It started many years ago in the school of friendship. Silver Sword was the headmare at that time.
"Hey, Headmare Silver."
"Yes, what is it Wind?"
"Well, I was working on the project where we had to research one of the Pillars and something that they left behind before they died. But I can't find anything that Flash Magnus left. What should I do?"
Silver thought for a minute before responding, "If you can't find anything, do some research. Try to find something that he can be remembered by."
"I'll do that. Thanks Headmare Silver."
"It's no problem, Wind."
"I need to go to Canterlot real quick. There might be something that can help in the Canterlot library."
I left the school of friendship and went to the train station with enough bits to get there and get back.
"One ticket to Canterlot." I told the ticket pony.
"That'll be 3 bits." He said
I gave the three bits and left on the train for Canterlot.
A few hours later, I arrived in Canterlot. There were many different creatures everywhere. Dragons, Griffons, Hippogriffs, Kirin, Yaks, Changelings, and Ponies all over.
"Do you know where the Canterlot Library is?" I asked a Griffon
"It's three blocks down the street, take a left, walk 4 more blocks, and turn right." said the Griffon
"Thanks." I said
"No problem." he replied
I walked to the library and went inside to start looking for a book on Flash Magnus.
"Excuse me." I said to the dragon librarian. "Where are the books on Flash Magnus?"
"Let me show you." said the dragon.
He led me to the section of the library where books on the greatest heroes that lived were located.
"This is where the book would be located."
"Great, thanks."
"You're welcome."
I looked through the whole F section before I found "History and Heroics of Flash Magnus." I brought the book back to the front desk and said, "I'd like to check this book out."
The same dragon librarian marked the book and gave it back to me. "Bring it back by Tuesday two weeks from now."
I left the library and headed back to Ponyville, reading on the way. While I was reading, I found a page describing when Flash Magnus beat 2 dragons 50 times his size with nothing but a fire-proof shield.
"The odds were against him, but Flash never gave up. With his fire-proof shield, we rode on the flames while his team were preparing a huge storm large enough to shock both of the dragons at once. Flash noticed the storm cloud and knew their idea. Without hesitation, he led the dragon straight into the storm. As soon as the dragons got inside the storm cloud, they were shocked by lightning. Black from being shocked, the dragons retreated. Flash's general and team waited for him. Then, out of the storm cloud came Flash, slightly injured from the lightning bolts, but still able to fly. The team landed on the ground, Flash gave the fire-proof shield back to the general, but the general refused to take it. He said that only someone as loyal as you is worthy to have it."
"That was intense" I said, "I'd never be able to take on one dragon half that size."
I was about to put the book away before I realized something, maybe there is something that he left, but nocreature noticed it before.
When I got back to Ponyville, I went to the castle of friendship to look for a book that showed how to make a shield just like Flash's shield. Luckily, I found one. The next day, I started working on the shield.
After 5 hours, I finished it. Then I went back to Canterlot to show Princess Twilight the shield.
"Princess" said one of the royal guards "There's a Pegasus mare here to see you."
"Send her in." said Princess Twilight
The guard let me in and I walked in and bowed to Princess Twilight.
"Your majesty, I've come because I wanted to show something to you."
Then I got out the shield and showed it to her and her dragon assistant Spike. "Spike, breathe fire at me."
"Are you sure, my fire is very hot" he said
"Yes, I'm sure."
Spike breathed fire at me and I blocked it with the shield. They couldn't see me because of the fire, but I was there. Spike stopped breathing fire after 30 seconds and backed up.
When I felt the heat from the fire vanish, I lowered the shield and surprised the Princess and Spike.
"I created a replica of Flash Magnus' fire-proof shield."
They were both amazed. "How did you do this?" asked Princess Twilight
I replied, "I found a book with instructions on how to make it in your old castle in Ponyville."
"I was also thinking, maybe you could start making more shields like this one and we could make a new sport in honor of Flash's fight against the dragons, fire-surfing."
"That's a good idea, um."
"Oh, apologies. My name is Wind fisher."
"Wind fisher. I'll be sure to have you as the idea behind the fire-proof shields and fire-surfing."
"Thank you, your majesty. Here is the instructions for how to make a fire-proof shield." I said, giving her the book. Then I left the castle.
Princess Twilight started building a factory for fire-proof shields immediately. The fire-proof shields quickly became super popular. Pretty soon, every creature wanted one. Fire-surfing also became popular quickly. Within a month, they were have fire-surfing races, fire-surfing competitions, they even made fire-surfing one of the events for the Equestria games.
"And that is the origin of fire-surfing"
"WOW." said Rose. "You started this sport?"
"Yeah, I did. Now, who wants to have another race?"
"I do" Garry, Ginger, and Rose said at the same time.
And the four friends went back to the dragons for their next race.
