Southwestward

In Ragako Village, Conny got off his horse and looked at the Titan on top of it and his house. He stood and looked in horror as he didn't want to believe it.

"Conny!" called Reiner. "Are there any survivors?"

"No," muttered Conny, tearing up and crying. "None at all. It's all over... My hometown... It's gone forever."

"I'm sorry Conny," said Pinkie Pie, walking over to Conny, tearing up.

Conny breaking voice managed to cause Reiner to almost tear up, while Bertholdt watches, not tearing up.

"Hey! Something's strange here," stated Gelgar. "Has anyone spotted any bodies?"

"No," said Reiner.

"I haven't," spoke Bertholdt.

"Maybe they're playing hide and seek," suggested Pinkie Pie.

"How is that possible?" wondered Gelgar, trying to ignore Pinkie's words. "Titans come and not a signal drop of blood?"

"Everyone must've escape!" assured Lynne. "It means nobody here was eaten. Including your family, too.

Conny gasped and smiled at the so-called miracle.

"I see... That's gotta be it!" exclaimed Conny.

"Yeah. It's unbelievable to think Titans ate everyone without leaving blood behind," said Lynne.

"That's not all that's unbelievable," thought Gelgar. "If the entire village was really evacuated, why would Titans obliterate these houses with nobody in them? But what really boggles my mind is the stables. If they tried to escape without horses, their chance of survival would be slim."

"Everyone got their torches?" asked Gelgar.

"Are we going to camp?" asked Pinkie Pie.

"No, we're trying to locate and assess the breach in the wall!" stated Gelgar, moving out.

"Aww," moaned Pinkie Pie in disappointment.

Reiner, Bertholdt, Pinkie Pie, and Lynne started to follow Gelgar.

"Yes, sir!" shouted Conny.

Reiner and Bertholdt got on their horses and galloped away. Conny on the other hand was untying his horse, while Pinkie Pie stayed behind, waiting for him. As Conny got on his horse, Pinkie started to gallop away for a while.

"Wel... come... home," muttered a voice behind him. "...son."

Conny stopped in his tracks and turned around to the Titan that is on his house. Conny looked around his surrounding for anyone, but it was just him and Pinkie Pie was waiting in the distance.

"Just now..." wondered Conny.

"Conny!" called Reiner, shaking Conny. "We're falling behind Gelgar!"

"Reiner? Did you hear that?"

"Hear what?" asked Reiner. "I didn't hear anything. Enough with the chit-chat. Focus on the damn mission!"

"But it... I think..." stuttered Conny. "I don't know how, but... I think... My mom..."

"Conny! Do you understand the situation we're in?!" asked Reiner. "Hundreds of thousands of lives depend on whether we complete this mission or not! Your family might have escaped, but it's not over yet! If you're a soldier, put the mission first!"

Reiner then galloped away, leaving Conny behind.

"Yeah..." muttered Conny. "Good point. he's absolutely right!"

Conny then galloped away from his house and started to follow Reiner.

Back in the western team, Nanaba and her team had completed the warning of the breach and were now with a new mission: finding the point of the breach where the Titans are coming from.

'We're getting close to the wall now," said a Scout short brown hair, named Henning. "So there's no people living in the area."

"Right," said Nanaba. "That didn't take us very long. Alright, let's head to the south."

Behind Nanaba were Ymir, Christa, Fluttershy, and Lemon Zest.

"What for?" asked Ymir.

'There shouldn't be any villages south of here," stated Fluttershy.

"We need to find the location the wall was breached," explained Nanaba. "We'll ride along the wall from the west until we find it."

"But Christa, Ymir, Fluttershy, and I don't have our battle gear," stated Lemon Zest.

"That's true," agreed Ymir. "And there's probably Titans roaming everywhere to our south. It's very possible that we'll become Titan fodder. Let us four withdraw from the front."

"You can't," stated Nanaba. "I'll need someone to relay back a report. I know how you feel, but you signed up for this as a soldier."

Nanaba's team galloped out of a forest and were now in the open, galloping near a lake with some animals on the other side.

"Ymir," called Christa. "I'm fine with putting my life on the line. After all, I'm the one who chose join the Scouts. But, it's not the same for you. The only reason you joined the Scouts was because-"

"You think I did it for you?!" Ymir broke in.

"Then why are you even here?" asked Christa. "You kept trying to convince me to join the Military Police. But then you gave that privilege to me! There's no way I'm good enough to make the top ten skill alone. I'm sure if I asked anyone, they'd say you deserved o be in it, not me. I don't know how you did it, but...Why would you go that far for me?"

Ymir completely ignored Christa's words and continued to gallop.

"Does it have to do with my family?" asked Christa

"Yeah, it does," spoke Ymir. "Christa, don't worry about it. the only reason I'm here is for myself and nothing else."

"See," said Christa. "Thank goodness."

The sun shined on Christa's beautiful, clean, and cheerily face. Her face caused Ymir to visible blush. In front of them, Lemon Zest looked back while Fluttershy continued to gallop ahead on what was coming.

9 hours after the Titan spotting

In the Eastern defensive line, a Garrison was quickly galloping away from a Titan that was chasing him. In front of the Garrison, several cannons were aligned.

"The target has come with range!" shouted a Garrison.

"All cannons, prepare to fire!" shouted Woermann. "Not yet! Wait for the order!"

Kitz Woermann then lifted his hand in the air. The Garrison that was getting chase pasted through an open fence.

"Fire!" shouted Woermann, dropping his hand.

All of the cannons started to fire at the Titan, which brought it down. Then, Rico jumped from the roof and sliced the Titan's nape off, killing it. Rico landed on the roof after killing the Titan.

"Did I kill him?" wondered Rico.

"You did it, Captain Rico!" shouted the Garrison. "At this rate, they'll never break our defense!"

"No, the Titan's strength is in their numbers," stated Rico. "If they attack as a group this line won't stand a chance. But... what is it? Something isn't..."

"This is strange," said Hannes, galloping next to the wall.

"Captain Hannes!" called a Garrison. "Is something wrong?"

"We haven't even spotted a single Titan yet," answered Hannes. "We've got to be getting close to the hole now. And yet, doesn't it seem awfully quiet around here? Hopefully, we can sneak in and out without stirring up a storm. The top of Wall Rose was heavily defended from any Titans approaching.

11 hours after Titan spotting

Later that night, the Southern Teamwere all carrying torches and were galloping through a forest. In front, Gelgar was heavily panting and was panicking.

"When?" he wondered. "When will they show? When will it happen? At any second, they could leap out from the shadows. No, the closer we get to the hole the more inevitable it becomes. Goddammit! This is driving me crazy! I really need a drink!"

In front of Gelgar, he panicked as he saw more torches in front of him, but it was just Nanaba, who was equally scared as Gelgar.

"Did you follow the wall here, too?" asked Gelgar.

"Yeah, did you guys find the hole?" asked Nanaba.

"What?"

"We didn't find anything to the west," said Nanaba "Didn't you find it your way back?"

"No, there's no hole this way either," he stated.

Both Nanaba and Gelgar looked at each other in silence with worried faces.

"Is it possible we missed it?" asked Lynne.

"No way," said Henning. "Not a hole big enough for Titans to use."

"Should we go back and look again?" asked Gelgar.

"We'll need to, but the horses and the rest of us are exhausted," stated Nanaba, looking at the sky. "If only we had some moonlight."

Then, the clouds started to clear up and revealing a full moon in the sky. Now with moonlight, Gelgar and Nanaba looked in front of them and saw a castle in the distance.

"What is that?" wondered Gelgar. "Castle ruins?"

Nanaba, Gelgar, and the rest of the recruits arrived to the castle ruins, which was old and had some cracks along the castle walls.

"it looks like a mess, but we can make it work for one night of rest," said Gelgar.

"Right," said Nanaba getting off her horse. "Luckily we have moonlight."

Back at Wall Sina, the Scouts continued to their journey to the Ehrmich District. On the cart, Petra as fast asleep, leaning on Levi, and hold his hand, visibly blushing. Hange was holding a crystal in her hand.

"Hange. Hey, four-eyes!" called Levi. "Are your hobbies so boring that playing with rocks is somehow fun or you?"

"Yeah," she answered. "But this is no ordinary rock. It's hardened fragment of skin left behind by the Female Titan."

"It didn't disappear?" wondered Armin.

"Right!' said Hange. "Annie reverted from a Titan, but it's still intact even though it broke off her body. It didn't evaporate. It didn't disappear. So I thought, "What if?" When I compared it to a piece of the wall, its pattern and composition were identical. In other words, the wall is a barricade of humongous Titans. And if I'm right, the surface is constructed with Titan skin."

"That's exactly what Armin was saying," gasped Mikasa.

"Then..." said Armin before Hange's hand covered Armin's face.

"Let me finish, Armin," said Hange. "as it stands, we'll be pressed to fill the hole in Wall Rose. That is, unless we can find the perfect boulder to plug it. But if Eren, in his transformed stated, could use the Titans' hardening ability to seal the hole in the wall."

"Use me..." muttered Eren. "...to seal the wall."

"It should be made of the same material," stated Hange. "And seeing how the hardened section won't evaporate, even after you revert from a Titan, it's possible."

"I think it's well worth the risk to try," said Armin. "And assuming it really does work, reclaiming Wall Maria is feasible, too. Up until now, we've had to transport a large quantity of materials and supplies. That's why the need for outposts past the wall limited our progress. But if we don't have to accommodate supply wagons, we could quickly make your way to Shiganshina. What if we carry the plan at night?"

"At night?" asked Hange

"Yes," nodded Armin. "During the night, when Titans can't move"

"I see," said Hange. "If the group was small enough, you could sneak all the way to Wall Maria. the current situation is as bad as it gets, but we still have a glimmer of hope."

"Yes, but remember it depends on whether Eren can seal the hole or not," stated Armin.

"I realized asking this hardly seems fair," said Hange. "Can you think you could do it?"

Eren took some time to think, as he was about to think. Levi broke in.

"It doesn't matter what you think," he stated. "You have to. There's no choice. We're out of options. Our forces are struggling so desperately, there's nothing else they can do. You have succeed.

"I will!" shouted Eren, slightly waking up Petra. "I'll do whatever it takes."

Eren then remembers the hole in Wall Maria, his destroyed house, and the key to his father's basement.

"My dad's basement," said Eren, taking out the key. "If what my dad said was true, we'll find the answer to everything there."

Everything was silent, Hange then looked up at the wall.

"It's Ehrmich District."

Once the Scouts got in the Ehrmich District, Pastor Nick walked down some stairs and saw the amount of miserable and saddened refugees pouring into Wall Sina.

"Hey! Keep moving!" ordered Levi, kicking him. "You'll end up like a lost kid."

"This is..." muttered Nick.

"What did you expect you'd see?" asked Levi. "This is what happens when the wall falls."

Nick then spotted a crying boy and started to walk towards him, but he was stopped by Levi.

"Where do you think you're going?" asked Levi, giving him a lethal stare. "Take a good look at the faces of people who've lost everything. The faces of everyone you and your people abandoned. If your church's wish comes true, and Titans come flooding through the walls, we'll all be gobbled up in their stinking mouths and die in the most miserable way possible. All of humanity, digested as one."

Outside the courtyard, we're checking their supplies and were refilling their supplies after their journey.

"Once we leave Ehrmich we'll be in Titan territory," stated Hange.

"Eren, think you can ride a horse?" asked Moblit.

"Yes, I feel fully recovered now," said Eren.

"Yours is ready at the west lift," Moblit informed. "Let's hurry."

Eren then met up with Mikasa, Armin, and the rest. Behind them, Levi and Pastor Nick came walking out a tunnel.

"Section Commander," called Moblit. "We should hurry."

"Give me a minute, Moblit," said Hange, walking towards them.

Hange the stopped in front of Pastor Nick.

"Have you had a change of heart yet?" she asked.

Mich didn't answer and gave Hange a saddened look on his face.

"We don't have time for this!" shouted Hange. "You know, don't you?! Will you take, or won't you?! Make up your goddamn mind already!"

"i cannot say anything," said Nick. "The other believers are the same as I, and that will never change."

"Well, thanks for nothing!" scolded Hange, storming off. "We're so grateful for all the help you've been!"

"It's too great a decision for a single person to make," stated Nick. "The Order of the Walls must adhere to the sacred will we're bound to obey."

"Whose will?" asked Hange. "God or something?"

"i cannot say anything," repeated Nick."However, I can inform you of a name, who under their sacred will, we were instructed to monitor."

"Monitor?" wondered Hange.

"that person joined the Scout Regiment as of this year," stated Nick "Their name is..."

"Section Commander!" called Petra. "Someone has come."

"Excuse me!" shouted Sasha. "104th Cadet Corps! Sasha Braus and Rarity!"

"Her?" asked Eren.

Twilight, Sunset, Starlight, Starlight, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Indigo Zap, Sour Sweet, Sugarcoat, and Sunny Flare turned around and met up with Rarity, while Sasha walks past them.

"This is for you, Section Commander," said Sasha.

"You must find her at once," said Nick "Only she... She may knows the truths which even cannot perceive. That's all the information I can share. The rest I leave in your hands."

"If she's in the 104th, then she's deep in the front lines right now," realized Hange.

"Let's go!" shouted Eren, running back. "We need to hurry!"

Eren then ran into Sasha, knocking her down.

"What are you doing there?" asked Mikasa.

Sasha grabbed a rolled piece of paper and walked towards Hange.

"Upon my arrival, I gave my report to the Commander!" shouted Sasha, giving her the paper. "Afterwards, i was entrusted to deliver this message to the Section Commander!"

"Message?" wondered Hange, taking the paper and handing her a bake potato. "Thank you. Good work."

Sasha looked at her hands and smiled at a baked potato in her hands. She took a bite and blushing as she started to chew.

"So who is this girl in the 104th?" asked Hange.

"She's the smallest one of us," stated Eren.

"She raked ten in our class," stated Twilight.

"She has long hair," stated Armin. "And... She's cute."

"She's always hanging around with Ymir," stated Mikasa.

"Ymir?" wondered Hange, remembering the name.

Back at the castle, everyone was sleeping, while Reiner and Ymir were in the storage room looking for food.

"What's the meaning of this?" asked Reiner. "Ymir... You..."

Ymir only gave Reiner a lethal stare at him.

"Everyone wake up!" shouted Lynne. "Get to the tower! Quickly!"

Everyone woke up and started to head up the tower. When they got to the top, they were all surprised at the amount of Titans surrounding the castle.

"i couldn't see them in the darkness, but then the moon," thought Nanaba.

"Why?" Why can they move" asked Gelgar. "It's been so long since the sun set!"

"What's going on here?" asked Christa.

"Hey! Look at that!" pointed Conny. "It's huge! What the hell is that? A Titan?"

Sure enough, the ape-like Titan was walking past the castle.

"No, it's more like..." muttered Conny. "It's a beast."

"I thought we were going to be safe," sighed Fluttershy. "I didn't think of this."

Everyone watch in horror as the Beast Titan was walking towards the wall.

"It's headed for the wall!" shouted Lemon Zest.

A Titan then crashed into the tower causing it to rock.

"Everyone understand?" asked Hange.

"Yes!" replied all the Scouts.

"We've got to go!" shouted Eren.

"Calm down, Eren," said Levi. "You all listen, too. We're going our own ways now. The rest will be up to you. Erwin may have thrown together your squad, but everything's riding on you. Got it, Armin? Work with Hange and Twilight and combine your knowledge"

"Yes, sir!" replied Armin.

"Mikasa. I don't know why you're so attached to Eren, but use the utmost of you ability to protect Eren at all cost. Also, I saw you developed great chemistry with Rainbow Dash, Indigo Zap, Sunny Flare and Applejack, all of you work together."

"Yes, sir!" replied Mikasa and the others.

"Sunset, Starlight, Sour Sweet, and Sugarcoat. Work as a team, all of you struggle in teamwork. This is your best chance to improve that struggle."

"Yes, sir!" all them replied.

"And finally... Eren."

Back at the castle, a smaller Titan was ramming its head against the door.

"Hey, wait!" shouted Gelgar, looking down and panicking. "Wait, wait, wait up! Don't you be coming in here! you're fucking kidding me. Gotta be fucking kidding me. I'd be drinking right now if it wasn't for you! This is your fault!"

Gelgar then drew out two new fresh blades out.

"Stand back, rookies!" ordered Nanaba, drawing out a new blade. "Leave this to us. It's time to show off our ODM gear. Let's go!"

Then, Nanaba, Lynne, Henning, and Gelgar jumped off the tower and were ready to begin their battle with the Titans. At Wall Rose, the Beast Titan climbed up to the top of the wall and looked back at the castle.

"And finally... Eren," said Levi. "Restrain yourself. Don't succumb to rage and lose sight of the goal. We can't afford another mistake."

"Yes, sir!" replied Eren.

Then, all of the Scouts were all holding torches and were galloping in the open into the night.

"There's a tower nearby where we can assess the wall," stated Hange. "It's in an abandoned castle to the southwest. We'll ride to Utgard Castle."
