3rd Person's POV
Next day they all met with Discord. They were somewhere where no one could disturb them.
"You don't even know what you did" Discord was annoyed.
"Then start explaining and I might give you back the key!" Sunset was angry.
"Sunset, we could have opened the cave!" Twilight interrupted. "We could have seen what's on the inside ourselves!"
"Yeah, but what if something inside is dangerous?" Sunset tried to explain calmly. "We need to first hear his story. Maybe he knows something that we don't. If it's safe then we will go next month but I will not let us all go inside when we literally have someone who can tell us. Maybe", on the last part she eyed Discord suspiciously.
Twilight looked at her and then sighed. "You're right. I'm sorry I wasn't thinking much about it."
"It's okay. We were all scared and shocked, no one had time to think." Sunset said as she hugged her. "Now", she then angrily turned to Discord, "explain!"
"Ugh! Fine!" Discord was annoyed. "I guess you all leave me no choice."
"It all started on my first year of Hogwarts" he began to explain. "I was sorted into Slytherin and met these girls Melanie, which I called Mel, and Stacy there."
"Wait!" Sunset stopped. "Melanie as in Melanie Sentry? Flash's sister?"
"Yes!" Discord replied. "Now let me continue. Over time the three of us became the best of friends. We went through and did everything together. However, there was one Griffindor guy bullying us, just because. Shinning Armor."
"My brother?" Twilight was shocked. She didn't know this about her brother. Her brother was a bully! Did she not know him well enough? Has he changed?
"Yes, your brother." Discord replied bit annoyed then sighed and continued. "He was a year older than us and thought he is so much better than us just because he is a Griffindor. But even despite that we always stuck together and didn't let him bring us down."
Twilight couldn't help but think about her brother. He bullied Slytherins because they were Slytherins? What does he even truly think about her now? Will this influence how close they are?
This can also explain why Discord was always so annoyed with her.
"In our second year, Mel and I started dating. You see, Mel was a really shy but super nice and kind girl" he smiled while describing Mel, "she had long brown hair. She also loved flowers and plants and most importantly she would always help anyone and be there to talk to them. I wonder how did she even end up being Slytherin" then his expression became darker, "Stacy, however, was very different from her. She was mean and rude. Would try to fight anyone and everyone. But even though our differences we were friends."
"However, something happened one day. Stacy said she hates muggleborns and we saw her bully one. Mel was a muggleborn and I have nothing against them. We both actually hate those who think they are better just because they have so called "pure" blood. That's why we were so shocked to learn Stacy was one of those people."
"Oh no!" Fluttershy commented.
"That's why Mel and me started to distance from her. Beside we were in relationship and hung out without her. Always sneaking around and skipping classes. Stacy got jealous. She was so angry! Even angrier than before because, because of her hate for muggleborns, she didn't like Mel much."
"That's why she joined Shinning Armor into trying to tear our relationship apart. She convinced him that they should find the crystal in the Forbidden Forest that's in the locked cave. The key was somewhere in Hogwarts."
"Mel and me weren't aware of that at that moment. They found the key to open the cave deep in some locked room in Hogwarts' Dungeons. They have gone to the forest and found the crystal."
"It took them a while to find it, we have already reached our 3rd year. By the end of it, they knew how crystal works and that it is a teleporter to unknown. It only opens during full Moon. They have decided to push Mel into it."
"Stacy came to us very happily that she found some super cool place in the forest. We didn't like the sound of that but we trusted her so we followed her there. We were fools."
"When we came there Shinning Armor jumped out of nowhere. They attacked us and we dueled. However, during the duel Stacy managed to push Mel into the crystal. Just as she did it, the sun rose and dawn came. Full Moon was over and the portal closed", Discord was becoming more and more emotional.
"The portal closed and I couldn't save her!" he cried.
"Stacy ran away. That jerk ran away and never came back!" he was angry. "And your brother! He only now realized what he had done and explained everything to me. He had the key with him and I begged him to give it to me so I can save her next full Moon."
"But he didn't want to give it to me! He locked the cave! He locked the cave and took key with himself to his muggle home and my only chance to save Mel!" he cried.
"I didn't want to give up but he was determined to not give me the key because we don't even know if Mel is still alive and we aren't sure the crystal is portal. We don't know what it is."
"Oh Discord", Fluttershy said sadly and hugged him, "I am so sorry."
He paused to hug her and after few moments he continued. "But I didn't want to give up. I dropped out of Hogwarts and tried to find where Shining hid the key. I spent a year looking for it until I have learnt that he took it back from muggle world to Hogwarts and, under Dumbledore's permission, he locked it in the room you girls found it in."
"I decided I need to get it and faked a Herbology diploma. I have told Dumbledore I spent last year learning Herbology and working on myself and healing from what happened. He believed it. I got the job and tried to find a way to get it."
"Then you all showed up."
"Oh no!" Fluttershy said.
"We are so sorry! We didn't know. We just wanted to uncover this mystery" Twilight said.
"Yeah, we are sorry", Sunset agreed.
"You all messed into something you didn't understand! Why did you even have to find out what it is?"
"Curiosity?" Twilight said awkwardly. Discord facepalmed.
"But now I will have the key and be able to help bring Mel back. Can you give it to me now?"
"No way!" Sunset said. "We are going to help you!"
"Yes!" Twilight agreed. "Besides, you still don't know if it's a portal or something else. We have a month, we will do research and find out how to save her."
Fluttershy put a hand over his back. "Don't worry, I am sure we will get her back." She smiled.
"Thanks", Discord gave a small smile back.
"Wait!" Applejack said and everyone turned to look at her. "Just one question. Were the Dementors always there or?"
"No, no. Dumbledore put them there so no one goes again after he found out what happened."
"What about the ghost keeping the key and screaming?" Rarity asked.
"A friend of mine. I have asked her to help me locate the key."
"Alright, so now we know what to do!" Rainbow asked. "In a month we are going to save Mel!"
"I'm worried what if Stacy comes back", Applejack admitted.
"We will be ready!" Discord said.
They all were so sure of it all. But not everything goes as planned.
