//------------------------------// // Episode 40: Part 2: Levels on the head // Story: Yu-Gi-Oh E-QUEST // by DakariKingMykan //------------------------------// EPISODE FORTY Sunset was still wide open with all three of Celestia’s monsters glaring her down. “Go my Army of Wyrms!” Celestia called to them “…Attack sunset directly!” Her monsters all growled, and then soared up high, combining their powers together into one thunderous shot of light that struck Sunset hard. Sunset screamed as the light enveloped her and forced her down off of her feet, and she lost a total of 6300 points! Sunset LP: 8000 -----> 1700 She got up slowly and shakily. Rarity gasped and fainted. “Whoa! Sunset barely held on there!” cried Rainbow. “Yeah, and she almost lost too.” added Pinkie. Rainbow rolled her eyes at Pinkie’s remark. The girls watching from Terra’s room all shuddered with worry for Sunset, too. “Poor Sunset!” said Robin “Celestia’s crushing her just like she did me.” The others all felt nervous for Sunset, but at the same time they were astounded by Celestia’s dueling, especially Luna. She looked so proud and strong out there on the duel platform, almost a bit too serious even. “Sister…” Loki gazed at Celestia was a rather soft expression. “She duels quite well, the way she summoned so many ways… just like I do, and her assertiveness is quite impressive too.” Rubeus chuckled softly, “If I didn’t know better, Loki, I’d say you were growing a fondness of that woman.” Loki put his fingers to his chin while still gazing at Celestia, “…It’s possible. Perhaps she would make a worthy lady for me, for us, especially with her dueling.” Sunset got back up onto her feet, but Celestia was far from amused as she laid her last card facedown, ending her turn. “Are you alright?” she asked sternly. “Just peachy… I guess.” “You guess.” sneered Celestia “What’s happening to you, Sunset Shimmer, you used to be the greatest duelist at all Canterlot High, and I’m not just saying this. I watched you, there was hardly any challenge you couldn’t overcome, and you always kept your head in the game.” Sunset knew what she was getting at, and she thought “That’s because back then there wasn’t so much at stake. Here… it seems no matter which way I go, the Prince Brothers will get what they want.” “Are you even listening?!” Celestia snapped “…Is this the leader of the Equestria Girls I’m dueling, or a frightened girl who’s lost her way?” Sunset looked up, “You’ve come a long way, Sunset. You reformed, and you and your friends were always ready to face any danger head on, no matter how frightening it was. You never gave up, and somehow you always managed to find victory. Are you letting our enemies intimidate you now? Are you going to let them get away with what they’ve done to our friends because you can’t keep your head in the game?” Fluttershy didn’t take likely to Celestia’s badgering. “Why is she being so hard on Sunset?” “I don’t think that’s what she’s doing.” said Applejack “I think she’s trying to help her.” Sunset looked deep inside and remembered well all the evil she and her friends had stopped before-- sadly, including herself. “She’s right.” she thought “We’ve been in this tournament for so long, and I’ve been so busy worrying about Princess Twilight and Spike, I almost completely lost sight of who I really am, and what I stand for.” All the memories flashed by her as a song played, and she sang in her mind. I stand for love and friendship growing Having come so far since the evil stopped flowing Saw the light, clear in sight and took flight, on the wind that was blowing. Been fighting baddies as they strike The road is long, but I will hike. Going strong, and along, in a song With the friends I like We’re Equestria Girls…! Friendship shining so bright Equestria Girls…! Guiding us through the fight Hold up our heads and bask in the light Fighting for good and all that’s right… …Equestria girls! A long instrumental played as more memories flashed, reflected those of the better times—just hanging out, shopping, going to movies, swimming, skating, all that stuff, which only made the friendship magic grow stronger between the girls. We’re Equestria Girls…! Friendship shining so bright Equestria Girls…! Guiding us through the fight Hold up our heads and bask in the light Fighting for good and all that’s right… …Equestria girls!” The song ended, and Sunset stood straight at tall, smiling proudly. “Thanks, I needed that.” Celestia smiled proudly at her and muttered, “I love being an educator.” Twilight and Applejack nodded while smirking. “Looks like Celestia helped Sunset realize that it’s not over yet.” said Twilight. “Eeyup,” agreed Applejack “And now Sunset can really get her dueling game going.” Terra wasn’t so sure though, “How can she step it up with those three monsters breathing her down? It’ll take a miracle to pull through.” Sunset felt the same way, but with the newfound confidence Celestia gave her, she placed her fingers over her deck… “…I draw!” She compared her two cards, and realized maybe she had a shot now. “I play CARD OF SANCTITY, so we both draw until we each hold six cards.” Both ladies drew, and Sunset only hoped she hadn’t given Celestia an upper-hand, but she liked what she drew. “It’s time for me to take control of this duel! I set the Pendulum Scale with Scale 2 OAFDRAGON MAGICIAN and Scale 8 TIMEGAZER MAGICIAN!” The two magicians took their positions up in the lights and the magical pendulum began to swing between them. “Not so fast!” called Celestia “I activate Tornado Dragon’s special ability!” “Huh?” “Once per turn, by using an overlay unit, I can target one spell or trap you control, and then destroy it.” Sunset gasped, knowing her Pendulum cards were like spell card, and in a huge flash, Timegazer Magician was vanquished. “So there!” “Ha!” Sunset snapped “As if I didn’t have a backup plan.” “What?!” yelped Celestia. “Knowing you know that I love to Pendulum Summon, I figured you’d try and stop me somehow, and it’s a good thing I have more cards in my hand. Now I set Scale 5 WISDOM-EYE MAGICIAN, in Pendulum Zone!” Her new monster took its position. “Now that that’s done, I can use Oaf Dragon Magician’s pendulum ability—since I have another “Magician” in my other Pendulum zone, I can now add Timegazer Magician back into my hand!” She grabbed her card, much to Celestia’s chagrin. “And now,” hollered sunset “I’ll use Wisdom-Eye Magciian’s ability, which lets me destroy him and send him to my Extra Deck, but in return I get to take a “Magician” out of my deck and put it in his place, in the Pendulum Zone.” She grabbed her card, “I choose Scale 8 DRAGONPIT MAGICIAN!” Her scale was set once again, and her two magicians nodded at one another. Celestia growled and cringed softly. “Now I can summon monsters between levels 3 and 7 all at the same time!” Sunset held up her arm and called out her chant to the magical pendulum. “As the pendulum swings from forth to back My monsters come forth… to launch an attack! …Behold my monsters!” Four shots of light shot down from the air, and her monsters appeared. “TIMEGAZER MAGICIAN…!” (Atk: 800) “WISDOM-EYE MAGICIAN…!” (Atk: 1500) “DRAGON CALLER MAGICIAN…” (Atk: 2000) “DHARMA-EYE MAGICIAN…” (Def: 2700) “Four monsters, and two are level 7 monsters!” cried Celestia “That can only mean…!” Sunset nodded, “Exactly right, I overlay these two monsters to build the Overlay Network!” As her monster formed, she recited and called up to it… “With wings so sharp and a shining light I summon a dragon of great might! …I Xyz Summon ODD-EYES ABSOLUTE DRAGON!” Her mighty dragon roared loudly. (Atk: 2800) Celestia gawked up at it with a mix of shock and astonishment. “Impressive.” “Oh, you haven’t seen anything yet,” teased Sunset, “Now I engage my Battle Phase, and I’ll have my Timegazer Magician attack your Mudragon.” Her monster complied and began to rush forth, even though it was plenty weaker than any of Celestia’s monsters, it was all part of Sunset’s plan. “Now I play Absolute Dragon’s abbility! I can use one overlay unit to stop any monster attacking…” Her magician skid to a dead halt and returned to his original position. “…Now I get to summon a monster from my graveyard, my ODD-EYES VORTEX DRAGON!” (Atk: 2500) Celestia narrowed her eyes at the newly summoned dragon, which roared loudly, right in Celestia’s face blowing her hair in the winds. Sunset snuffed proudly and called up to her Vortex Dragon, “Since he was special summoned, he gets to send one of your attack monster’s off the field!” “Ha!” snapped Celestia “It won’t be that easy I’m afraid, not since that I have Mudragon’s ability, which I play now! It allows me to change his attribute from Water to Light, which means, and so, and now you can’t target any of my monsters with card effects, not while they have the same attribute as Mudragon.” She then cringed softly, knowing what that left Sunset to do. “Then I guess I’ll just have to send your Tornado Dragon away, and serves it right too for trying to disrupt my strategy!” With that, her Vortex Dragon flapped its huge wings, and sent Celestia’s Xyz Momster away, back to the Extra Deck. “Well, I was close,” said Sunset “But that still doesn’t mean I can’t destroy Mudragon in battle! Go Odd-Eyes.” Her dragon prepared to attack, opening its huge jaws to breathe its massive flames. “Think again!” hissed Celestia. “Uh…?” “I activate my trap card, NEGATE ATTACK!” “Oh, no!” cried Sunset, but the battle was over and her monsters were now powerless to do much of anything. Sunset had no choice but to lay one card facedown and end her turn. Masquerade shook his head and muttered softly, “How typical. Waiting for her to summon all those monsters out and spare her from trouble.” He then looked over at Sunset, she was cringing and shaking most miserably, unable to believe she blew it that hard. “I’ll end my turn!” she said as she lay her last card facedown, and all the other spectators watching from their screens felt worried for Sunset. “I’m not giving up though.” she declared. “I’m glad to hear of that.” said Celestia “Now it’s my draw!” She really liked what she had drawn this time and peeked over the card at Sunset, which made her gulp hard. “Now I play the Field Spell… CELESTIA!” “…Her favorite card!” Sunset groaned in thought as the field began to change around them. Robin shuddered softly as he watched it all on the screen, remembering the card well when he had faced Celestia. Celestia basked in the light and colored mist around her. Then she called to Sunset, you know what happens now; all Wyrm Monsters gain 300 attack and defense points.” (Atk: 1900) -----> (Atk: 2200) (Atk: 2600) -----> (Atk: 2900) “And now Sunset, prepare yourself, because I’m going to make a move that will astound you and anyone else watching.” Sunset felt intrigued, but worried at the same time, as did everyone else. “I play the spell MAGICAL SKY MIRROR. It allows me to activate any spell you played on your last turn for myself.” “What?!” cried Sunset. Celestia nodded, “I think I’ll go ahead and play CARD OF SANCTITY, so our hands are once again refreshed with six cards.” Sunset drew until her hand was full, while Celestia only drew one card. “Why would she play that?” Sunset wondered in thought “She just let me refresh my hand, while she hasn’t done anything.” “And now, Sunset, I activate the spell CARD EXCHANGE! The effect of this spell forces each of us to swap our entire hands with one another.” Sunset’s mouth hung wide open. “You mean I have to give you my cards and you take all mine?” Celestia nodded and began to walk towards the center of the field. Sunset had no choice but to obey. So she approached Celestia, and they traded their hands. Celestia grinned at what she saw Sunset had drawn thanks to her, which made Sunset’s feel a little sick to her stomach. Celestia then grabbed two cards, “I use Scale 3 XIANGKE MAGICIAN and Scale 8 XIANGSHENG MAGICIAN to set my own Pendulum Scale!” Sunset whimpered as she watched her own monsters rise up into the lights. Everyone watching the duel was simply shocked! “Celestia’s going to try to Pendulum Summon?!” cried Applejack “I thought she didn’t know how?” “Technically, she said she couldn’t.” corrected Twilight “Seeing as her deck lacks Pendulum Cards, she decided to take them off of Sunset.” “That is absolutely incredibly!” cried Fluttershy “I’m so shocked and excited… I could just… Scream!” She drew in a huge breath, and let out a rather faint little “Eee…” The girls all blinked at her feeling it was pretty lame. “Still,” Terra pointed out, “She gave her hand away to Sunset. How can she summon her own monsters now?” Celestia grinned and grabbed one of Sunset’s other cards, “Now I activate the spell MAGICAL STONE EXCAVATION!” “Oh, no, not that card!” cried Sunset. Celestia was now able to discard two of Sunset’s cards to the graveyard, and grab one spell card from her own graveyard, and it was obvious which one she wanted. “Once again I play CARD EXCHANGE,which means we must exchange out entire hands again.” Sunset gave Celestia back all five of her cards, and she got back just one. “A flawless play!” said Luna “Not only did my sister gain back her entire hand, but she destroyed Sunset’s as well.” Shining Armor was twitching with anxiety, “I can hardly wait to see what she’ll do next.” “I don’t think we’ll be waiting too long.” said Vic. Celestia retook her position and then looked up at her two captured Pendulum Monsters. “I’ve always wanted to try this, and here it goes…! …I Pendulum Summon!” The portal opened above her, and two monsters rained down in shots of light! “MAGMA DRAGON…” (Atk: 1600) -----> (Atk: 1900) “MYSTERY SHELL DRAGON…” (Atk: 2000) -----> (Atk: 2300) Celestia was astounded, almost unable to believe that she actually Pendulum Summoned. It felt so wonderful! Even Loki was impressed as he gazed at her with a sinister yet soft grin. “She can Pendulum Summon even without her own Pendulum Cards. She continues to impress me.” Rubeus shook his head chuckling softly. “Now,” Celestia called “Since Magma Dragon Was special summoned, that means I get to summon out my Night Dragonlich from the graveyard, but its effects will be negated.” (Def: 0) -----> (Def: 300) Sunset still felt cringed, worried and anticipating what was coming next. Celestia raised her arm up, “I overlay my level 4 Dragolich and Magma Dragon and I Xyz Summon TORNADO DRAGON back to the field!” (Atk: 2100) -----> (Atk: 2400) “Oh, no…! Not him again!” groaned Sunset “At least now my monsters gain all their defense-points back.” Despite that her monsters had all their powers back, she was still not too reassured. Celestia looked up at her Tornado Dragon, “You remember his ability, don’t you? I use an Overlay unit, and I can destroy one spell or trap on your field.” She eyed at Sunset’s facedown card and destroyed it instantly. “No!” cried sunset “I was counting on that trap to save me!” “Well, it won’t now.” taunted Celestia. “Now I activate the spell STAR CHANGER! It allows me to target my Baxi and increase its level by one.” “That means it’ll become Level 9?” cried Sunset. “Precisely, and now I’m pretty sure I remember how these Pendulum Cards of yours work. First: Xiangsheng Magician uses her Pendulum Ability on my Tornado Dragon, which increases its rank to match that of my Baxia.” Her magician did exactly as she though it would; she shot her magical arrow between the two monsters and changing Tornado Dragon to Rank 9. “And now,” said Celestia “Xiangke Magician uses his power so that can Xyz Summon using an Xyz Monster, treating its rank as though it were a level.” The magician wielded his weapon, casting light on Tornado Dragon. “I now overlay these two Level 9 monsters to rebuild the overlay network and Xyz Summon my deadliest creature… …TRUE KING OF ALL CALAMITIES!” The field shook violently as her enormous monster appeared from the portal. It stomped its huge feet at the ground and let out a big roar, blowing in Sunset’s face. (Atk: 3000) -----> (Atk: 3300) Sunset looked up, “That’s the monster you used to beat Robin with!” Celestia nodded, “That was a truly a proud moment for me, but the question is: Can you handle it; especially when I use True King’s ability; by using an overlay unit, all the monsters on the field become the attribute that I select, and I choose Light!” In a bright glow, all the monsters on the field had their attributes changed. Sunset remembered as she thought, “Why would she play that? Now it means that my monsters can’t attack or activate their effects, but it seems sort of pointless at this time. I’ve got a feeling she had good reason for doing it.” “Now,” Celestia called “I still have another effect to play, that of my Field Spell. You remember, don’t you? I banish three Wyrm monsters from my graveyard, and then I destroy one card you control.” Sunset watched as the monster spirits vanished into the image of the card, and blasted her Timegazer Magician away!” “No! Timegazer!” cried Sunset. Now I activate a spell I’m sure you’re familiar with-- DIMENSION FUSION!” Sunset’s eyes widened. Celestia snuffed, “By paying 2000 life points…” Celestia LP: 5100 -----> 3100 “…I am now able to summon the two of monsters I banished.” A large rift appeared on her side of the field and her monsters leapt out, ready for action. “BAXIA, THE LIGHT OF THE YANG ZING…!” (Atk: 2300) -----> (Atk: 2600) “NIGHT DRAGOLICH…!” (Atk: 1700) -----> (Atk: 2000) Sunset gawked in horror, and she realized “That’s why you used your king’s ability—you sent Baxia to the graveyard intended to banish it and then summon it back!” “Correct.” replied Celestia “Also, my Dragolich has his ability back, which means your monsters all go into defense mode, and their defense points become zero!” Sunset gawked in horror, and she realized “That’s why you used your king’s ability—you sent Baxia to the graveyard intended to banish it and then summon it back!” “Correct.” replied Celestia “Also, my Dragolich has his ability back, which means your monsters all go into defense mode, and their defense points become zero!” Most of Sunset’s monsters quivered and shook as they fell to their knees, and their points had dropped down, Only the Vortex Dragon remained unaffected, as it was summoned from the graveyard rather than the Main Deck or Extra Deck. This did not help Sunset in the least bit! “Celestia has more monsters than Sunset does!” cried Rarity. “Worse than that…” pointed out Rainbow “Vortex Dragon is still in Attack-Mode, Sunset’s about to take a huge hit!” Celestia put her foot forward, and she clenched fist tightly, with fire blazing in her eyes. “It’s time!” she hissed softly. “First, I’ll send Baxia to destroy your Vortex Dragon!” (Atk: 2600) VS (Atk: 2500) Sunset’s dragon didn’t have a chance and was blown to bits, much to her annoyance. Sunset LP: 1700 -----> 1600 Celestia was far from finished though… “Now my Mudragon will destroy your Absolute Dragon!” Thankfully, Odd-Eyes was in defense-mode, so Sunset didn’t take damage. “When you sent Absolute Dragon to the graveyard, you activated its ability, which lets me play an “Odd-Eyes” monster from my Extra Deck!” Her Extra Deck glowed brightly, and in a shooting ray of light, her monster appeared. “…I play ODD-EYES METEORBUST DRAGON!” (Def: 2000) ----> (Def: 0) Her dragon spread out its flaming wings over the Pendulum Zone. “When Meteorburst is summoned, I get to call one monster down from my Pendulum Zone to join us on the field. So, come on down, Dragonpit Magician!” Her monster left the Pendulum Zone and jumped down on the field. (Def: 2700) “He isn’t affected by your Dragolich because he didn’t come from the deck.” “No matter,” said Celestia “I can still destroy your monsters with all my others. …And she did! All three of her remaining monsters destroyed Sunset’s, leaving her field totally blank; Sunset had nothing left to protect herself with. “So much for all that.” sneered Celestia. “To end my turn, I shall play BLUE MEDICINE to boost my life points by 400.” Celestia LP: 3100 -----> 3500 Sunset stared up at all five of the strong monsters glaring her down. Kori tugged on her shirt collar feeling very hot and sweaty. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more intense duel before.” The others all felt the same. Shining Armor felt so stressed and warm, he took off his sweater and his neck-tie. Luna was actually twitching softly. She had never seen her sister duel so strongly before, and she thought, “Has my sister done it? Will she truly defeat Sunset?” The other spectators watched with such anxiety. Rarity was biting on a handkerchief so as not to grind her teeth. “I can’t take much more of this suspense!” she cried. The others watched hard with their eyes fixated on the screen. Even those in Terra’s room could hardly take it much longer. “How can Sunset possibly win this?” asked Terra “There’s no way she can crush all those monsters!” “She’s got a point!” whimpered Fluttershy “Even I don’t see how this can be won.” Applejack and Twilight said nothing, wondering the same thing-- How Sunset could possibly get out of this one! Masquerade remained where he was; arms folded and seemingly unimpressed, but under his mask he actually had an intrigued face as he thought, “I hate to admit it, but this duel isn’t half bad. These two sure are dueling with all their power.” Sunset was panting stressfully, losing her confidence again. “How am I going to knock these guys down?” she thought “They're all so strong, and then again even if I summon monsters to field, Dragolich will turn them all to defense-mode, and then again True King can block their special abilities.” She looked down at her only card and knew it was of no help to her, and that it wouldn't be enough. But she did remember what Celestia helped her to realize earlier, that an Equestria Girl never gave up, and she wasn’t about to go back on that now. She placed her fingers over her card, much to Celestia shock, but pleasure. “She can still duel, even though the odds are in my favor?” she thought “I guess I helped her better than I thought.” Sunset drew her card… “Giant Trunade?!” she cried in thought “This sends all spells and traps on the field back to their owners hands.” She looked over at Celestia’s field, straight at the field spell that was still in play, but then she realized the two pendulum cards she took from her as well. She looked down at her spell card, and then began to formulate a plan. “…This just might work!” she cried with glee. “Hmm…?” Celestia said “What will work?” Sunset raised her card, “I activate GIANT TRUNADE!” Celestia’s eyes widened. “This spell sends all other spell cards on the field back to their owner’s hands, which means my two magicians now return to my hand!” Surely enough, the two magicians disappeared from the pendulum zones, and the cards mysterious floated off of Celestia’s disk and hovered over to Sunset. Then, the field began to warp as it changed back to normal as the Celestia card itself went away. “My field spell!” cried Celestia “Now all my monsters’ attack powers go back to normal!” (Atk: 3300) -----> (Atk: 3000) (Atk: 2600) -----> (Atk: 2300) (Atk: 2200) -----> (Atk: 1900) (Atk: 2300) -----> (Atk: 2000) (Atk: 2000) -----> (Atk: 1700) Sunset snuffed, “And now that I have Xiangke and Xiangsheng Magician back, I’ll use them to set the Pendulum Scale!” The magicians took their places in Sunset’s Pendulm Zones, and the pendulum began to swing between them. “Now I can summon monsters between Levels 4 and 7 all at the same time! As the pendulum swings from forth to back My monsters comes forth… to launch an attack! …Behold my monsters!” Two shots of light blasted out from her Extra Deck, and her lone monster appeared. “OAFDRAGON MAGICIAN…” (Atk: 2100) “DRAGONPIT MAGICIAN…” (Atk: 2500) She only summoned the two monsters figuring they would be enough to help her… if all went well. “Very nice…” said Celestia “But I’m afraid they won’t serve you well. Remember, Dragolich turns him to defense mode, and he loses all his defense points!” The monsters all curled down as promised and lost all their points. Sunset, however, didn’t seem the least bit discouraged. “It doesn’t bother me a bit, not with what I’m about to pull. I activate FUSION RECOVERY “Ah!” cried Celestia. “Now I get to add Polymerization and Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon from the graveyard to my hand, so now I have all that I need. Go, POLYMERIZATION, and fuse Oafdragon Magician with Odd-eyes Pendulum Dragon!" The two monsters leapt up high, and Sunset recited a chant she had just made up for them as they began to merge together. “With magical forces and a dragon’s might I summon a creature of amazing sight! …I Fusion Summon RUNE-EYES PENDULUM DRAGON!” The mighty dragon let out a huge roar, with its eyes glowing brightly, and the large arch ring on its back was flowing with power. (Atk: 3000) “Rune-Eyes…!!” cried Celestia. Sunset smirked, “You obviously remember me using him before, and that means you know that since I summoned him using a Pendulum Summoned monster, Rune-Eyes is unaffected by any of your card effects.” Celestia growled! It meant that her Dragonlich couldn’t put the dragon into defense-mode, nor could her True King block its abilities either. “…And worse still!” Celestia whimpered “Because you fused Oafdragon Magician, whom is Level 6, Rune-Eyes can now make three attacks on my monsters!” “Right again, and I know just which monsters I like to attack... First I’ll attack your Baxia! Go, Rune-Eyes!” (Atk: 3000) VS (Atk: 2300) KAPOW!! Celestia’s monster was vanquished in flaming lights. Celestia LP: 3500 -----> 2800 “And now I’ll go ahead and destroy your Dragolich!” shouted Sunset, and she ordered her dragon to attack! (Atk: 3000) VS (Atk: 1700) Celestia LP: 2800 -----> 1500 “And finally,” hollered Sunset “Rune-Eyes, go… destroy True King of all Calamities!” Celestia blinked in confusion, “You’re attack my king? But that means both of our monsters will be destroyed.” “…I know.” replied Sunset, and her dragon unleashed its wrath at True King, and True King fired back at her. Both monsters were destroyed in a big explosion, and the eaves blew past the two ladies. “What was sunset thinking?” wondered Applejack “She just destroyed her best and only attacking monster!” Twilight began to feel, “Maybe she’s got something else planed, or she wouldn’t have pulled such a move.” “…An interesting comeback.” said Celestia “But you’ve now used up all your attacks, and your other monsters can’t harm me. You may as well end your turn.” Sunset only snickered. “What? Why are you laughing?” asked Celestia. “…Because I have no need to end my turn just yet. I’m just getting started.” Celestia was most confused. Sunset explained, “Now I activate the effect of FUSION SUBSTITUTE from my graveyard. I’ll bet you’re sorry you sent it there when you swapped cards with me.” Celestia growled. “Now by banishing Fusion Substitute and returning Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon from the grave to the Extra Deck, I get to draw one card.” After the effects were performed, Sunset slowly placed her fingers on her deck. “It all comes down to this last draw!” then she pulled her card out, and her eyes shimmered at it. “I play POT OF GREED, so now I can draw two more cards.” She really what she had drawn! “I activate Monster Reborn, to bring back my Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon!” (Atk: 2800) Celestia was still confused as ever. “What good does summoning that do you? It can’t attack, so it can’t hurt me.” “Actually,” snickered Sunset “It will hurt you lots, especially since I have Xiangke Magician back so he can change Absolute Dragon’s rank into a level!” Celestia gasped as the magician worked him magic. “And now…” shouted Sunset “The last card I’ll activate is PREMATURE BURIAL! All I do is pay 800 life points…” Sunset LP: 1600 -----> 800 “And now I get to summon another monster from the graveyard… my Dragoncaller Magician!” (Atk: 2400) “And now that he’s here, I’ll go ahead and use his special ability, which lets me treat him as a Dragon-Type, and just in time too, because I overlay him and my Odd-Eyes absolute dragon, so I can Xyz Summon a monster you’ve never seen before!” Celestia didn’t like the sound of that as the Overlay Network formed, and the skies lit up brightly making the ground shake. As the monster appeared, Sunset recited a chant she had made just for it. “From deep within the rages of war, comes a mighty beast with power to pour! I Xyz Summon, ODD-EYES REBELION DRAGON!” (Atk: 3000) What a dragon it was to behold; it’s dark wings billowed with smog, it’s body was all coated with thick and strong armor, and it’s roar… it was so fierce, it made Fluttershy hide behind Applejack. She could hardly bear to look at the screen now. “When did Sunset get that monster?” asked Terra. “She must’ve had it all the time,” answered applejack “She just never had a chance to play it the way things were going.” “This is it, Celestia,” called Sunset “You don’t have a chance now!” “What are you talking about?” sneered Celestia “How can that dragon stop me when I can’t even attack me?” “Simple,” answered Sunset “It has its special ability; When I Xyz Summon Rebellion Dragon using an Xyz Monster as it’s overlay, and if I can Pendulum Summon Level 7 monster, which I can…” she paused “…Odd-Eyes can instantly destroy every monster you control that’s level 7 or bellow, and for each one destroyed, you’ll take a whopping 1000 points of damage!” “AAAAAHH!!” screamed Celestia, realizing she had two monsters still in play! “Sister…!” Luna cried “She’s going to lose the duel!!” “Do your thing, Odd-Eyes!” shouted Sunset “Wipe out her monsters and her life points!” Odd-Eyes roared and unleashed its raging fury in the form of dark smoke waves that billowed onto Celestia’s field, and destroyed her monsters. Celestia screamed as she herself was blow down and her life points were all cleaned out! Sunset fell to her knees too feeling exhausted, and the duel images disappeared along with the virtual smoke from the impacts. “Winner: Sunset Shimmer!” called the referee. “She won!” cried Terra “I can’t believe it!” Neither could anyone else. “That’s a mighty heap of a duel.” said Applejack Fluttershy wiped her sweaty brow. “I’m just glad it’s over.” Rarity finally fainted into Rainbow’s arms. The gang on the camper had their eyes fixated on the screen as Sunset walked over to Celestia, who was slowly getting back up onto her feet. “Are you okay?” Sunset asked. Celestia looked rather frazzled, but she felt okay, and she smiled proudly at Sunset and quickly raised out her hand to shake hers. “Well played, Sunset. You held well and you managed to keep your head in the game.” Sunset was speechless at first, but she grabbed her Principal’s hand and fully helped her stand upright. Masquerade felt disgusted with all the mush and friendless he was witnessing, but now he was ready for his own duel, and he promised as he thought silently, “I’ll show these kids just how far friendship can get you.” As for Loki he watched as Celestia and Sunset left the platform, but he was still fixated on Celestia. “Are you disappointed?” asked Rubeus “She dueled well, but she still lost.” “Hardly…” answered Loki “She shows immense power, as well as potential, and I am still enamoured by her skills and cool head.” The thought of having someone as beautiful and as skilled as Celestia by his side completely overwhelmed Loki, and he decided “…I’m going to make her mine.”
