Turquoise and Twilight were currently engaged in a friendly battle while Applejack was busy cooking.
“ Corvisquire use peck. Corvisquire’s beak glowed and suddenly grew before spinning which surprised Turquoise. “ Is that what I think it is?
“ Sure is that is Drill Peck much more powerful than Peck,” Twilight said.
“ Sweet. Corvisuire use Drill Peck on Dartrix. Corvisquire charged at Dardrix its his beak spinning like a drill.
“ Dodge and use Shadow Sneak. Dartrix dodged and disappeared into the shadows which confused Corvisquire.
“ Corvisquire stay on your guard he can,t get you if your still airborne since there are no shadows in the air. Corvisquire kept his eyes on the ground looking for a sign of where Dartrix will come out from. Corvisquire suddenly saw where Dartrix was hiding and struck at him thus damaging him.
“ I see your powers of observation have gotten good,” Twilight said.
“ Thanks, Twilight,” Turquoise said.
“ Alright yall the food is ready,” Applejack said as she and Fluttershy set out the bowls of pokemon food for all the Pokemon. Zorua was still nervous around the others and after getting barked at by Yamper ran over to Turquoise for protection.
“ Yamper please don,t scare Zorua,” Turquoise said which made yamper sad.
“ She did not mean to Yamper was only showing her joy for her,” Applejack said.
“ I know but Zorua is still getting used to everyone and since we will be traveling together till after Celadon City I want her to warm up to everyone at her own pace,” Turquoise said. As soon as Zorua calmed down she began eating her food with the rest of the pokemon. “ So how much further until we reach the Rock Tunnel?
“ According to the pokenav we are almost there it’s just outside this forest,” Applejack said.
“ Great that means we are almost to Lavender Town,” Rarity said. After packing up The girls continued through the forest and after forty-five minutes of walking arrived by a Pokemon Center next to a cave with a bunch of trainers lined up outside. Nurse Joy came out to speak with the crowd.
“ I’m sorry to say everyone that due to the power outage we can,t heal all of your pokemon right now but rest assured we should have word from the people at the Power Plant on the situation,” Nurse Joy said.
“ And when will that be?” One of the trainers shouted.
“ Soon just be patient,” Nurse Joy assured. The crowd all left outraged by not having their pokemon tended to which made Nurse Joy sad.
“ Is there anything we can do to help,” Fluttershy asked.
“ You kids are sweet to offer but with no power, I’m afraid there is nothing anyone can do,” Nurse Joy said.
“ Then lets head down to the Power Plant and ask what happened,” Turquoise said.
“ Thank you the Power Plant is around the river bend I would come with and show you but I need to remain here to tend to the patients I already have,” Nurse Joy said.
“ Then I will go and see what the problem is,” Turquoise said.
“ I’m coming with you,” Twilight said.
“ While you two are at the Power Plant the rest of us will try and help Nurse Joy,” Fluttershy said.
“ Why can,t we go too?” Rarity asked.
“ Because I need you two with me if we want to save the pokemon here. Your Yamper and Delcatty will provide back up power while Nurse Joy and I tend to the Pokemon,” Fluttershy said. As soon as the plan was set Turquoise and Twilight left. Twilight figured now was a good time to engage in some conversation since it was just the two of them.
“ So what made you get into Pokemon Contests?” Twilight asked.
“ When I was little I went to the yearly Pokemon Festival in my home town of Pallet. They were holding a contest and the winner of that contest Dawn was the most graceful and elegant coordinator I saw and I wanted to be like her,” Turquoise said.
“ Rarity was the same way,” Twilight said.
“ My turn to ask a question. What made you want to do Gym Battles? You seem more into science than battling,” Turquoise asked.
“ Another friend of ours called Rainbow Dash got me into them,” Twilight said. Turquoise and Twilight arrived in front of the Power Plant and went inside seeing the engineers running around franticly.
“ What are you kids doing here?” One of the engineers asked.
“ We came to find out why the power is out,” Turquoise asked.
“ As you probably have guessed we use a hydroelectric generator to supply the area with power but something is blocking the water intake and with no water flowing the generator won,t work,” The other Engineer said.
“ Then why don,t you unblock it?” Twilight asked.
“ The only way in is through the maintenance hatch and we can,t open it unless we drain the water first and with all that water trapped inside we can,t get in without damaging the rest of the plant,” The first engineer said.
“ Any ideas Twilight?” Turquoise asked.
“ We could go inside the pipeline and try and find out what is blocking it,” Twilight suggested.
“ We would not recommend that if you unblock the pipeline you could get swept up in the current,” The second Engineer said.
“ Thanks for the concern but we can handle this,” Turquoise said. The engineers showed them the pipeline and wished them both luck before returning inside. Twilight then pulled a drone-like device out of her backpack along with a remote. “ What is that?
“ This Turquoise is my underwater surveillance drone. I usually use it to study water type pokemon in their natural habitat but it should also be able to look inside the pipeline for us,” Twilight explained before putting her drone in the water. As soon as the drone submerged Twilight flipped the camera on and piloted the drone into the pipe. As soon as they reached the spot where the blockage was Twilight moved the drone back for a full-screen view which revealed a bunch of chopped up logs wedged inside the pipeline. “ Looks like we have a bunch of logs blocking the way.
“ What should we do about it?” Turquoise asked as Twilight recalled her drone.
“ We need to head further upstream and find out what is causing this so we can stop it before things get worse,” Twilight said as she put her drone back in her backpack. Twilight and Turquoise followed the river further down and noticed a bunch of trees cut down. As soon as they reached the end they noticed a girl wearing a pink ninja outfit with red hair styled in a long ponytail with a bipedal frog-like pokemon.
“ What kind of Pokemon is that?” Turquoise said as she pulled out her Pokedex.
“ Greninja. The Ninja Pokemon. It creates throwing stars out of compressed water. When it spins them and throws them at high speed, these stars can split metal in two,” The Pokedex said which got the ninja girl’s attention.
“ Who dares interrupt our training?” The ninja girl shouted while pulling a kunai out.
“ Easy we come in peace,” Turquoise said with her arms up along with Twilight.
“ Who are you two and why are you here?” The ninja girl asked.
“ I’m Turquoise,” Turquoise said.
“ And I’m Twilight,” Twilight said.
“ I’m Akane and I’m a pupil of Master Koga,” Akane said.
“ Koga? As in Koga of the Elite Four in Jhoto?” Twilight asked.
“ That’s the one but enough about that why did you come and interrupt me and Greninja’s training?” Akane asked.
“ We came to find out what was blocking the pipeline at the Power Plant and it would seem that your so-called training has created the debris that is blocking the flow in the pipeline,” Twilight said.
“ How exactly are you causing all of this debris anyway?” Turquoise asked.
“ Greninja and I have been practicing Night Slash and this forest is the perfect place to do so since there are no pokemon here,” Akane said.
“ There may be no Pokemon here for you to hurt but there is a Power Plant with a hydroelectric Generator up the river and your fallen logs have been caught in the Pipeline,” Turquoise said.
“ I never thought of that I was more focused on helping Greninja become stronger as master Koga told me to,” Akane said with remorse.
“ So you will help undo the damage you caused?” Turquoise said.
“ Not so fast ladies you interrupted our training so tell you what if one of you can beat me and Greninja in a battle than I will help you,” Akane said.
“ If we must,” Twilight said.
“ So who do you want to challenge?” Turquoise asked. Akane took a moment to think and then pointed at Twilight.
“ I chose you four eyes,” Akane said.
“ Good luck Twilight,” Turquoise said. Twilight and Akane took their positions with Akane having Greninja standing in front of her while Twilight pulled out a Pokeball.
“ Go Dartrix,” Twilight shouted as she sent out Dartrix who was ready to go.
“ Greninja lets start with Hidden Power. Greninja placed his hands together and summoned a bunch of ice blue spheres before sending them flying towards Dartrix.
“ Dodge and use Shadow Sneak. Dartrix dodged the spheres which caused the ground the freeze where they landed before going into the shadows. Greninja observed everything around him before seeing one of the shadows move and Dartrix come out. Greninja blocked the attack but sustained a minor amount of damage.
“ I guess you did not know Greninja is also a Dark-type which means Ghost-type moves are not very effective,” Akane pointed out.
“ I’m well aware of that but I did not use Shadow Sneak for just an attack. Dartrix use Razor Leaf from close range. Dartrix unleashed his Razor Leaf from close range which did not give Greninja time to dodge and inflicted a good amount of damage.
“ Not bad but two can play at that game. Greninja use Water Shuriken from close range. Greninja generated a pair of Shuriken made from the water in the air and then threw them at Dartrix before pinning him to the tree behind them. “ Time to finish this. Greninja lets finish this with Night Slash. Greninja generated a katana made of purple energy and charged at Dartrix before cutting him and standing behind him. After the katana disappeared Dartrix felt the damage and fainted. “ Looks like I win and it looks like you are on your own for this problem. Akane was prepared to leave until Turquoise stopped her.
“ Hold it we are not done here. You said if one of us could beat you in a battle you would help us. Well, I have not battled yet so If I win you help us,” Turquoise said.
“ Then so be it I will beat you too but first Greninja heads up,” Akane said before throwing a yellow berry at Greninja who ate it happily. “ That is a Sitrus Berry it restores health. It would not be fair if I did not have Greninja fight at full strength.
“ Fine with me,” Turquoise said before pulling out one of her Pokeballs.
“ So who will you be fighting with?” Akane asked.
“ See for yourself. Go Venusaur,” Turquoise said as Venusaur came out and shook the ground slightly upon landing.
“ Like that will beat us did you not see how Greninja beat your friend over there,” Akane pointed out.
“ Don,t underestimate my Venusaur. He may not be fast or nimble but his strength and endurance more than make up for it,” Turquoise said.
“ We shall see. Greninja use Hidden Power. Greninja summoned his ice spheres and managed to hit Venusaur who just took it despite the move being Ice-type. “ Now use Water Shuriken. Greninja summoned his shurikens and managed to hit Venusaur with it while Venusaur just took it. “ Why won,t you attack already?
“ There is more to a battle than attacking. You need to also learn how to make the best of your Pokemon like right now my Venusaur is too heavy to move quickly so instead of trying to dodge he endures and waits for the right moment to strike,” Turquoise said.
“ We shall see how long that will work. Greninja use Night Slash. Greninja charged at Venusaur thinking he will win until Turquoise reacted.
“ Just what I was waiting for. Venusaur use Petal Blizzard. Venusaur unleashed a mighty power Petal Blizzard that sent Greninja flying into a tree and caused him to faint.
“ You beat us with just a single attack,” Akane said in shock
“ You can thank Venusaur’s overgrow for that,” Turquoise said. After healing Greninja Akane agreed to come back to the Power Plant with Turquoise and Twilight. As soon as they got back the Engineers were relieved to see them.
“ Thank goodness you two are back our boss is starting to get impatient and if you don,t fix this it will cost us our jobs,” One of the engineers said.
“ Relax not only have we found the cause of the issue and stopped it we are now going to unblock the pipeline,” Twilight said. After giving Akane a scuba mask she told her and Greninja to into the Pipe and use Night Slash to cut up the logs. After submerging along with Greninja Akane and Greninja went into the pipe and found all the logs they cut up blocking the way. Akane gave the signal for Greninja to use Night Slash and after cutting the logs into mulch the water began to flow again with Akane and Greninja caught in the current. Turquoise managed to pull Akane out as soon as she and Greninja entered the generator room.
“ You girls did it the generator is working again and power is now restored,” The engineers said in unison. Turquoise and Twilight returned to the Pokemon Center along with Akane to sees the power back on and both Applejack and Rarity exhausted.
“ I never hope I have to do something that draining ever again,” Rarity said.
“ You girls made it back. did you find out what happened at the Power Plant?” Fluttershy said.
“ It was my fault. Greninja and I were training in a forest upstream and the logs we practiced our Night Slash on got stuck in the pipeline,” Akane said apologetically.
“ But she did make up for it by helping us fix the problem,” Twilight said.
“ As long as you promise to be more mindful of where your training next time all is forgiving,” Nurse Joy said. While everyone’s Pokemon was being healed Turquoise and Akane were having a conversation.
“ So where will you be off to next?” Turquoise asked.
“ To the Fuchsia City Gym to train under Janine for a while,” Akane said.
“ Looks like we may see each other again since we will be heading to Fuchsia City some point on our journey,” Twilight said.
“ Indeed we will but don,t think I will lose to you this time Turquoise,” Akane said.
“ I’m looking forward to it,” Turquoise said. After getting her Graninja back Akane left while everyone else called it a night.
