As Turquoise and her friends continue towards Celadon City they suddenly got hit by a huge gust of wind. As soon as the wind died down They saw a battle between two boys with a Pidgey and a Spearow but what was different about this kind of battle was that instead of just attacking each other they were fighting over possession of a small ring. After the Spearow snatched the ring it took it to a hook on a pole that was in the center of the field.

“ Looks like I win again,” The boy with brown hair and yellow eyes said.

“ Darn You too good at this Phil,” The boy with blue hair and blue eyes wearing glasses said.

“ You would be too if you learn to read the wind patterns more Josh,” Phil said. As they were talking Turquoise and the girls inquired about what they were doing just now.

“ Have you girls ever heard of Pokeringer?” Phil asked.

“ Never heard of it,” Turquoise said.

“ Its a competition between flying-type pokemon where the goal of the game is to capture this ring and bring it to one of the hooks on the goal post while fighting off your opponent,” Josh explained.

“ You girls are in luck they are having a competition today,” Phil said.

“ Before you enter do any of you have Flying-Type Pokemon on you,” Josh asked.

“ I have my Corvisquire,” Turquoise said.

“ Perfect and the rest of you?” Phil asked.

“ I have none,” Applejack said.

“ Me either,” Fluttershy said.

“ I don,t have any either,” Rarity said.

“ I have a Dartrix does that count?” Twilight asked.

“ It sure does,” Josh said.

“ So will you two be entering as well?” Turquoise asked.

“ Not us, we are no match for most of these guys,” Phil said. The girls proceeded further into the town ahead and noticed a group of people gathered by a table. Turquoise and Twilight approached the crowd.

“ Is this where we sign up for the Pokeringer Competition?” Turquoise asked.

“ Indeed it is ms we have two spots left are you entering?” The man asked.

“ I sure am and so is my friend,” Turquoise said.

“ Excellent just sign your name and the pokemon you will be entering with,” The man said as Turquoise signed her name along with her Corvisquire. Twilight did the same along with her Dartrix.

“ All right everyone registration is now closed so if you’re not in the competition I suggest you either enter the stands to watch or leave if you’re not here to watch,” The man said as the crowd began to disperse. “ Follow me ladies and we shall get you two ready to fly. After taking Turquoise and Twilight to the back where the competitors are the man in charge of registration showed them a huge supply of hot air balloons that all looked like pokemon.

“ What are the hot air balloons for?” Twilight asked.

“ I take it this is your girl’s first time competing in a Pokeringer Competition?” The man asked.

“ It is,” Turquoise said.

“ Well allow me to explain the rules. You and your Pokemon will be battling at high altitude so the balloons are to keep you and your Pokemon close enough to give commands. Also, each match won,t start until both trainers reach 1000 feet which will be indicated by the jumbotron. You are only allowed to attack the other trainer’s pokemon and the ring. Attacking or damaging the other trainer’s balloon will result in disqualification,” The man said making sure Turquoise and Twilight understand the rules. “ So now that we have the rules covered choose your Balloons. Twilight picked a Charmander shaped one while Turquoise picked an Eevee shaped one. Sometime later the MC for the competition took the stage and took the mic.

“ Welcome everyone to the seventh annual Gustville Pokeringer Competition. We have thirty-two contestants competing for honorary citizenship in our fair town and a year supply of pokemon food. And so without further ado, let’s see which two trainers will be facing off first. The Many squares on the jumbotron spun around before two of them stop and grew before flipping revealing the trainers for the first battle. “ Looks like the first battle is between Team Robin and Team Rick. A  Snivy shaped balloon and a Hoppip shaped balloon suddenly rose from out of the open doors and the jumbotron switched to a line with the balloons rising. After a smaller balloon carrying the ring was released as soon as it reached the starting altitude the match began.

“ Go Jumpluff,” Robin said as a blue creature with cotton-like arms and antenna glided into battle.

“ Go Scyther,” Rick said as Scyther flew into battle. “ Use Quick Attack to get that ring. Scyther flew really fast and snatched the ring.

“ What kind of Pokemon is that?” Turquoise asked while pulling out her Pokedex.

“ Jumpluff. The Cottonweed Pokemon. Blown by seasonal winds, it circles the globe, scattering cotton spores as it goes,” The Pokedex said.

“ Jumpluff use Acrobatics and take the ring from Scyther. Jumpluff moved nimbly and managed to snatch the ring from Scyther which shocked Scyther. Suddenly a strong gust of wind began to blow from above and sent Jumpluff crashing down which caused it to drop the ring and for Scyther to snatch it again and throw it at the hook which caused it to land successfully and a huge GOAL image with flashing effects appeared on the jumbotron.

“ And it looks like Team Rick moves on to the next round,” The MC said. Turquoise was surprised to see Rick competing in this competition as well. The other matching went on until it was Twilight’s turn. “ And for our fifth match, we have Team Twilight vs Team Flitter. Twilight and her opponent who was a girl with long light blue hair with a dragonfly-like pokemon hovering next to her flew out. As soon as the ring reached the starting altitude the match began.

“ Go Dartrix,” Twilight said as Dartrix flew for the ring.

“ Go Yanmega,” Flitter shouted as Yangega flew faster. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex like she always does with new pokemon.

“ Yanmega. The Ogre Darner Pokemon.  The beat of its wings is so powerful that it accidentally dislodges full-grown trees when it takes off in flight,” The Pokedex said. Yanmega managed to beat Dartrix to the ring thanks to its Speed Boost ability. Flitter suddenly felt a breeze coming in from the east.

“ Yanmega ride the wind. Yanmega rode the wind and descended higher.

“ Dartrix use Pluck. Dartrix charged at Yanmega with a boost from a sudden updraft and snatched the ring from Yanmega. After grabbing the ring Dartrix nosed dived towards the goal. Yanmega did the same and even flew past Dartrix to intercept him only for a sudden gust of wind to push Yanmega out of the way. Dardrix successfully hooked the ring and won the match. The rest of the matches continued until finally, it was Turquoise’s turn.

“ And now the final match of the first round will be between Team Turquoise and Team Lightning Dust. As Turquoise and Corvisquire were descending A girl with orange hair with yellow highlights and her big hawk-like creature followed. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex to learn more.

“ Staraptor. The Predator Pokemon. The muscles in its wings and legs are strong. It can easily fly while gripping a small Pokémon,” The Pokedex said. As soon as the ring reached the starting altitude the match began.

“ Go Corvisquire,” Turquoise said as Corvisquire flew like a bullet.

“ Go Staraptor,” Lightning said as Staraptor flew equally as fast. Staraptor managed to snatch the ring first.

“ Corvisquire use Drill Peck. Corvisquire charged at Staraptor with his beak spinning and managed to cause Staraptor to drop the ring. Corvisquire dived for the ring which, Lightning did not like.

“ Staraptor use Close Combat on Corvisquire. Staraptor began punching and kicking at Corvisquire who managed to endure it before hitting back and grabbing the ring. After grabbing the ring Corvisquire hooked it and won the match. After landing the sixteen trainers who made it to the second round were displayed on the screen. Turquoise, Rick, and Twilight fought their way through the rest of the competition until it came down to the final four.

“ And now its time to see what our first match of the semi-final will be,” The MC shouted before the four squares circled and two of them came up and flipped revealing Turquoise and a man with blue hair and blue eyes. “ And it looks like it will be Team Turquoise vs last years champions Team Falkner. As Turquoise and Falkner were ascending Turquoise took this moment to use her Pokedex to learn more about Falkner’s partner.

“ Pidgeot.The Bird Pokemon. It spreads its gorgeous wings widely to intimidate enemies. It races through the skies at Mach-2 speed,” The Pokedex said.

“ I commend you for getting this far but now your up against the master of Flying-Types,” Falkner said.

“ We won,t let you win that easily,” Turquoise said.

“ Now that is what I like to hear,” Falkner said. As soon as the ring reached the starting altitude the match began.

“ Go Pidgeot,” Falkner said as Pidgeot took off at top speed.

“ Go Corvisquire,” Turquoise said as Corvisquire also took off but not as fast as Pidgeot.

“ Time for your first lesson on Flying-type Battles when the wind is not blowing make your own. Pidgeot use Tailwind. Pidgeot suddenly created a huge tailwind behind itself making it fly faster. “ Now grab the ring. Pidgeot grabbed the ring and dove towards the goal. Just when things were looking hopeless Turquoise felt a huge updraft coming.

“ Corvisquire use Drill Peck and ride the wind. Corvisquire rode the wind and moved equally as fast as Pidgeot while delivering a Drill Peck that hit like a ton of brinks which caused Pidgeot to release the ring. Corvisquire then grabbed it before Pidgeot recovered.

“ Not bad you even used the wind to your advantage but now things get serious. Pidgeot use Quick Attack. Pidgeot charged at Corvisquire.

“ Corvisquire keep riding the wind and head for the goal. Corvisquire managed to dodge Pidgeot’s attack and then nose-dived for the goal. Corvisquire and Pidgeot kept bumping into each other until Corvisquire hit the ring with his wing and caused it to hook onto the goal thus winning Turquoise the match. As soon as Turquoise and Falkner landed Falkner approached Turquoise.

“ Turquoise that was an impressive battle,” Falkner said.

“ Thanks,” Turquoise said.

“ Have you ever thought of entering the Jhoto League?” Falkner asked.

“ I may think about doing so in the future,” Turquoise said.

“ Well if you do feel free to swing by my gym in Violet City for a rematch,” Falkner said before taking his leave. Turquoise met up with her friends in the stands to watch Twilight’s match.

“ Glad you can make it to see Twilight’s match,” Fluttershy said.

“ I just hope Twilight is prepared to handle Rick’s Scyther,” Turquoise said.

“ Is there anything you can tell us about it, darling?” Rarity asked.

“ I know its fast I know its powerful and I know once it’s down to a third of its health its swarm ability kicks in which raising the power of its bug-type moves,” Turquoise said.

“ So does that mean Twilight does not stand a chance?” Applejack asked.

“ I never said that she should be able to beat Scyther if she strikes at it quickly,” Turquoise said. As soon as Turquoise said that the match began with both Pokemon clashing with each over while ring remained untouched. After breaking free from Scyther’s grasp Dartrix grabbed the ring and tried to make a quick dash for the goal only to be hit by Scyther’s X-scissor attack thus knocking Dartrix out and winning Rick the match.

“ You did well Dartrix now let’s join the others in the stands and cheer Turquoise on,” Twilight said. After returning to the stands Turquoise left for her station to board her hot air balloon for the final match.

“ And now Ladies and Gentlemen it is time for the final match Team Rick vs Team Turquoise,” The MC shouted as both Turquoise and Rick ascended. As soon as the ring reached the starting altitude the final match began.

“ Go Corvisquire,” Turquoise said as Corvisquire flew towards the ring.

“ Go Scyther,” Rick said as Scyther also flew towards the ring. Scyther managed to snatch the ring. “ Scyther use Focus Energy. Scyther began to focus his energy until Turquoise reacted.

“ Corvisquire use Taunt. Corvisquire screeched something that threw Scyther off focus and made him angry.

“ What did you do to my Scyther?” Rick asked.

“ I used Taunt its a move that will only allow you to use offensive moves so whatever you had planed with that Focus Energy is no more,” Turquoise said.

“ You want to fight then lets fight. Scyther use Slash. Scyther unleashed a powerful Slash that managed to deal some decent damage to Corvisquire.

“ Corvisquire use Drill Peck. Corvisquire charged at Scyther with his beak spinning and nailed Scyther for some massive damage and caused him to drop the ring. After snatching it Corvisquire tried to reach the goal until Scyther got back up and got back into the air with his Swarm ability active.

“ Let’s see how you like this. Scyther use X-Scissor. Scyther crossed his scythes which were glowing green and unleashed an X shaped blast of energy that sent Corvisquire plummeting to the ground.

“ Come on Corvisquire get up,” Turquoise said while Corvisquire was trying to. “ YOU CAN DO IT. Suddenly Corvisquire took off like a rocket and began to glow with white light.

“ Corvisquire is evolving and right when Turquoise needs it,” Twilight said. Corvisquire began to grow bigger as his wingspan increased and his shape changed. As soon as the light faded a big grey raven-like creature with chest fluff and piercing red eyes appeared where Corvisquire was.

“ Corviknight,” The creature shouted. Turquoise pulled out her Pokedex to check the stats of her new pokemon.

“ Corviknight. The Raven Pokemon and the final evolved form of Rookidee.  This Pokémon reigns supreme in the skies of the Galar region. The black luster of its steel body could drive terror into the heart of any foe,” The Pokedex said.

“ And it looks like you learned a new move as well,” Turquoise said before returning to the battle.

“ Impressive as seeing your Corvisquire evolve is I’m afraid this match is not over yet,” Rick pointed out.

“ Your right Corviknight let’s win this,” Turquoise said as Corviknight took off even faster than before and snatch the ring from Scyther. “ Corviknight head for the goal.

“ If we can,t take the ring then we shall just finish you off. Scyther use X-Scissor. Scyther unleashed another X-Scissor attack only this time Turquoise was ready.

“ Time to show them your new move. Corviknight use Steel Wing. Corviknight’s wings turn to metal before smashing the X-Scissor and nailing Scyther. Even though Scyther was still standing Corviknight managed to hook the ring and win the match for Turquoise.

“ And that’s it, ladies and gentlemen. The winner of this year’s Pokeringer Competition is Team Turquoise,” The MC shouted as the crowd cheered loudly. As soon as Turquoise claimed her prize she and her friends proceeded to the Pokemon center to heal both Dartrix and Corviknight. As soon as both pokemon were healed. Applejack had some pokemon food ready for everyone. As Turquoise and the others were eating their food Rick decided to join them.

“ Looks like you beat me again,” Rick said.

“ It was a close battle,” Turquoise said.

“ So where are you off to now?” Rick asked.

“ To Celadon City to challenge the Celadon Gym,” Turquoise said.

“ Figures you would since you and your friends can just waltz right in,” Rick said.

“ What do you mean?” Turquoise asked.

“ The Celadon Gym is a girl’s only gym. The gym Leader won,t let any males in so I’m off to find another gym to challenge hopefully one that is for everyone,” Rick said.

“ That can,t be true I thought gym Leaders were required by league rules to accept all challenges,” Twilight said.

“ If you don,t believe me then see for yourself I just came from Celadon yesterday after being turned away,” Rick said before leaving.

“ I’m sure it’s not true darling but in case it is we will ask the gym Leader,” Rarity assured.

“ Your right maybe its something else,” Turquoise said. As soon as Rick left the girls continued with eating their dinner.
