//------------------------------// // Flutters // Story: Flurry Heart // by Buttery Biscuit //------------------------------// Fluttershy left her cottage as she did every day, she needed to go to the market. She always needed to restock the animal's food for the next day. Fluttershy loved being ahead of schedule, but she hated the market. The vendors sometimes pressured her into buying items. Fluttershy did her best to say no, most of the time she just ran away or bought the item. Which she could deal with, but these days she was extra stressed as she had a colt that seemed interested in her. She tried to say no, she did, but he didn't seem to get it. So Fluttershy changed the hours she went to the market and that seemed to work. So she felt a little more confident going out today, she grabbed her purse and trotted out the door. The birds sang as she passed out of the comfort of the woods and into the stress of inner Ponyville. She took a deep breath as she approached the first stall. All she needed was carrots. "Well, isnt it my favorite customer," a vender pony said as he waved to Fluttershy, he always made sure that she got things on sale. She kept all the animals safe, and he would dislike her buying things full price if she didn't have to. "Um hello I'd like some carrots," Fluttershy's heart beat hard, all she had to say was no. It was easy as pie. "We have a sale on those, do you want anything else? We have a sale on cucumbers, hay, and beets." "Um, uh, cucumbers," Fluttershy internally sighed, she didn't need them, but she had them now. She could always make more cucumber based dishes and hope that she used them all. It wasn't that big of a deal. "Anything else?" "Uh, no," Fluttershy said as she looked away from the vender. "Are you sure?" "Uhhh," Fluttershy stated her anxiety started rising even more. "Hello Fluttershy," a male voice said. "Oh hi," no, no, no, it was the colt. Fluttershy started to panic more, she thought she had avoided him successfully. "May I speak to you for a moment?" "I guess so," Fluttershy said, maybe it wouldn't be so bad. She paid the vendor for the veggies and stuffed them into her purse. She could just nicely explain that she wasn't interested and this time he would get it. She followed him into a nearby alleyway. "I have been dropping hints that I like you for a week. I have been patient, now I need to know. Will you be my mare friend?" "Oh uh, I don't think so," Fluttershy said as she slowly backed away from the colt and down the alleyway. She tripped over a rock, accidentally dropping her purse onto the ground. "Is that a yes? Well?!" "Uh" Fluttershy could see her dropped purse by her left hoof, a red whistle stuck out of it. The whistle that Discord and Sombra gave her, she could do this. She was a brave pony with good friends, and she could do this. She grabbed onto it, "NO!" "No? Arnt you single? Why not?" "I said no!" Fluttershy said with force, this was just like the Breezies, her kindness was sending mixed signals. She had to be firm, and if that didn't work. She had her friends to back her up. "I think you should give me some kind of answer as to why." Fluttershy hooves trembled, she brought the whistle to her mouth and blew into it as hard as she could. It made no sound, oh no. Did it not work? "What the Tartarus was that? No what do you mean no? I-" he was cut off by a large creature made of various animal parts. "Yes shy?" Discord said with great concern. He had been watching Flurry but gave her to Sombra as soon as he heard the whistle. "I said no, he won't leave." Fluttershy pointed a shaky hoof to the colt. She didn't even know his name, just that he was mean. She felt so embarrassed about having to call Discord to her side, but she didn't have another choice. She said no, she didn't want to. Discord was powerful, he would make sure she was listened to. "She said no bud, get lost before I make you." Discord said as he got down on all fours. He could feel Fluttershy burrow against him, her muzzle was wet, this colt made her cry, and he would make him regret that. "Oh please, like she belongs to a freak like you." "Fluttershy is a mare not a piece of property. Now beat it, or did you forget who I was?" Discord said as he sported a cruel smile, things levitated off the ground, his eyes glowed a yellowish red, and he reared his claws. "Hurt her and I will bury you," he growled his voice sending chills through any creature listening. It sent the stallion running home instantly. "I'm so sorry," Fluttershy said as she looked up at Discord, "thank you." Fluttershy felt both weak and empowered. She couldn't believe she had to call Discord but she could call him. If this happened again he had her back and that made her feel good. "You have nothing to be sorry for Fluttershy. If he comes back you can call me. You can always call me." Discord stated, he didn't mind taking time out of his day to make sure she was comfortable. Her element was her demise, her kindness often trampled on, even by him at one time. No more, never again would Fluttershy be taken advantage of, not while he was around. "I should have done so sooner," Fluttershy said, it wasn't a sin to depend on him to back her up. He clearly wanted to. She wanted him to. She had the power to say no, she just didn't use it. "Sooner?" Discord asked with a frown. What did she mean by that? "He's been following me around awhile. I tried to avoid him... but oh Discord, I'm so sorry," Fluttershy said as she burrowed into him again. That colt had been so mean to her friend, she couldn't believe the thing he had said. "Oh....it's ok Fluttershy don't cry. Please." Discord's heart crumpled, he had been a last resort. Why was he always the last resort? "How about we prank Rainbow Dash?" His eyes glowed as he brought her to Rainbow Dash who was currently bucking away clouds. Fluttershy sniffled softly, how could he not be upset by what that colt said? Discord snapped his fingers and made one of the clouds un-buck-able. "Look at crazy old Discord, up to no good," he said goofily but Fluttershy just kept sniffling. Rainbow Dash bucked that cloud nine times then noticed Discord, of course, it was him. She was about to go tell him off for pranking her, though she had to admit it was a pretty good one, but still. Then she saw Fluttershy, "Fluttershy, whose butt do I have to kick? Is it Discord's?" "Why would you think that?" Fluttershy said as more tears poured down her face. "Of course not, a mean colt called Discord a freak!" She said as she hugged Discord again. "Fluttershy who cares? His opinion doesn't matter, so don't be sad. It's not like I haven't heard it before. So chin up." Discord said as he patted her head. He thought this was still about her and her feelings. It was a nice surprise that she seemed concerned for him. Concern wasn't often shown for him. "Fluttershy I'm fine, don't worry about it. Look," he said as he snapped his fingers and the cloud he made poured onto Rainbow's head. "Hey!" Rainbow shouted, now peeved that she was drenched in rain. "See Rainbow Dash, more like Rainbow Drenched," Discord was banking on the fact Rainbow cared deeply for Fluttershy and her feelings, so she would help him in his endeavor to cheer her up. A very small, very meek laugh turned into a slightly audible giggle, "Hehe...sorry Dash," Fluttershy said as she smiled at her friend that was pretty funny. Rainbow smiled back, she would let it go this one time. For Fluttershy as she smiled and that's what mattered, though she swore that she would get Discord back for the prank. He loved pranks anyway, they really should go together more often. It would be better if he were on her side for any future prank wars. Fluttershy stopped crying and wiped her tears, "are you really ok?" "Yes, it isn't anything new Fluttershy," Discord said as he ran his claws through her mane, scratching behind her ears. Ponies seemed to love that. "I can kick his but Discord, just point me to him." Rainbow Dash said, "he sounds like he could use a good beating." She said as she flew around in a circle, "in fact you can point me to anyone who calls you freak. I'll defeat them all." Discord scoffed, "That would be a lot of butts Rainbow Dash," He giggled as he pictured Rainbow trying to defeat that many creatures. It would be an amusing scenario. "I'm pretty sure you'd lose," he snorted, the mental image was just too funny. Rainbow did not slow down often, but she did this time as she hovered in the air. Her head tilted as she pondered why that was funny. It sounded like he was bullied to her, like Fluttershy. Well, next time she saw that an ass would be kicked.
