//------------------------------// // 252. I'm Gay, I Know Things // Story: Azure Edge // by Leaf Blade //------------------------------// Twilight’s wings flared out behind her as she stood on the cliff of a mountain high above the Crystal Empire and screamed at the top of her lungs, her dragonic nature making it sound less like the anguished wail of anxiety it was and more like an intimidating roar. “Geez, you’re such a drama queen,” Trixie rolled her eyes and groaned, flicking her claws at Twilight. “Have you met my girlfriend?” Twilight said drolly. “Which one?” “Ha, good point,” Twilight beamed. She was very fortunate to be blessed with the company and friendship of so many amazing women. Twilight sighed. It felt good to be a dragon again openly, and the view from atop the Crystal Mountains was heavenly, and both were going a long way to helping Twilight dig herself out from the heap of depression she’d been buried under these past few days. “How did things go with Maud last night?” Twilight asked. She and Pinkie bailed pretty soon after they said they would, leaving Trixie and Maud alone. Both of them were very good sports about the whole thing, even Trixie was unusually sympathetic, but Twilight wanted to make sure she didn’t leave Trixie in a lurch. “It went fine,” Trixie grumbled. “Did it?” Twilight asked skeptically. “Yes.” “Oh,” Twilight said flatly. She wasn’t convinced, but she could tell Trixie didn’t want to talk about— “It went great! I’m just embarrassed about it okay!” Trixie yelled, flailing her arms around and then covering herself with her wings. “It went better than I could’ve hoped and Maud is so cool and I like her a lot and I really owe you and Pinkie for pushing me to come here and to hang out with her now never talk to me about this or anything ever again.” “Okay,” Twilight smirked and sidled up next to Trixie. “So you want to talk about it or—” “I WILL FLAY YOU ALIVE!” Trixie screeched, Twilight laughing into her hand. “Okay so anyway speaking of talking to people and things, what’s the story with you and that guy Shining Armor that you’re avoiding?” “How did you—” “I’m gay, I know things,” Trixie said flatly. It was kind of ominous, but Twilight supposed she shouldn’t be surprised; despite Trixie’s eccentricities and her relative lack of magical strength, information was something she was never in short supply of. She knew all about the Dragon Lords and their movements, and she was able to track down Twilight no less than three times. She wasn’t someone to underestimate. “Well, if you must know,” truth be told, Twilight actually relished the opportunity to talk to someone about this who wasn’t one of her close friend group; she loved those girls very much, but she needed someone who wouldn’t coddle her emotions. “I’m afraid of talking to my brother.” “Why.” “I…” That was a good question actually. And the answer was almost disgustingly simple. It was because Twilight didn’t want to face the fact that she was still absolutely furious with Shining Armor. She couldn’t believe the cowardice he displayed in letting the dragons fall under the thumb of the Crystal Empire, and if she was being entirely honest? She blamed him for what happened to Sunset Shimmer. “I’m mad at him,” Twilight said. “That’s why I don’t want to talk to him.” “Is it something you can work through with him?” Trixie asked. “I don’t know,” Twilight shrugged. “Then who cares,” Trixie groaned and batted her claw. “If you don’t wanna talk to him, then don’t.” “But I can’t just turn my back on our people like that,” Twilight said desperately, claw over her heart. “I really do want to help everyone live a better life!” “And who says you need to talk to Shingles Armoire for that?” Trixie asked, arching a smug eyebrow. “There’s gotta be plenty of ways you can help, and you don’t gotta feel like you have to do everything. You’d need to have some serious brain worms to think that. “If you can’t talk to Shining Armor, then what can you do to help? Figure that out, and then do that instead. Stop beating yourself up over a conversation that hasn’t happened and doesn’t matter.” That… was a really good point, actually. Everyone had been telling her that she needed to talk to Shining Armor, and she thought that was the right thing to do, so she just resigned herself to it. Especially since he was family, and you weren’t supposed to stay angry with your family, right? But the truth was, she was still angry. She was still furious. And she didn’t want to talk to him. Trying to force herself to wasn’t going to help anyone, and it was keeping her mind too busy to think of ways she could actually help. “Thank you, Trixie,” Twilight said with a bright smile. “You’ve given me a lot to think about.” “Yeah, I’m really smart like that,” Trixie said casually. “It maaaaay be a moot point though.” “Why’s that?” Twilight asked confusedly, and Trixie just pointed in the direction behind Twilight, who slowly turned her head and saw a massive silver dragon standing on the cliffs beside them, looking Twilight dead in the eyes. “Oh.” “Long time no see,” Shining Armor said, “Twily.”
