Chapter 2: A Talk With Rainbow

Rainbow Dash was enjoying her nap on one of the stray clouds above the small Earthpony town when she heard somepony call her name. She looked over the cloud's edge to see the three crusaders below her. She smiled and gently flew down to stand in front of the three fillies.

"Hey girls. What's up?" Scootaloo stepped forwards the mare.

"We were wondering if you could help us with something? Can you do that?" Dash smiled.

"I'm all ears kid. What do you need?" Sweetie Belle stepped forward.

"Well we were wondering if you could help us find Scoots'birth mom. All we know is that Scootaloo was born in Cloudsdale but was brought here to Ponyville. We guessed that maybe if Scoot was brought here, maybe her mom moved here too. Do you think you know anything that could help us?" All the blood drained from Rainbow's face. They were trying to find Scootaloo's birth mom. She didn't tell anypony that the little pegasus was her daughter. The mare had kept it hidden for so long and didn't want anypony to find out the truth about her. Rainbow swallowed the lump in her throat. How could she managed to deal with this?

"Umm. Are you really sure you want to do that? I don't want to sound rude in any way but, what if your mom left you for a reason? Like maybe you were made by an accident and she was forced to do it and had to agree to leave you? Or maybe she doesn't want you to find her. Okay maybe I'm being very rude now. Sorry. I'm no help here." She looked down at the fllies who stared at her. Their expressions were readable.

"Do you really think that? Could that be possible? That she didn't want me? Or that she gave me away on purpose?" Scootaloo's eyes clouded over. Realizing what she had said, Rainbow pulled the younger pegasus closer to her into a hug.

"Sorry, Scoot. I didn't realize how strong those things were. I shouldn't have said them." Scootaloo broke the hug.

"But you could be right. Maybe one of those things is the reason why she left me or gave me away." Rainbow ran a hoof through the filly's mane in a soothing manner.

"I doubt that." Scootaloo looked up at the Daredevil who smiled down at her. A kind, caring smile she rarely showed. Scootaloo snuggled in closer to the mare with a smile on her face. "Great job, Scoots. You're making me sappy." Scootaloo looked back up and giggled. Dash snorted. They separated from the hug and stood up." Alright kid. I need to take care of some things that are important. See you three later." She took off into the air and waved goodbye. The three fillies waved in response.
