Long ago there were two royal sisters who ruled over the magical land of Equestria.
The two had jobs that helped Equestria grow and flourish but no pony had a more important job than Queen Celestia, who had to look over jobs and ponies doing them and raise the sun everyday while her sister Princess Luna had a nicer job of raising the moon and looking over dreams while comforting scared ponies when they had nightmares.
Celestia became jealous over time because Luna had all kinds of emotional support from the ponies of Equestria while
Celestia only had physical support from ponies.
One day Celestia's jealousy got to her and made her become the evil Daybreaker and tried to eliminate Luna so only ponies could come to her but Luna managed to get the most powerful artifacts in Equestria known to ponies as the Elements Of Harmony.
Using the elements Luna managed to defeat her sister and trapping her in the sun for many years and making Luna the sole ruler of Equestria.
"Hm.... I think I have heard of the Elements Of Harmony somewhere in the library. I guess i have to go there and look there." Twilight said putting the book she was reading in her bag while heading towards the Canterlot Library.
"Hey! Twilight!." A voice said to her. Twilight stopped to who the voice came from and discovering it to be Twinkleshine.
"Hey Twilight! Moondancer is having a party in the west castle courtyard do you want to come?" Twinkleshine said to Twilight.
"Sorry but i have to do something at the library." She said before heading back towards the library.
"Twilight has been studying a lot lately. I wonder what she's doing." Twinkleshine said before walking away.
Meanwhile Spike is carrying books around the library and almost gets hit by Twilight when she enters.
"Hey Twilight can you look when you open the door you almost hit me!" Spike said
"Sorry Spike. Hey have you seen my copy of Predictions and Prophecies? I need it to look for something." She asked Spike
"I have that book Twilight. Here you go." He said while giving the book to Twilight.
"Thank you Spike. Lets see here.. Elements, Elements, here we are! Elements Of Harmony, see Mare in the Sun?"
"Isn't that just just an old ponies' tale?" Spike said to Twilight
"Let's see here........ Here we go! The Mare in the Sun, myth from olden pony times. A powerful pony who wanted to rule Equestria, defeated by the Elements of Harmony and imprisoned in the sun. Legend has it that on the longest day of the thousandth year, she will escape the sun and she will eternally bring daytime to everypony! Spike do you know what this means?"
"No what?" He asked Twilight
"Write a letter to the princess for me please."
"Ok Twilight." He said while getting some paper and a pen
"Dear teacher, my continuing studies of pony magic have led me to discover that we are on the precipice of disaster! For you see, the mythical Mare in the Sun is in fact Daybreaker, and she's about to return to Equestria, and bring with her eternal day! Something must be done to make sure this terrible prophecy does not come true. I await your quick response. Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle."
"Uhh how do you spell precipice?"
"Just use a different word Spike. When your done with that send that to the princess."
"I don't know if we should send it to her now. She is a little busy getting ready for the Summer Moon Celebration. Its the day after tomorrow."
"The day after tomorrow is the thousandth year of the Summer Moon Celebration! It's important that the Princess is told right away!"
"Ok. I'm gonna send it but I don't think she will do something about it." Spike sends before he sends the letter to the Princess
"The Princess trusts me completely. In all the years she's been my mentor she's never once doubted me." She says right as they receive a letter from the princess "See? I knew she would want to take immediate action."
"My dear Twilight. You know that I value your diligence and that I trust you completely but you simply must stop reading those dusty old books!" Spike says reading the letter they got
"What!"
"My dear Twilight, there is more to a young pony's life than studying, so I'm sending you to supervise the preparations for the Summer Moon Celebration in this year's location: Ponyville. And, I have an even more essential task for you to complete: make some friends!" Spike says continuing to read the letter
"Great just great." Twilight says disappointed
"Look on the bright side, Twilight. The Princess arranged for you to stay in a library. Doesn't that make you happy?" Spike asked her
"Yes, yes it does. You know why? Because I'm right! I'll check on everything quickly, then get to the library to find some proof of Daybreaker's return." Twilight replied as she got ready to go to Ponyville
After awhile Twilight and Spike arrive in Ponyville
"Will you make friends, like the Princess asked you to do?" Spike asked Twilight
"She said to check on preparations. I am her student, and I'll do my royal duty, but the fate of Equestria does not rest on me making friends." Twilight replied
"Well maybe the ponies in Ponyville have interesting things to talk about. Come on, Twilight, just try!"
"Well ok Spike." She said walking up to a bright pink pony
“Uh...Hi my name is Twilight Sparkle.” She said to the pony
The pony gasped at Twilight before speaking
“Wow! A brand new pony here in Ponyville and I’m not even ready for a welcome party!” The pink pony said
“Uhhh....What?”
“Oh! Sorry I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Pinkie Pie and I’m one of the best party planners in Ponyville! I also know everypony in Ponyville too so that's how I know your new!” She said joyfully
“Hey are you working on the Summer Moon Festival?” Twilight asked Pinkie
"Of course I am! I'm working on the Summer Moon Party and all the amazing fireworks that are gonna be going on too! I guess I'm gonna have to work on a welcome party too!"
"Ok.......Well is was nice to meet you PInkie but I have to check on everypony working on the Summer Moon Festival."
"Ok! Well i'm gonna start on your welcome party so bye!" Pinkie said before hopping away
"Well, that was interesting all right." Twilight said before she and Spike headed off to check on the food
"Summer Moon Celebration official overseer's checklist. Number two, banquet preparations: Sweet Apple Acres." Spike said checking on their list
Twilight and Spike spotted a orange pony bucking a apple tree watching as all the apples fall into the buckets below.
"Well let's get this over with quickly. Good afternoon. My name is Twilight Sparkle." She said as she started to approach her but before she could say anything else the orange pony quickly started to shake her hoof.
"Well, howdy-doo, Miss Twilight, a pleasure makin' your acquaintance. I'm Applejack. We here at Sweet Apple Acres sure do like makin' new friends! So, what can I do you for?" Applejack said just as she stopped shaking Twilight's hoof
Twilight's hoof shook even after Applejack let go of her but Spike than stopped her snickering while doing so
"Well, I am in fact here to supervise preparations for the Summer Moon Celebration. And you're in charge of the food?" Twilight asked
"We sure are sugar! Would you care to sample some?"
"Sure, just if it doesn't take long."
Applejack after hearing that quickly starts to ring a triangle before saying "Soup's on, everypony!" Before Twilight could ask what's going on dozens of ponies approached Twilight, Spike, and Applejack
"Now, why don't I introduce y'all to the Apple family?" Applejack told Twilight
"Sorry but I need to hurry and check everything." Twilight said
"Don't worry about that stuff sugar. Now this here's Apple Fritter, Apple Bumpkin, Red Gala, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Caramel Apple, Apple Strudel, Apple Tart, Baked Apples, Apple Brioche, Apple Cinnamon Crisp, Big Macintosh, Apple Bloom and Granny Smith. Why, I'd say you're already part of the family!" She said before feeding Twilight a apple
She spits it out before saying "Okay, well, I can see the food situation is handled, so we'll be on our way." but before she could leave the small filly Apple Bloom asks her sadly "Aren't you gonna stay for brunch?"
Twilight looks at her before saying "Fine. I guess I can stay for a little bit longer."
The Apple family all cheer
After a while at Sweet Apple Acres, Twilight and Spike finally get back to Ponyville
"Says here on the list that weather is next and that there's supposed to be a Pegasus pony named Rainbow Dash clearing the clouds." Spike says looking at the list
Twilight looks up at the cloudy sky and says "Well, he's not doing a very good job, is he?" and before she can go look for
her a light blue blur hits her sending them both into a pile of mud
"Oops, sorry about that." The light blue pegasus said while helping Twilight up
"Let me try something real quick my very own patented Rain-Blow Dry!" The pegasus said before flying quickly round Twilight drying her off while messing up her mane and tail
"Let me guess. You're Rainbow Dash." Twilight asked him
"The one and only. Why, you heard of me?" Rainbow said
"I heard you were supposed to be keeping the sky clear. Well i'm Twilight Sparkle, and Princess Luna sent me to check on the everything including the weather."
"Yea i'm gonna do that as soon as i'm done practicing for the Wonderbolts. They're gonna perform at the Celebration tomorrow, and I'm gonna show 'em my stuff!" Rainbow said to Twilight while relaxing on a big white cloud
"Really those Wonderbolts?"
"Yep!"
"Please. They'd never accept a Pegasus who can't even keep the sky clear for one measly day." Twilight told Rainbow
"Hey, I could clear this sky in ten seconds flat. If you doubt me than i'm gonna do it right now!"
Before Twilight could say anything Rainbow quickly clears the sky leaving nothing but the sun and the blue sky. Twilight and Spike were both surprised at what he did. Twilight quickly closed her jaw.
"You should see the look on your face. Ha! You're a laugh, Twilight Sparkle. I can't wait to hang out some more." Rainbow said before he flew off
Next was the decorations so they headed off to the town hall
"That's Beautiful....." Spike said once they got there
"Yes, this is coming along nicely. This ought'a be quick. I'll be at the library in no time."
"Not the decorations Twilight but her!" Spike said pointing at a white unicorn holding multiple bows with her horn
"How are my spines Twilight? Are they straight and neat?"
"Good afternoon. My name is-" Before Twilight could introduce herself she was interrupted by the unicorn
"Just a moment, please! I'm 'in the zone', as it were." The unicorn told Twilight before choosing a bow afterwards the unicorn turned towards Twilight
"Good afternoon darling. My name is Rarity." But before she could say anything else she spotted Twilight messy mane and tail
"Oh my stars, darling! Whatever happened to your coiffure?!" She said looking around Twilight
"Oh, you mean my mane? Well, it's a long story. I'm just here to check on the decorations, and then I'll be out of your hair!"
"What about your hair?!" Rarity said but before Twilight could do anything both she and Spike were dragged to her Boutique. While they are there Rarity chats to Twilight about where she is from
"Tell me. Where are you from?" She says while trying a dress on Twilight
"Well i'm from Canterlot and-"
"Canterlot?! Oh, I am so envious! The glamour, the sophistication! I have always dreamed of living there! I can't wait to hear all about it! Oh! let me get something real quick." Before Rarity could come back Twilight and Spike quickly get out of there
"Wasn't she wonderful?" Spike said
"Whats next on the list Spike?"
"Oh! It says here the last thing on the list is music."
Once they got to the spot where the music was being made they found a tall yellow pegasus conducting some singing birds
"Oh my. Um, stop please, everyone, umm. Excuse me, sir? I mean no offense, but your rhythm is just a teeny-tiny bit off.
Now, follow me, please." The pegasus said to a small blue jay
Before they can start back up their song Twilight comes up to them, scaring both the birds and the pegasus
"Oh i'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare everyone I just wanted to check up on your wonderful music. My name is Twilight Sparkle. What's your name?"
"Oh......Thank you. My name is Fluttershy." The pegasus said quietly but not too quiet
"Thats a nice name. Well your birds are back, so I guess everything's in order. Keep up the good work!" Twilight says before starting to walk back towards the library. But before they get back Fluttershy spots Spike and comes towards him
"Oh, I've never seen a baby dragon before. He's sooo cute!"
"Really you think i'm cute?
"Oh my, he talks. I didn't know dragons could talk. That's just so incredibly wonderful I, I just don't even know what to say!"

She says excitedly
"Well we better get back-"
"Wait! What's his name?" Fluttershy asks Twilight
"Oh my name is Spike" He tells her
"Hi Spike, I'm Fluttershy. Wow, a talking dragon! And what do dragons talk about?"
"Well, what do you wanna know?"
"Everything"
While Twilight and Spike head to the library, Spike tells Fluttershy his life story. Then they finally get there
"I am so sorry, how did we get here so fast? This is where I'm staying while in Ponyville and my poor baby dragon needs his sleep." Twilight tells Fluttershy
"No I don't!" But before he can do anything Fluttershy picks him up
"Poor thing, you simply must get into bed."
Twilight grabs him saying "Yes, yes, we'll get right on that. Well, g'night!" before closing the door
"Sorry, Spike, but I have to convince the Princess that Daybreaker is coming, and we're running out of time! I just need to be alone so I can study without a bunch of crazy ponies trying to make friends all the time. Now, where's the light?"
Suddenly the lights turn on revealing a lot of ponies including Pinkie Pie
"Surprise!" Everypony said
"Were you surprised? Were ya? Were ya?" Pinkie said
"Very surprised. Libraries are supposed to be quiet."
"What kind of welcome party would this be if it were quiet? Besides I invited everypony in Ponyville"
While all of this is going on Twilight desides to get a drink but accidentally gets hot sauce and drinks it
"Are you all right, sugarcube?" Applejack asks Twilight after she starts to turn red before heading upstairs
"Why would you have hot sauce at a party?" Spike asks before Pinkie grabs the bottle, pours it on a cupcake and eats it.
"What? I like it's taste." She says
A little while later Twilight try's to relax on her bed but can't
Spike opens the door saying "Hey Twilight! Pinkie is starting some games want to play?"
"No! Everypony here is crazy!."
"You really should lighten up, Twilight. It's a party! besides the Summer Moon Festival is starting soon." Spike says before going back down stairs
"Ugh, here I thought I'd have time to learn about the Elements of Harmony but, silly me, all this ridiculous friend-making has kept me from it! Legend has it that on the longest day of the thousandth year, she will escape the sun and bring about everlasting daytime with her. I hope the Princess was right... I hope it really is just an old pony tale." She says just as Spike comes back upstairs
"C'mon, Twilight, it's time to watch the sunset!" Spike says
Once they get to the town hall everypony gets very excited
"Isn't this exciting? Are you excited, 'cause I'm excited, I've never been so excited— well, except for the time that I saw you walking into town and I got super excited!" Pinkie tells Twilight
"Fillies and gentlecolts, as mayor of Ponyville, it is my great pleasure to announce the beginning of the Summer Moon Celebration!" The Mayor says while everypony cheers
"In just a few moments, our town will witness the magic of the sunset, and celebrate this, the longest night of the year! And now, it is my great honor to introduce to you the ruler of our land, the very pony who gives us the sun and the moon each and every day, the good, the wise, the bringer of harmony to all of Equestria...Princess Luna!" The Mayor says as the curtains open revealing and Princess Luna is missing
"This is not gonna end well" Twilight says
"Remain calm, everypony, there must be a reasonable explanation!" The Mayor says trying to calm everypony down
Suddenly a ball of fire appears revealing a long white pony with fire for a mane and tail
"Oh no...Daybreaker!"
"Oh, my beloved subjects. It's been so long since I've seen your precious little princess loving faces." Daybreaker says to everypony
Rainbow Dash tries to attack Daybreaker but Applejack manages to keep him back
"Why, am I not good enough for you? Don't you know who I am?"
"Does my crown no longer count now that I have been imprisoned for a thousand years? Did you not recall the legend?
Did you not see the signs?"
"I did. And I know who you are. You're the Mare in the Sun... Daybreaker!" Twilight says to eveypony's shock
"Well well well, somepony who remembers me. Then you also know why I'm here." Daybreaker says to Twilight
"Your here to........" Twilight tries to say
"Well remember this day, little ponies. From this moment forth, light shall last forever!
