Turquoise was walking along Route 16 and arrived in front of a place called Cycling Road. Before Turquoise could proceed any further she was stopped by someone at the gate.

“ I’m sorry young lady but you need a bike to travel on the Cycling Road,” The man at the gate said.

“ Darn I left mine at home. By any chance is there anywhere where I can buy or rent one?” Turquoise asked.

“ I’m afraid not but if you’re trying to get to Fuchia City there is another path you can take however it will take longer for you to get there then by the Cycling Road,” The man said.

“ Guess I have no choice. Where is this path?” Turquoise asked.

“ Just follow that road over there and you should be in Stone Town in no time,” The man said while pointing to a side road leading into the woods. Turquoise went on that path and as she was walking she ran into what looked like a small blue and black anthropomorphic jackal with sharp red eyes. Before Turquoise could pull out her Pokedex a girl with rainbow-colored hair wearing a black tank top with fuchsia shorts and matching sneakers along with her giant tortoise-like creature with cannons on its back came in like they were battling it.

“ Out of the way that Riolu is mine,” The girl said before Riolu used some powerful move to blast the tortoise and escape. “ Darn it he got away again.

“ Sorry I didn’t mean to get in your way,” Turquoise apologies.

“ It’s fine you could not have known. I’m Rainbow Dash by the way,” Rainbow said.

“ Nice to meet you I’m Turquoise,” Turquoise said before pulling out her Pokedex.

“ Blastoise. The Shellfish Pokemon. The rocket cannons on its shell fire jets of water capable of punching holes through thick steel,” The Pokedex said.

“ I see you love to study Pokemon as much as a certain egghead I know,” Rainbow said.

“ You mean Twilight right?” Turquoise asked to Rainbow’s surprise.

“ How did you know?” Rainbow asked.

“ We met in Viridian City when I started my journey and she told me you got her into Gym Battles,” Turquoise said.

“ If you know her does that mean you also know the rest of my friends?” Rainbow asked.

“ If you mean Rarity, Applejack, and Fluttershy than yes I do,” Turquoise said.

“ I see so where are they now?” Rainbow asked.

“ Back in Celadon City for Twilight’s Gym Battle against Erika,” Turquoise said.

“ So does that mean you won your Rainbow Badge already?” Rainbow asked.

“ Sure did,” Turquoise said while showing Rainbow her badges. As they were talking the Riolu from earlier came up to them looking for a battle and was challenging Turquoise this time.

“ You want a battle then bring it. Go Espeon,” Turquoise said as she called out Espeon who looked raring to go. Riolu charged at Espeon while punching rapidly with his fists glowing red. “ Espeon use Confusion. Espeon’s eyes glowed blue as Riolu was lifted off the ground and then slammed onto the ground. While Riolu was still down Turquoise pulled out a Pokeball “ Go Pokeball. The ball made contact with Riolu and captured him. The ball shock a little before Riolu broke out wanting some more. “ You got spirit I like that then let’s keep going. Riolu charged at Espeon with the same move he used to beat Blastoise.

“ Watch out for that Force Palm it’s pretty powerful,” Rainbow said.

“ I know I already saw it in action,” Turquoise said. Espeon dodged the attack and awaited Turquosie’s next move. “ Espeon use Psybeam. Espeon fired a beam of energy at Riolu who was hit by it and managed to survive the hit just barely. “ Let’s try this again go Pokeball. Turquoise threw her Pokeball and this time Riolu fist-bumped it before going inside. After shaking for a bit it clicked which made Turquoise excited. “ I just caught a Riolu. Suddenly the Pokeball vanished. “ What happened?

“ Hey, Turquoise how many Pokemon do you have on your Team so far?” Rainbow asked.

“ Six,” Turquoise said.

“ Well, there is the problem Riolu was your seventh catch and the rules say Trainers are permitted to carry no more than six Pokemon at a time on their journey so Riolu was transported to the place where you got your Pokedex from,” Rainbow said.

“ So your saying Riolu is now back at Professor Oak’s Lab?” Turquoise asked.

“ If that is where you got your Pokedex from than yes,” Rainbow said. Turquoise and Rainbow kept walking until the arrived outside of the forest and on to the outskirts of a town at the foot of a mountain. After entering the town Turquoise and Rainbow arrived at the Pokemon Center where Turquoise decided to use the vidphone to call Professor Oak. Before Turquoise could make the call Rainbow asked if she could see the rest of Turquoise’s pokemon.

“ Sure, Come on out everyone,” Turquoise said while throwing all of her Pokeballs.

“ Wow, you have a Venusaur, Espeon, Ninetails, Corviknight, Trapinch, and Zorua. Such an impressive lineup,” Rainbow said.

“ Thank you now I have a call to make,” Turquoise said before recalling all her Pokemon and dialing up Professor Oak. After a few rings, Professor Oak appeared on the screen.   

“ Ah, Turquoise it’s so good to see you. How is your journey going?” Professor Oak asked.

“ Pretty good so far I have four badges and three ribbons,” Turquoise said.

“ That’s wonderful and I can assume your calling to see if your Riolu is ok?” Professor Oak asked.

“ I am,” Turquoise said.

“ Riolu is doing great he is a very energetic pokemon,” Professor Oak said before turning the camera to show Turquoise’s Riolu doing some arm thrusts.

“ Is it possible for you to send him to me?” Turquoise asked.

“ I can but since you already have a full team you will need to exchange one of your other pokemon. If I recall your mom told me you caught a Rookidee with unique coloring,” Professor Oak said.

“ You mean my Corviknight sure,” Turquoise said as she placed Corviknight’s Pokeball on the tray. After being zapped and absorbed by the tube above it another Pokeball came out and Turquoise grabbed it. As soon as Rainbow was ready she and Turquoise decided to explore the town.

“ Any idea where we are?” Rainbow asked before Turquoise looked it up.

“ It saids we are in Stone Town,” Turquoise said which made Rainbow excited.

“ We made it to Stone Town that is awesome now I can find the Master of Mega Evolution,” Rainbow said which confused Turquoise.

“ What is Mega Evolution?” Turquoise asked.

“ I know a little about it but I think its best you hear about it from the master,” Rainbow said. After asking around the girls were directed to a tower near the end of town. After going inside Turquoise and Rainbow ran into a man with white hair wearing a grey sweatshirt with matching pants. “ Are you the Mega Evolution Master?

“ Sure am the name is Gurkinn,” Gurkinn said.

“ I’m Rainbow Dash,” Rainbow said.

“ and I’m Turquoise,” Turquoise said. 

“ And we came to learn about Mega Evolution,” Rainbow said.

“ I see, well ladies I must warn you Mega Evolution is not meant for all Pokemon and only Pokemon that share a strong connection with their Trainer can achieve this power,” Gurkinn said. “ First let me tell you girls about the origin of Mega Evolution. Mega Evolution was first discovered in my home Region of Kalos and over the years it has spread to other regions as well. A few years ago some miners working the stone mines of Evolution Mountain stumbled across the mother of all motherloads of Mega Stone Ore so after hearing of the discovery I left my Grandaughter in charge of the Tower of Mastery and moved here to build the Tower of Trust.

“ Very nice so what do we have to do to Mega Evolve our Pokemon?” Rainbow asked which annoyed Gurkinn a bit.

“ Patients Rainbow, This is not a power you can just master overnight, why it took my Grandaughter sometime before she and her Lucario were able to control it. First, let me see all of your Pokemon,” Gurkinn said. Turquoise called out all of her Pokemon first which Gurkinn was impressed with. “ I can sense you and your Venusaur are very close. Tell me is this your first ever journey?

“ It is I just started five months ago,” Turquoise said.

“ Impressive and I can sense potential in your Riolu as well,” Gurkinn said.

“ I just got Riolu today so I’m not sure we are tight enough yet,” Turquoise said.

“ In time you will be but for now your Venusaur is ready for the test now Rainbow let me see your Pokemon. Rainbow pulled out two Pokeballs and threw them thus calling forth her Blastoise and an eagle-like creature. Turquoise Pulled out her Pokedex to learn about it.

“ Braviary, The Valiant Pokemon. Known for its bravery and pride, this majestic Pokémon is often seen as a motif for various kinds of emblems,” The Pokedex said.

“ I can see you and your Blastoise are very close. You two have been through many battles and hardships,” Gurkinn said.

“ We sure have Blastoise and I have been through a lot together,” Rainbow said.

“ Than your ready for the test as well,” Gurkinn said.

“ What is the test?” Turquoise and Rainbow asked in unison.

“ On the other side of Evolution Mountian are many caves that contain the ore needed to create mega stones for pokemon. Turquoise your test lies in the Cave of flowers and Rainbow your test lies in the cave of defense. However, both of you are only allowed to use the Pokemon I said are ready which means Turquoise can only use Venusaur and Rainbow can only use Blastoise. I wish you the best of luck,” Gurkinn said before Turquoise and Rainbow left. As soon as they were gone Gurkinn call forth two of his disciples. “ You two know what to do. Cinder you have the Cave of Flowers and Jet you have the Cave of Defense. The Two Disciples took the secret passages to their designated test sites.





Sometime later Turquoise and Rainbow arrived on the other side of Evolution Mountain and found a bunch of caves.

“ Which one is which?” Rainbow said. Suddenly Venusaur and Blastoise felt something was calling to them and pointed their trainers to the correct caves for their trials. “ How can you tell that is the right cave Blastoise?

“ I think its the mega stone Ore that is calling them,” Turquoise said. Before they entered the pitch-black caves Turquoise and Rainbow pulled out one of the lanterns Twilight gave them and then lit them. Turquoise and Venusaur trod lightly through the cave in case something was waiting to ambush them. Sometime later Turquoise and Venusaur found a pair of metal doors and opened them. Behind the doors as a room with luminescent water and a pedestal with a chunk of green and purple ore on it. As soon as they entered the room the doors closed and a red and yellow warrior looking creature came down ready to protect the Ore. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex.

“ Blaziken. The Blaze Pokemon. Blaziken has incredibly strong legs-it can easily clear a 30-story building in one leap. This Pokémon's blazing punches leave its foes scorched and blackened,” The Pokedex said. After looking at the ore and then back at Turquoise it became clear what Blaziken was saying.

“ So if we want the ore we have to defeat you in battle is that right?” Turquoise asked with Blaziken nodding yes. “Then we accept your challenge. As soon as Venusaur took his position the battle started. Blaziken made the first move with its fists covered in or fire as it kept hitting Venusaur. “ Venusaur use Petal Blizzard. Venusaur unleashed his Petal Blizzard which sent Blaziken back a few feet. Blaziken then leaped into the air with its feet on fire before kicking Venusaur. “ Use your flower to grab it then throw it back. As Blaziken was about to land a powerful kick Venusaur suddenly used his flower to trap it and then shot it back while covered in Leech Seed.

“ Well done trainer you and your Venusaur have passed the trial,” A woman said as she walked out from behind a pillar. “ Blaziken you were great now take a nice long rest. After recalling Blaziken the woman introduced herself as Cinder and how she was assigned to oversee Turquoise’s trial. After acquiring the Venusaurite Turquoise and Venusaur left the cave.





Meanwhile in the Cave of Defense Rainbow and Blastoise were facing a similar trial only this time against a Sceptile. After using his Ice Punch to freeze Sceptile Jet came out to congratulate Rainbow on passing the trail.

“ Sceptile you did great now rest. Rainbow Dash you passed the trial now go and claim your Blatoisinite,” Jet said as Rainbow took the Ore off the pedestal and left the cave along with her Blastoise.





After both girls exited the caves they went back to Stone Town to show Gurkinn the proof of them passing their trials. As soon as they returned to the Tower of Trust Gurkinn was impressed with Turquoise and Rainbow.

“ You girls passed the test and so here is your reward,” Gurkinn said as he gave both of them a keystone. “ That is called a keystone it is needed to activate the power of Mega Evolution.

“ So do we just pull it out of our bags or is there a certain way to use it?” Rainbow asked.

“ The Keystone is embedded into something so a trainer can have easy access to it. If you have something you want to embed it in I can do it,” Gurkinn said. After hearing that Turquoise pulled out a pendant shaped like a crescent moon with rubies on it.

“ This was my grandmother’s pendant I carry it with me for good luck. Do you think this will work?” Turquoise asked.

“ That will work nicely,” Gurkinn said before asking Rainbow if she had anything she wanted her Keystone embedded in. Rainbow pulled out her favorite wrist band and handed it to Gurkinn. After giving Gurkinn the items to work with he went to his workshop to embed the Keystones. Sometime later he came back and gave Turquoise and Rainbow their Keystones back. “ Now for your next test, you must battle each other with your mega evolved pokemon and see if you can control the power. After moving to the battlefield Blastoise and Venusaur were holding the Ore they got from the caves. After everyone was ready Turquoise and Rainbow reached for their Keystones.

“ My mighty flower of strength, Mega Evolve,” Turquoise said as she touched her Keystone and watched as Venusaur began to glow while the flower on his back grew some more and another flower bloomed on his forehead. As soon as the light died down Venusaur’s skin turned a slightly darker shade along with his flower getting bigger with vines beneath it.

“ My great wall of defense and power, Mega Evolve,” Rainbow said as she touched her Keystone and caused Blastoise to glow and cause Blastoise to glow and grow slightly bigger with the cannons on its back moving to its arms and a new cannon growing from the center of its shell. After the light faded Blastoise now had three cannons.

“ Now that both sides are ready, let the battle begin,” Gurkinn said.

“ Blastoise lets start with Ice Punch. Blastoise charged at Venusaur with a fist covered in ice and nailed Venusaur who looked like he was not affected by it that much. Suddenly Venusaur began to look like it was mad.

“ Venusaur relax and use Petal Blizzard. Venusaur suddenly calmed down and unleashed his Petal Blizzard which was stronger than before.

“ Impressive but let’s see how you handle this. Blastoise use Water Pulse. Blastoise fired a powerful sphere of water from the cannon on its back which traveled at an incredibly fast velocity and nailed Venusaur for some heavy damage.

“ What was that just now?” Turquoise asked as she pulled out her Pokedex for an explanation.

“ Mega Launcher. This ability increases the power of all Aura and Pulse moves by 50%,” The Pokedex said.

“ In that case, Venusaur use Seed bomb. Venusaur fired his Seed Bomb and managed to nail Blastoise for some good damage.

“ Let’s end this, Blastoise use Hydro Cannon. Blastoise focused all three of its cannons on Venusaur and fired three powerful blasts of water that combined into one powerful blast that not only nailed Venusaur but also caused him to faint while reverting to normal.

“ Venusaur is unable to battle Blastoise is the winner which means Rainbow Dash wins the match,” Gurkinn said.

“ We did it,” Rainbow said as Blastoise reverted to normal.

“ You girls still have some work to do but I can say you both passed this test too,” Gurkinn said to Turquosie’s confusion.

“ But I lost the battle,” Turquoise said.

“ The point of that battle wasn’t about winning or losing. The point was to determine how you and your pokemon handle Mega Evolution. Turquoise I noticed your Venusaur has some anger issues over being hit and Rainbow I sense your Blastoise is a tad overconfident in its newfound abilities. I suggest you two work on those issues as you continue your journeys but for now, let’s get your pokemon fitted for their mega stones,” Gurkinn said as he took Turquoise and rainbow to a shop that specializes in Mega Stones and Mega Stone apparel.

“ What can I do for you ladies?” The shopkeeper asked.

“ We have some ore that needs refinement,” Gurkinn said as Turquoise and Rainbow put their ore on the counter. Sometime later The shopkeeper came back with freshly cut Mega Stones then told Turquoise and Rainbow to call out their Pokemon. After calling out Blastoise and Venusaur the shopkeeper began measuring them and came back with a metal band that wraps around the stock of Venusaur’s flower and a Chest plate for Blastoise. After embedding the Mega Stones into them Turquoise and Rainbow helped put them on their Pokemon.

“ Those are made from a very special alloy that will merge with your Pokemon as they Mega Evolve and maintain their original shape when reverting to normal,” The Shopkeeper explained.

“ Cool so how much do we owe you?” Rainbow asked.

“ Let’s see the cost for refinement of mega stones is 2000 Poke dollars each and the armor and band are both 1000 Poke dollars so 6000 poke dollars,” The shopkeeper said after adding everything up. Rainbow checked her pockets and bag and noticed she barely had any. Turquoise agreed to spot her this time and told Rainbow to battle more often to earn her own money. After getting their Pokemon equipped with their mega stones Turquoise and rainbow returned to the Pokemon center to heal their Pokemon and call it a day.
