Chapter 1
Homebound
I was leaning back, reading the new comics based on DB. Spike and I had been here for a good hour going through the first five or six comics. Spike liked the depiction of the other mechs and the action scenes whereas I like the art style and how they still kept to DBs personality consistent. Pinkie had joined us as with some treats for us to eat while going through them.
*Burp*
Although I thought that was the sweets, the lime green fire soon formed a letter. It dropped into waiting claws which quickly tore it open. He lifted the letter out of the envelope and unfolded it.
"Ooo, a letter! Who's it from, who's it from?! " Pinkie pie asked rapidly.
Spike took a look at the letter before responding. "It's from the princesses. It basically saids for Connor to go to Canterlot. They say that they might have found a way to send you home. ".
That immediately caught my attention.
"A way home? Does it say how or when? Should I go pack? " I asked.
"I don't know. I assume you need to pack but it doesn't say. " He answered.
Pinkie gasped and jumped up. "I need to go plan a goodbye party now! See ya later! " Pinkie pie said while hovering mid-air. She landed then dashed inside.
Spike and I got up, picked up our stuff and headed towards the library. It was now about half past 8 in the morning and the residents of ponyville were now out and about. The last of the shops were opening and the smell of freshly made foods wafted in the air.
As they neared the library, Spike gave me the comics so he was only carrying the letter. He opened the door and walked in. As he did, he called out to make sure there was someone there.
"Hey, Twilight! You've got a letter from the princesses! Are you…" Spike was interrupted by a "WHAT! " before the unicorn in question popped into existence in front of us. Spike handed her the letter which her magic snatched up, unfolded and she started to read.
"The princesses found a new spell! This is amazing! Spike, do you have the packing checklist? " Twi asked as her magic collected stuff from all over the place.
Ink pots, quills, paper, toothbrush and toothpaste and more. It all flew into a bag that had appeared from somewhere. As I stood and watched the amazing spectacle, Spike had gone to a shelf, picked out a list and was checking everything in the bag. That never gets old.
"Just missing the extra spare copy of the bag checklist. " said Spike as he put the list back.
I looked at him and asked "Hey, Spike, where do I put these? ". He pointed to the kitchen sides. I walked in, put them down then met them outside.
"The letter saids to get the elements bearer's, which is me and my friends, and Connor Irons to Canterlot for the spell. Let's go get the others. " Twi said with a letter in magic. She then led us down the streets to go collect the group.
First stop was Rarity, who had the day off. We walked in and saw her amongst literal piles of fabric and gems. As the bell above the door rang, she looked up at us quickly.
"Oh, hello darling. " said Rarity.
"Hi Rarity. We've got a letter from the princesses. Would you want to come with us? " Twilight said, hovering the letter in her magic.
"Well, as you can see darling, I'm quite busy. This should take all day. But I shall be in Canterlot tomorrow, if that's good with you dear? " she said.
"Sure, that'll be fine. See you then! " Twi replied as she turned and left.
"Bye Rarity! " Spike said as he closed the door. His crush on her was so clear to see, it was funny.
Next stop was Rainbow Dash. We found her napping on a cloud like normal. So Twi and Spike tried shouting. Not much happened. I then gave it a try.
"HEY! SLOWPOKE! YOU SAID YOU COULD CLEAR THE SKY IN TEN SECONDS FLAT, YET ITS BEEN TEN MINUTES AND THERE'S STILL CLOUDS! YOUR NO WAY NEAR THE FASTEST FLIER EVER! " I shouted at the top of my lungs.
The rainbow trail left the cloud and barrelled for me. I threw myself to the floor before she passed over me and landed. I got up to a scowling pony.
"Just so you know, I didn't mean what I said. It was the only way I could think of to wake you up. You are the fastest pony in Equestria. " I said to try and calm RD down.
"I am the fastest pony in Equestria and don't you forget it mister. " she said before looking at Twilight and Spike. "What's up guy? " she asked.
Twi simply waved the letter at her.
"Princesses want us? What this time? " RD asked.
"They've found a way to send me back. " I said.
She looked surprised for a moment. "You're leaving. Why didn't you say so? "
"You were asleep…" Spike stated bluntly.
"Oh...yeah…".
We now headed to Fluttershy's house. The animals were out and about so she must have fed them recently.
Spike knocked her and said "Hey, Fluttershy. We've got a letter from the princesses. We need you to come with us to Canterlot. ".
We heard her and the animals inside before we heard some birds fly out an open window and squirrels and rabbits came out the cat flap. The door opened and Fluttershy poked her head around the corner.
"Oh...hi Twilight. " said Fluttershy in a near whisper. She opened the door a bit more so she could see the rest of us.
"Hey. " I said casually. Spike waved at her while Twilight started explaining what the letter said and what we were doing again.
"Connors really leaving? " she asked.
"According to the letter, it seems so. " Twi said. Fluttershy ducked back into her house. The sound of food being put into bowls and notes being left were heard before she came out. And walked with us.
Finally, we stopped at sweet apple acres. Applejack was out and about. By the looks of it she was repairing something, probably a fence or the barn. She turned to us as we approached.
"Howdy Twi. " Applejack said cheerfully.
"Hi AJ. We've got a letter from the princesses. Are you OK to come with us? "
She smiled before saying "Yeah, sure thing. I'm ah just put these here tools in the barn then I'll meet ya at the station. ". She trotted off as we headed off to the station ourselves.
With all 6 notified, they headed to the station. I went home and packed. Most of the clothes fit in one suitcase and other belongings, like my minigun, simple repair tools and my baseball bat, fitted in the other. My pistol was put in its holster around my waist. I hid the keys under the doormat and left for the station myself.
Waiting there was Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Fluttershy and Pinkie with a crate full of god-knows-what. Even DB was there. Probably was found as they went to the station.
"Ready to go? " I asked. They all nodded. After waiting for about 5 minutes, the train arrived and we got on.
Once everyone was settled down, we started to chat. "So are you excited to go home? " Twi asked.
"Yeah, can't wait. No offense but I preferred my home world. But hey, you never know. I could return one day. Hopefully with a way back next time. " I joked.
"Maybe we could come with you? Or if you come back, bring something from your world. " RD said.
"Ooh, what about cakes or cookies or some other treats? Or party's? " Pinkie excitedly said.
"I'd be happy with a simple card, if that ain't much. " said Applejack.
I smiled. "If I come back, I'll bring lots of gifts, I promise. ". Pinkie then darted in front of me with a straight face which was slightly unnerving.
"Pinkie promise? " she asked. "Pinkie promise. Cross my heart and hope to die, stick a needle in my eye. " I said, before seeing the looks I was getting from everyone.
"What? ". "Why would you stick a needle in your eye!? " Twi shouted with a shocked look.
"It's just a phrase. I wouldn't actually do it. " I said.
Pinkie piped up. "Silly. It goes 'cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye. ". As she said it, Pinkie pulled a cupcake from somewhere and shoved it in her eye.
We continued to talk till reaching Canterlot. The castle still stood there on the mountain which would still give engineers in my world either a nightmare or a wet dream. The train stopped and we got off. They then got DB off before the guards took us to the castle.
We walked the streets and saw that nearly everything was back to normal. The citizens looked at me and DB not like before. They looked at us with awe and happiness. All the children were pointing at the mech which they saw in their comics.
We reached the castle which looked as awe inspiring as normal and we walked in. DB stayed outside to guard because he was too big to come in.
We passed nobles, maids and royal guards as we walked the long corridors to the throne room. The guards outside the room however stopped us as there was a discussion going on at the moment and that we would be seen shortly.
After a short time, a random and unhappy noble stormed out through the doors. We took this opportunity to enter.
"Ahh, hello my little ponies. " Celestia said from her throne.
*Cough.Cough*
"Hello to you too, Connor and Spike. " Luna chuckled from her throne next to Celestia.
"We assume that you are here for the good news? " Celestia said.
"Yes, your highness. We came as soon as we could. " Twilight said, the rest of the group nodding.
"And we assume that you do want to go home? " asked Luna.
"Yeah, that would be right. " I said casually.
The two sisters then got up from their thrones. "Then let us not waste our time. " she said before both horns glowed and, in a literal flash, we were in the royal garden.
I staggered a bit while holding my stomach contents in. I righted myself using the suitcase I had with me and saw the additional number of unicorns and DB. Upon seeing the princess nod to them, they started the spell.
"While the spell is being prepared, I would like to thank you and your friend for helping Equestria and for your heroic actions. Please take this as a reminder of our gratitude. " said Celestia. Her horn glowed again and a necklace appeared in front of me. It had a simple string lace with a black jewel on it. The jewel also had a bright, lime green part in the middle.
I took it and put it around my neck. It shimmered in the sun like obsidian.
"Thanks, I won't forget you all. Promise. " I said to the princesses.
Two familiar guards then approached with another gift.
"Blocked, Blade, good to see you. ".
"Good to see you too. " Blade wing said and Blocked heart gave me a pin.
"We saw the badges and straps on your uniform when you first came here, so we got you a royal guard badge. If you ever come back, we'll be happy to see a fellow guard. " he said.
As he finished, the portal finished forming. It was a swirling light of multiple colours. The grass beneath it swayed slightly from the almost unnoticeable tug of the portal.
Pinkie Pie's party cannon exploded with confetti with a 'goodbye' banner floating in the air as if gravity was asleep.
"Well, this is goodbye. " I said as I waved to them. DB was already moving into the portal.
Just as DB was almost through, the portal created a shockwave and the tug became a full force suction. I was pulled off my feet as I was pulled in. The last thing I remember was someone shouting.
"No! "
Before I was hit in the face by the suitcase I was carrying and blacked out.
