5. Loves Embrace
The next few days have been just the same, all blending together. Get out of bed, shower, eat, and then head off to work. Doing the same thing over, and over will get stale. But I still don’t have a place of my own so that’s the goal I’m working towards. Another thing that’s been on my mind is that I’m very lonely, not having a special some pony in my life. Well I’m not sure if I had one in my previous life before I woke up in that field at Sweet Apple Acres. I hate the thought of being lonely though, and I’ve been here for the past two years now, and I’ve met many different ponies. Though there is only one pony in this town that I might have something in common with, and I like her a lot to, from the very first day I saw her. I just have to figure out how to tell this pony how I feel about her, and I hope that she returns the same feelings back.
After rolling out of bed from a restless night of thinking of how to tell that one pony how I feel. I stretch out my whole body, hearing it pop in many different place throughout. I walk to the little bastion that’s sitting on my dresser and splashed water onto my face to give myself a jolt to wake up. I push open my room’s door which leads to the main room of Twilight’s library.
“Morning everypony.” I say as I enter the room
“It’s not morning.” a voice replies back
I took a quick peek out the window, only to see that the sun is high in the sky, shaking my head.
“Wow I must have been out of it.” I say back to the voice.
“You were tossing and turning all night Dark.” says the voice.
I look around for the voice and I spy Spike up on a ladder putting books away.
“Oh hey Spike, was I really tossing and turning all night?” I asked the little dragon.
“Yeah you were, you kept me up half the night.” Spike said glaring back at me.
“Sorry about that Spike, I just got a lot on my mind this morning.” I said back while still looking around the room “You wouldn’t happen to know where Twilight is at would you Spike?”
“The last time I saw her, she was with Rainbow, Rainbow needed her help, something to do with the weather.” Spike responded while he continued to books away on the shelves of the library
“Alright, thanks spike I’ll catch you later I have a few things that need to be done.” I say walking out the front door of the library
I walked into the midday sun, and looked up at the clouds while stretching out my wings letting the sun hit them with their warming rays. “This is the day I tell my feelings to the pony that I fell in love with.” I say to myself as I continued to look up at the sky, as I walked through town looking for any hint of where Rainbow or Twilight might be. I scanned the sky of any signs of them, then I saw a light blue streak I almost missed it because it was hitting the light blue of the sky. I saw the streak heading toward Applejack’s farm.
With a light hoof I started running in the direction of Sweet Apple Acres, only to stop ten feet later. “What the hey am I doing, I can just fly there.” After a short hop, skip, and a jump I was up in the air flying my way to the farm. After about a ten minute flight, I was circling the farm looking for any sign of Twilight or Rainbow anywhere. After circling twice I saw the purple mare standing near Applejack’s front door. I folded my wings and did a nose dive straight to the purple pony standing there. About thirty feet from the ground I spread my wings to slow my speed down so I can land. I landed a few feet away from Twilight.
“Hi Twilight.” I said while folding my wings up.
“Oh hi Darkmist, what brings you here today?” she asked while still looking at the door, waiting for something.
“I was looking for Rainbow, have you seen her anywhere by chance?” I ask back.
“Yeah I have I was helping her not to long ago, but right now I’m not sure.” She said still eyeing the door.
“Can you at least tell me which way she went?” I asked looking at her with questioning eyes.
“I think she flew off in that direction.” She answered as she pointed to town with a hoof.
“Thanks Twilight.” I said while jumping up into the air and unfolding my wings.
“No problem.” Twilight said from the ground.
I headed back to town while thinking of the one place I could find Rainbow at this time of day. Then it hit me like a big bushel of apples. I turned my body and wings to the one building that would most likely hold Rainbow. Sugar Cube Corner would be the place I could find her at I thought. I then landed right on the front steps of the pastry shop. I pushed open the door of the shop; I spotted the sky blue mare standing at the counter talking to Mr. Cake I also saw Mrs. Cake running around in the kitchen behind Mr. Cake. I waited for them to finish talking.
“Sup Rainbow.” I say to her once she finished her talk with Mr. Cake.
“Hey Dark, what’s up?” She ask back with a questioning look on her face.
“Nothing much, just wanted to know if you’re up for flying?” I say glancing out the window, and seeing the sun is nearing the horizon.
“I’m always up for a good flying session” she said flapping her wings with glee.
“Sweet I’ll wait for you outside.” I said, blushing a bit.
“Cool I’ll be out there in a few.” she said before returning to Mr. Cake.
I headed outside to wait for Rainbow finish up her business with the Cakes. After about a ten minute wait, the door to the shop open and out walks the light blue mare. Just by looking at her make my heart starts to hammer.
“You seem to be done with your business.” I said while turning a shade of crimson.
“Yep all done, so let’s get to the flying shall we.” She said back.
“Yes lets” I said back, nodding my head.
As I say that Rainbow is already in the air waiting for me. Not to leave her there hanging I join her in the openness of the sky. I took a quick peek at the sun, and saw that it had just started go below the horizon. We spent the next few hours flying and enjoying ourselves. Every so often Rainbow would try a new trick out, and I would sit and watch her perform it from a nearby cloud. The sun had set about thirty minutes ago.
“Hey Rainbow let’s take a brake shall we!” I yell to her as I land on a cloud.
“Yeah sounds good, my old wings kind of need a bit of rest.” She responds back, as she lands on the same cloud as me.
“What I nice night.” I said while looking up at the stars.
“That it is, it’s very lovely” She says back.
“Yes you are” I said before I could stop myself, and then I started blushing.
“W… w… what!” Said rainbow with all of her attention now turned on me.
“I… I… I have a confession to make to you.” I said looking down to the ground with crimson radiating from my cheeks.
“Oh and what that might be? Wait don’t tell me, I want to tell you something first.” She said with a little glee in her voice.
My ears perked up and I looked at her only to look away, rather quickly.
“Really, what might that be if I may ask?” I said trying not to look at her directly, only giving her small glances.
“Well that’s the thing, I’m not exactly sure how to say this but here I go, I like you a lot, well like is too soft of a word it’s more like I love you. There I said it.” Finished Rainbow, slightly turning away from with crimson masking her cyan face.
After I heard that I nearly fell off the cloud that we were sitting on, but I just barely managed to catch myself before I did.
“W… what, really it makes me really happy to hear that, and I was going to say the same thing to you. I’ve had a crush on you since I first met you at Twilights library, and I love you too.” I responded while looking into her eyes as I said the three magical words.
“Oh thank Celestia, here I thought you wouldn’t return the feeling, aw look at me getting all sappy.” Said Rainbow.
“You can be sappy every so often.” I said back.
“That is SOO true.” She responded.
After her last word left her mouth, I pulled her close in a comforting hug. She also held me tight, then she looked up at me and I look back at her. Her muzzle was very close to mine, she then whispered “I love you.” She then kissed me passionately. I returned the kiss, and then we split apart for a few seconds allowing me to say “I love you too.” She then kissed me again, and then laid her head on my chest listening to my fluttering heartbeat. We spent the rest of night in each other’s warm embrace.
