A whole new world

Hello there, my name is Dustin Miller. Allow me to explain myself. First off, I’m a sixteen-year-old, I have red hair, yellow eyes, my attire consists of a short-sleeved, orange an, d white shirt, a red blazer, baggy olive pants and white sneakers.

Now, I know you’re going to think I’m crazy for what I’m about to tell you. Hell, even I would even think that I’ve lost my mind for what I’m about to tell you.

It was a bright and sunny day, and I was riding my back from a friend’s house. But by the time I arrived at my house, I noticed that the place was quiet.

The garage would regularly be having loud noises because of my parents working on some new invention. Hell, I can’t even count how many complaints the neighbors have given to my folks about the loud noises. But after hearing nothing from the house, I felt that something was off. I hopped off my bike bolted into the house.

My heart sank to my stomach when I saw that the house was completely ransacked. The place was a complete mess, there was broken china, thrown furniture, the place was a huge mess.

“Mom? Dad?” I called out frantically, only to get absolutely no reply. I looked on every room, which were all trashed, but found no sign of them. Worry and fear began to fill me.

I then hear a loud thud from the hallway. I slowly began to the hallway to walk my way towards the source of the noise, while also trying to be as quiet as a mouse. Once I reached the source, I didn’t know if I was dreaming or I was going completely crazy.

What I saw was a humanoid robot that was rummaging through stuff, trying to find something. It has a distinctly humanoid appearance in comparison, a pair of long, thin legs that seemed to be designed for agility and speed, was covered in patterns of light and have a green glow inside its head.

It seemed to be looking for something. Whatever it was looking for must be very well hidden if the messes it made were of any indication. Out of fright, I slowly began to back away, but I accidently kicked over a piece of rubble, making the robot stop what it was doing and looked at me. I just froze in total fear, never uttering a sound as the robot aimed a blaster at me.

“Halt! Prepare to be annihilated!” The robot said, its blaster ready to fire.

Nope!’ I thought before running out. I got on my bike and, well to say I was burning rubber would be the understatement of the century. I’m surprised the tires of my bike weren’t on fire by how fast I pedaled down the road. But as I pedaled down the road, I turned to see the robot chasing me with speeds no normal person could ever even dream of achieving.

“There is no escape!” The robot called out to me before chasing me. As the robot chased me, it fired energy blasts at me, but I was quick enough to dodge most of them.

I eventually found an alleyway, so I went down it, desperately trying to find someplace safe to hide from this metalhead. But all I found was a dead end. I know, how convenient.

“Aw, crap!” I swore as the robot teleported to me. Yeah, freaking teleported. “Are you kidding me? This thing can teleport!?”

“Prepare for immediate termin…” The robot said but was suddenly cut off as an energy blast literally blew its head clean off its shoulders, and the rest vanished in a flurry of glowing green flakes. And the source of the blast to find a man in his mid-fifties with grey hair, brown eyes, and slight wrinkles on his face. But what as strange about him is that wearing some weird outfit.

And when I say weird, I mean weird as in something you’d find in an anime or something. He wears a sort of a single black leather hooded coat with a silver zipper and sleeves longer than normal and protruding from the ends of his sleeves are strangely constructed angular projections. He also wears a long, blue cape as well as linear patterned panels on his shoulders.

“Uh…Thanks mister….” I said, unsure if what I was seeing was real or not.

“Allister. My name is Allister.” The man named Allister introduced himself. He then approaches me, making me feel cautious in case he tries something. “Now, I’m certain you’re full of questions, Dustin Miller.” Allister said, shocking me beyond belief.

“How do you know my name?!” How did this guy know my name, anyway? I’ve never seen this dude before in my entire life.

“Now, now. No need to be hasty. I’ll explain everything once we’ve head to someplace safe. No doubt there will be more of those robots.” Allister said to me. I was hesitant at first, but I decided to just roll with it.

“Alright, fine! But this better not be a trick!” I said as Allister lead the way.

Later

After a few minutes of walking, we arrive at what looks like an old garage. But there were computers all over the place, some parts of machinery, seriously, it’s like somebody was working on something here.

“Wow! Somebody needs to do some cleaning around here man.” I said with a whistle.

“Yes, forgive me for the mess.” Allister then turns around to face me. “Now. I assume you have some questions to ask?” Allister said as he sat on a stool, while I just stood in place.

“Yeah. First one you never answered was how do you know my name?” I asked with what little patience I had left. I find my house a mess, my parents mysteriously gone missing, a robot chased my down and some man in a strange uniform saved my ass, definitely been a hell of a day for me.

“Well, I know your parents, Zeke and Lexi Miller.” Allister said, shocking me. They’ve never mentioned about this guy, but again I never asked. I grabbed a nearby chair and took a seat.

“Ok, next question. Just what in God’s name was that metalhead that chased me earlier?” I asked, and Allister nodded.

“That was a Pawn.” Allister said, confusing me.

“A what?” I asked in confusion.

“A pawn. One of many robotic foot soldiers who serve a villainous faction called The Syndicate.” Allister said before rising from the stool to grab a vanilla folder filled with various papers before sitting back down on the stool. “Now, I assume you’re going to ask what The Syndicate is, correct?”

“Pretty much.” I nodded. Allister then hands me the folder.

“In this folder lies the answer to that question.” Allister said as I opened the folder. Inside were various documents, journal notes, blueprints of various devices, but then I noticed a photo of my parents, a younger Allister, and a man with shoulder length hair dressed in a black trench coat.

“The man you see in that photo is the leader of The Syndicate named Ginzo.” Allister said as I closed the folder.

“And as for the Syndicate’s purpose, they simply plan to seize government control over the world.” Allister’s words shocked me, but what he said next would surprise me even further.

“Me and your parents used to work for Ginzo as well. But once we learned of Ginzo’s intent, we grabbed the last thing we’ve made, destroy all files concerning it, and defected.” This information was just so much. I mean, think about it. If you learned that your parents learned that they used to work for some madman, you’d be as speechless as I was right now.

“And I know what you’re going to ask next. “Where are my parents now”, correct?” Allister asked, making me nod. “Well, sadly, I have no clue.” When Allister said this, I was dumbfounded.

“What the hell do you mean you don’t know?! My parents are missing for Christ’s sake, and you’re saying you have no damn clue where they are!?” I yelled before covering my mouth, realizing that I swore. Trust me, swearing can be a bad habit.

“Sorry for the foul language.” I apologized, but Allister just waved his hand.

“No need for apologies. If I were in your shoes, I would react the same way.” Allister said before rising from his seat and walks over to a desk, grabs a small box and walks back to me and sits down.

“In this box is the one thing that will put is the one thing that will bring The Syndicate to their knees.” Allister said before opening the box, revealing a strange device that looked somewhat like a smart watch.

“Whoa.” I was just amazed at how cool the thing looked.

“Remember when I said that your parents and I stole that last thing we’ve mad? Well, this is that device. It’s called the Digitrix.” Allister said, but then I noticed something familiar in the name.

“Wait! Is that thing something like the Omnitrix from Ben 10?” I asked with a raised eyebrow, and Allister nodded.

“Quite the sharp wit you have my boy. Your parents always said you enjoyed the show at a young age.” Allister said with a chuckle.

“Heh, I still enjoy it. That is until the reboot came.” I said with a groan.

“Yes, but back on topic. This device, however, transforms you into beings composed of computer data.” As Allister said this, my interest was raised.

“Wait! You mean like Digimon?” I asked with curiosity.

“In a sense yes. I’m sure you’ve heard of the concept of a digital world before.” Allister said, making me nod. “But what about a digital universe?” As Allister mentioned the word “digital universe”, I was even more interested, while shocked as well.

“Wait, wait! Digital Universe? I’ve never heard of something like that!” I’ve heard of a Digital world, but a digital universe, now that I can guarantee is a topic not a lot of people may have touched on.

“Well, it’s more simply known as Cyberspace. In cyberspace, worlds are known as sites. And throughout cyberspace, there are millions upon millions of digital lifeforms, some that have arisen naturally, and others that were the result of human tampering.” Allister said as he handed me the Digitrix.

“Your parents made this not only as a tool for the Syndicate’s downfall, but also as a way for you to learn about the many digital beings in Cyberspace as well.” As Allister said this, I looked at the Digitrix, feeling a little hesitant upon putting that thing on my wrist. “I know this is all a lot to take in, and on such short notice, but you are the only one that can end the Syndicate’s reign.”

But why me. For god’s sake, I’m a sixteen-year-old Freshman student as High School. Plus, what if the Digitrix has some side effects upon transformation, or what would happen if I were to remain a transformation? A lot of things were going through my mind. But if my parents and Allister made this thing for me, then I suppose I have no choice but to take the mantle. I grabbed the Digitrix and strapped it onto my left wrist.

“You’ve made a wise choice, my boy.” Allister said with a smile filled with compassion. “I know that the Digitrix is in good hands.” Allister’s words made me bashful a bit.

But before anymore could be said. The garage door was broken in, revealing three robots. One was a pawn, but the other two were different.

They looked like a Pawn, but ha a slight insectoid appearance. Additionally, they both have a carapace resembles that of an insect, have two sets of arms; two large, artificial arms at each shoulder in which the weapons are mounted, one being a blaster and the other a sword, a pair of extremely powerful legs that are designed for agility and speed.

“Oh great. Another Pawn and two Gladiators. Get behind me!” Allister said, and I just did as he said. The three robots aimed at Allister.

“You have but one chance to surrender yourselves, or you suffer immediate termination!” The Pawn declared, but Allister looked to me.

“Digitrix! Activate teleportation feature!” Allister said, making the Digitrix beep.

“Accessing feature! State coordinates or name destination!” The Digitrix said, and I was confused.

“Destination – Canterlot High!” Allister said, and the Digitrix beeped again.

“Location found! Commencing teleportation.” The Digitrix said before emitting a blue glow. I stood there in shock as the device began glowing before the glow that first emanated from the center began to expand outward.

“You’ve been warned! Fire at will!” The Pawn declared as it and the two gladiators fired their weapons, only for Allister’s weird claw thing to spin like propellers, deflecting each one. The Digitrix and the section of my arm that it was on both disintegrated as did my hand in a blue circle of energy.

“Allister!” I called in worry, but he looked to me with a reassuring smile.

“Don’t worry about me, Dustin. I’ll catch up in a jiffy.” Allister said

“Are you sure.” I asked, but Allister never answered as he still kept that smile on his face.

I just nodded my head as the energy traveled up my arm, across my body and legs, engulfing my face except for my eyes. Once my body was covered, an explosion was made, creating a blast of energy that knocked the three robots off their feet. Allister stood with a glare on his face.

“Now, it’s just you three junkyards and me.” Allister said to the robots.
