//------------------------------// // Chapter 1: Sunlights (Start of 1st person/pony POV) // Story: When the Moon Shines Bright // by SewerDweller //------------------------------// Now... I'm stuck in the castle. Every morning I wake up, do my lessons and then chores. Food fits somewhere in between that but it's always the same thing. My brother, Aurelius told me he doesn't remember much about the free world. He was a few months old when the castle doors closed, and Dawn Blazer knows as much as I do. The only one in our family who remembers freedom besides mom and dad is Sundrop. He doesn't share much either ever since he got married. I walked through the halls of our castle, ready for my magic lessons. I didn't see my brothers until evening, and it was lonely. I opened the door to the library and walked in with my teacher sitting by the fireplace. She was a bit short, and her fur was a dark magenta color with her fuchsia mane in a bun and her glasses sitting on her snout. Her cutie mark was two stars of different colors that overlapped, and the overlapped color was a combination of the two colors. II cleared my throat and she looked up. "Starwave, you're a bit late you know." She said quietly and I nodded. "I know Miss Tulip," I said and she gave me a soft smile. She was used to me being late and luckily she was always so nice. "I'm sorry, I promise I'll get better at being on time," I added. "Starwave, you're late a lot. You always say that but you never follow through. When you're a queen you can't make empty promises." She said as I sat down in my chair and I nodded slowly. "But I won't be queen for a while so I don't have to worry," "Right.. Anyway Princess what do you want to learn today? Reviews of teleporting? Time travel? Maybe we need to do the wing creation spell again." Miss Tulip said grabbing a few books from the library with her magic and I thought for a bit. "Miss Tulip with all due respect, I don't need this. I can do time travel, I can create wings and I can teleport." I said as my horn lit up and I teleported closer to the fire. "I can create wings, and I can even shoot a beam!" I explain shooting a small pink beam of light at the pile of books and they fly off the table. "I don't need these reviews, I want to do something new!" "Princess when you are ready for something new, your parents will inform me. Your brothers have all done this, eight moons it took them. You've been doing this for on-" Miss Tulip said as I but in "Three moons, yes I understand. Miss Tulip let me try more magic please. I am stuck in this castle, with my brothers. They could teach me!" I shouted and Miss Tulip stood up from her chair and pushed up her glasses. "Princess Starwave. If you're so confident in your magical ability I have a task for you then. If you succeed then we can move ahead, but if you don't then we're going to review. Deal?" "Of course. I won't let you down." "There you go again, giving me a false promise. Starwave, make me younger." I never could do that. I always mess up on the spell in some way. "Alright, I can do it." I said, another lie. I backed away to give space and my horn lit up as I thought of the spell and Miss Tulip started glowing and as the spell went, she started to become older and I freaked out before quickly changing spells and ice surrounded her. I freaked out, and gave out a small laugh as my horn lit up more and the frozen pony started to become a bit younger, but was back to her old age. "Alright, I'll get my brother," I muttered putting more ice around her. I quickly ran out of the library and flew down the hall. "Aurelius!" I shouted through the halls. "Starwave?" I heard and I quickly flew back. My brother was in the living room, playing a video game. "Aurelius, hey uh I need your magic capibility." I said with a nervous laugh and he set down his game system. "What's wrong?" he asked and I sighed. "I told Miss Tulip that I don't want to learn the same boring magic and she told me to make her younger and I made her older and then....froze her." I said grabbing my brother with my magic and teleproting both of us into the library. Aurelius looked at his old frozen teacher, and smirked. "Starwave, she finally broke you? Look, I'll help you with the spell but you need to unfreeze her." "What do you mean she broke me?" "Happens to all of us sis, now to make her younger you need to add thoughts of young things. She probably wants to be back to a mare, not a filly." Aurelius explained as I nodded and slowly my horn lit up and surrounded Miss Tulip and she started to turn younger and I stopped when she looked young enough. "Nice job sis, see you later after your lesson." Aurelius said with a grin. "Wait! What'd you mean that she broke me?" I yelled as he teleported away. I sighed and looked at Miss Tulip, she seemed to be looking down at me. I walked deeper into the library, a thought in my mind. We had books on so many spells from Starswhirl to the magic of the canterlot princesses. I flew up and looked at the top shelf and took out the book with a dark purple spine. The book was decorated with black crystals and I grinned flying back to the table. I sat down and opened the book, glancing at the spells names. I kept searching until I stopped at one, and read it and it seemed to be the spell I needed. I read it a few times before I walked back to my teacher and I took a deep breath. I thought of the spell, and my horn started to glow and around my teacher she glew a dark green purple, the ice around her melted and she didn't have time to react. "Princess Starwave!" she yelled making me drop her but I was so determined to use the spell, I tried to get her with the spell but in a quick reaction she had music back at me, now it was a moment of concentration. It our own battle, and even though I was losing focus I woud not lose to her. I didn't keep track of time but the library door opened and we heard yelling. "Princess!" a guard shouted and I looked before being hit by the beam of magic and I hit the wooden floor in pain. It didn't hurt a lot but everything faded.. A couple hours I think passed when I woke up in my room, with my mom watching over me. "You're awake, good." she muttered as I sat up and she gave me a soft smile, the moon shining through the big window. "Starwave, are you alright?" she asked and I nodded as she sat on my bed. "What were you thinking?" her voice sounded like it was breaking and I lowered my head. "Mom, I wanted to try something new, Miss Tulip wanted me to ke-," i said as my mom interrupted me. "Don't question her methods. She is a great teacher. I was more wondering why did you take that book of dark magic? We saw the page you were on...Starwave what were you thinking?" "I wasn't thinking mom..I don't wanna learn the basics I want to learn more magic. I want to learn the forbidden dark magic. If you don't want me to learn it then why is it in our library?" I asked as my mom lowered her head and looked away from me. "Starwave, we're going to destroy the book. Your lessons are stopping, and you'll only learn magic on how to raise the moon. Congratulations, you left the magic learning early and you'll learn the old night magic soon. Goodnight." Mom said, getting up and flying out of my room closing the door behind me. I waited for a bit, hoping my mom wasn't angry at me. I was wrong, she just said goodnight and no compliments or any sort of love. I slowly got up from my bed and walked to the window, looking out at our kingdom, the warm lights in the cold night. I wondered if I would ever go out, see the world and learn the magic I wanted to. I went back to bed and fell asleep. *** It was morning, I was in our castle when the bell rang. I quickly got up and flew to the doors, a sound I never heard. There was Miss Tulip with a grin "Princess Starwave, the castle doors are opening!" she shouted loudly as the front doors opened and I flew out into the courtyard. I flew through the main road of the kingdom, it was just how I imagined it. I kept flying before I saw a blue pony and she waved. "Hello! Princess," I said bowing and she laughed. I looked at the blue pony with a blue mane and a cutie mark of a moon. "Hello Starwave," she said with a smile. "Are you really princess Luna?" "Well, yes and no. You see, I passed many moons ago but yet part of me still remains and I guess I'm still dreamwalking." she explained as she walked, gesturing for me to walk with her. "Wow, I have Princess Luna in my dreams! I'm so surprised. You need to tell me everything that happened in your time!" I said excitedly and she laughed softly. "Young princess, I cannot right now. Right now, I need to help you find your new friends. Right now, you're in a shared dream with two or three other ponies." "Do these ponies actually live in my kingdom?" "I cannot answer that Starwave," "Oh, Princess Luna if you're the princess of night why are you here? I know you can go into dreams but still, you're gone and we don't have that anymore. How are you here?" I asked and she flew up and I flew with her. "You are suppose to be the next moon princess? Well, apparently that book you read helped fuel your dreams into becoming this reality. Don't worry I will disappear but I will always be there with you." She said with a smile as we flew across the kingdom and I smiled, wishing I got an answer without additional questions. "Princess Luna, how will you always be with me?" I asked and she stopped flying and I flew under her so I wouldnt run into her. "Your cutie mark." Is all she said before flying down, and I followed. It was nice to get a clear answer from her. I didn't have my cutie mark yet, but it gave me an idea on what it would be. I was a bit nervous because I was probably the only one in the kingdom without a cutie mark. I shook my head and landed on the ground trying to look for Princess Luna who just seemed to have disappeared. I walked down the lonely road, a bit worried. I saw some ponies walk past, many glancing at me in awe and some bowing. I kept walking, seeing that they just seemed static and stuck until one moved. I stopped and looked at this orange pegasus with orange, magenta and yellow mane with lilac eyes. He saw and bowed and I approached him and he looked up. "You're not static." I muttered and he slowly stood up. "Right?" He nodded "I'm not static princess." he said and I smiled and stuck out my hoof. "What's your name?" I asked and he took my hoof and shook it. "Apple Crumble at your service." he said with a smile "I'm really sorry, I don't know my royalty. Who are you?" he asked and I grinned. "Starwave. Princess of Moria." I stated and he nodded, possibly not knowing about where I'm from. "Where are you from?" "Moria." He answered "I didn't know the castly gates were open, and I certainly didn't know that the king and queen had three children." "Oh! There's a fourth. My older brother Dawn Blazer was born around the time when they locked us in. " I explained and he nodded. "Apple Crumble can I ask you two things?" and he nodded "Alright, well one thing is can we go explore? I haven't been out ever and I want to explore everything." I asked and he nodded. "What was the other thing you wanted to ask?" He asked "Oh in case that you counted my first question as an actual question." I said and he laughed and we both flew off. ** I woke up, and sighed. It was a dream but it was a great dream. I found a friend and it was lovely. "Morning Starwave, man your dream was so interesting." A familiar voice said and I sat up with Princess Luna walking around my room. "Princess Luna, why and how are you in my room? We thought you were gone.." I asked and she looked at me and flew over. "Well Starwave, call me Luna we're both princesses. Anyway, after your dream and the spell that hit you I am back as me. Well except that I am not alive, and only you can see me but I am back. Sorry for this Starwave but I can help you get your cutie mark and learn magic! I believe I still have that knowledge. Also who raises the sun now?" she asked her horn glowing and nothing happening. "Oh my father raises the sun." I explained and Luna smirked. "Time have changed, and you will soon be raising the moon when you learn." Luna said with a smile and I nodded. "Starwave! Breakfast!" Mother called and I smiled at Princess Luna "Well, we are now the night team. Let's go Luna." I said opening the door and she followed me as we made our way towards the kitchen.
