Valstrax looked at her son with a look of defeat, and he looked back, shock, anger, confusion. Before questions could be answered the large dragon said softly, in a quiet, almost inaudible voice. "This was a mistake... I should just leave." She said, walking pasted the still shocked spike as Twilight whimpered and cried. She heard him, her child snap out of it and run to his 'sister.' "And so, once again, you break Magic...." She says to herself as she pushes open the doors and leave.

Once she was out side she grunted and whimpered, feeling a deep well within her churn and start to boil over as with a cry she took off I to the sky, her entire body alight with her crimson glow. Once she was in the sky the rage took over... no, not rage. This was a enraged crimson glow. A comet of destruction. And it looked towards canterlot as a almost demonic voice rasped out of Valstrax. "Celeatia..."

She didn't even see a purple dragon run out, and finding a crystal tear on the ground.

"What have you done?!"

"What I had to! If I didn't do this than who knows what could have-"

"I trusted you! After everything I sacrificed, after all the wounds and pain, after losing almost everything, you do this to me?!"

"You're the monster here! I was just keeping another from being born into this world!"

"Yeah, I'm the monster, ritch coming from the bitch who sent her sister to the moon and murdered my child!"

"He's not dead!"

"Oh right, being in stasis because all the dragon element was ripped from his egg, so much better!"

As Valstrax moved past Spike, the young drake felt something in him. Something that wanted to scream roar, fight. But Twilight's snobs broke him out of it. That feeling could wait, his sister needed him. He ran over and hugged her. "Twilight, are you okay? She didn't hurt you did she?" He asked urgently. "I don't understand, she was so nice when we met earlier..."

Suddenly, wordlessly, Twilight pulled Spike in for a hug. "I-I'm so sorry Spike! I didn't know... I didn't mean to..."

"Its okay twilight, you didn't do anything wrong. She was just being... I don't know." Spike said, trying to help before Twilight put him down.

"Go to her spike." She spoke, a look of confusion on Spike's face. "But-" "I know what she said... But everything she said came from the heart, from love, and not the kind Candace and shining share." Said the alicorn, wiping away her tears with a hoof. "Go to her, and if you are too late... go see Fluttershy. Tell her Mango Echo Alpha Tango... I.... I need to lay down." Spike continued to watch as Twilight stood up, a sad, deadened look in her eyes as she slowly trotted away.

He sighed "I need to talk with Val. I mean, this has got to be a mistake right? I don't even look like her." He said before turning and running to the door, in time to see a boom leave their porch, Valstrax long gone and seemingly heading for canterlot. He sighed before noticing something. I glint of light on the ground as he picked up a glowing, red, tear shaped gem on the ground. The red and black of it swirled with a form of primal beauty, and his stomach growled. "Well... it would hurt to have a snack on the way to Fluttershy's... just wish I could have caught Val, clear up this mess." He sighed before walking down a familiar path, popping the gem in his mouth with a crunch, not seeing as for a moment, his slitted eyes turned blue before back to their green.

Celestia watched as the now shrunken baby dragon sucked on its tail. After all these years, kne of her greatest regrets has come back k to haunt her. The dragon's dragon energy she had extracted and used all those years ago was gone, replaced by a core of pure magic. You could not look at this hatchling and see the silver dragon his mother was, save for his eyes. They shared her same look in them, the look of child like joy in a predators gaze. She felt her chest ache. In the span of a few years, she lost a friend, a sister, and a piece of herself. And now, before her was a reminder of those days. 'As if I needed another one' she thought to herself, looking into a mirror, where not only the moon was in full view, but slitted, dragonic eyes stared back for a moment.

Luna sat up from her spot in bed. She felt something, a pulsing in her chest she had not felt since that faithful day she bonded with Valstrax, and later when she gave into Nightmare. Ignoring her duty of raising the mood, she ran to the window, seeing a second sun in the sky, this one a fast moving angry red. It let out a iconic cry that shook her to her core, filling her with love, admiration, loss, pain, and fury, and she knew who to. "Sister.... what have you done...." Luna said in horror as she felt the truth, and ran out the room, her eyes in slits and an faint red-black aura around her.
