It’s been three days since Luna had her double battle with Shadow on Bomba island and now she and James were on their way to Muscle island. They were very close to Mossdeep city and Luna gym battle, but James Lapras had to rest, and it was almost dark in Hoenn.
Once they were on the island, James called back his Lapras. “Welcome to Muscle island, where Pokémon help people get in shape.” James said to Luna.
“You don’t expect us to stay here for the night?” She asked with some concern in her voice.
“I am not going to sail on my Lapras in the dark and there’s no more ships that runs today, so yes we have to stay here.”
Luna wasn’t happy with this, but she wasn’t about to argued with James words, he was right, beginning on the ocean in the dark isn’t safe.
Once they left the dock, they headed inlands and once they entered the woods Luna could see bunch of men and women training on different equipment’s and Pokémon were helping them. Luna could see a man lifting two Geodude’s in each hand, some were climbing robes. This was nothing she want to do considering she was became exhausted by just looking at them.
Then James decided to speak. “This place hasn’t chance, that’s for sure.” Luna could only guess that James had been on the island before. “Come on, let’s find somewhere to set up camp.” Luna just agreed with a nod, but they didn’t get very far.
“Well, well. Is it not James, it’s been a while.” Walking towards the couple was a man with brown hair, he was wearing a purple training shirt with some black pants and some training shoes. He also has some muscles which Luna thought was a little silly considering he look proud of them. “Are you back to get beaten again?” The man said with some tease in his voice.
James jus trolled his eyes. “No, me and my girlfriend are just spending the night here and if remember correctly, I beat you in Pokémon battle last time I was here not the other way around.”
The man just crossed his arms. “If you say so.” He then look at Luna. “So, your James girlfriend? My name is Rocky and maybe you could use a guy like me to keep your company rather than James.” Luna wasn’t sure what was going on right now, was this Rocky hitting on her? If so she wasn’t interested, at all. Rocky then grabbed her arm. “What do you say?”
Before James could react Luna had already slap him in the face. “Let go of me you perv.” That got everyone to stop training to look at the commotion.
Rocky touched where Luna had slap him, he then smile creepy. “Your feisty, I like that. Then how about this, we have a Pokémon battle and if I win I can take you on a date, what do you say?”
Was this guy for real? That was all Luna could think, here was man she had just meet and he was asking her on a date and a Pokémon battle? She had never meet a more creepy human male before and she had meet a couple of them. She didn’t really want to battle him but if beating him was apparently the only way he would leave her alone.
“Fine.” She managed to get free from his grip. “Let’s have a Pokémon battle but if I beat you, you will leave us alone.” She told him while rubbing her arm.
Rocky smile never left his face. “Don’t get cocky, I’m the strongest trainer on this island and no one has beaten me yet.” James couldn’t help but roll his eyes when he heard that. “There’s a place by the beach where we can have the battle, follow me.” He started to walk towards the beach, Luna and James followed him. As they walk Rocky saw that the rest of people there looking at them. “What are you looking at? Get back to work.” They did.
James walk up to Luna. “Are you sure you want to do this?” He asked Luna.
“Not really, but I want to teach him a lesson in how to treat women and beside, this will be good training before my gym battle.” James could argued with that and he really hope that Luna managed to win over Rocky, he did that the last time he was on the island.
Once they were at the beach, Luna and Rocky stood on a couple of rocks while James sat on a rock a few feet from them, Rocky don’t want a judge or anyone cheering on his opponent which James thinks is stupide.
Rocky took out two Pokéball’s. “Let’s see how good your connection is with your Pokémon.” He then threw the Pokéball’s. “Come out Quagsire and Walrein.” Out came two Pokémon that Luna had never seen before.
Luna took out her Pokémon and pointed at the one with the dull look.
Quagsire the water fish Pokémon. Quagsire hunts for food by leaving its mouth wide open in water and waiting for its prey to blunder in unaware. Because the Pokémon does not move, it does not get very hungry.
She then pointed at the one with tusks.
Walrein the ice break Pokémon. Walrein’s two massively developed tusks can totally shatter blocks of ice weighing 10 tons with one blow. This Pokémon’s thick coat of blubber insulates it from subzero temperatures.
She look at the data. ‘Quagsire is water/ground and Walrein is an ice/water, alright then.’ She put away her dex and took out two Pokéball’s and threw them up in the air. “Come out Bulbasaur and Misdreavus.” Out came the seed and screech Pokémon ready for battle.
When James saw her choice, he was a little surprised, he could understand Bulbasaur but not Misdreavus. She could have chosen Grovyle considering he had an advantage over both of them, he was also curious to see how she would handle Rocky’s strategy.
Rocky crossed his arms. “Ladies first.” He said with confident and a smile.
Luna was ready wipe that smile of his face. “Use razor leaf on Quagsire Bulbasaur and Misdreavus you use shadow ball on Walrein.” Both of her Pokémon attack.
Rocky’s just smiled. “Quagsire use mud shot and Walrein use ice ball.” Quagsire opened its mouth and mud came out of it while Walrein send out an ice ball.
Quagsire’s attack collided with Bulbasaur attack which create a small explosion, when Walrein’s ice ball collided with the shadow ball, Misdreavus attack managed to beat the ice and Walrein was hit by the shadow ball but it didn’t look like it was hurt at all.
James was surprised to see Rocky use Quagsire considering he usually use the water fish Pokémon for defence, which is going to be difficult thanks to Luna’s Bulbasaur.
“Let’s keep on attacking, use ice ball Walrein.” The ice break Pokémon opened its mouth to send out another ice ball.
“Use Shadow ball Misdreavus.” The screech Pokémon send away another black ball. When the two attacks collide, the outcome was different this time it created a small explosion. Luna was shocked when she was that ‘What’s going on? Misdreavus attack was stronger before.’ She thought for herself.
Rocky couldn’t help but laugh when he saw Luna expression. “You are probably wondering what just happened, well I’ll tell you. You see, ice ball gets more powerful each time it gets used. Let’s us another ice ball.” Walrein opened its mouth again and another ice ball flew out.
This time Luna had a plan. “Misdreavus use psychic.” Misdreavus eyes started to glow and the ice ball stopped in mid air which shock Rocky and his Pokémon. “Send it back.” Misdreavus send the ball back to its owner and it hit Walrein right in the chest.
James couldn’t help but tilt his head to the side in confusion, he didn’t know that Misdreavus could use psychic, maybe it learn the move when Luna was training.
Rocky on the other hand was too happy for what happened. “You are going to pay for that, use blizzard.” Walrein opened its mouth and send out a blizzard which paralyzed both of Luna’s Pokémon. “I’m not done yet, use blizzard Quagsire.” Luna’s eyes widen when the water fish Pokémon opened its mouth and a blizzard came out.
James was shocked when he heard that, Quagsire couldn’t use blizzard last time he battle Rocky, it was around seven years since last time he battle muscle dork, so the Pokémon had to learn it since then. ‘What are you going to do Luna.’ He thought while looking at her with concern.
Luna could only see her Pokémon get pinned down by two blizzard attacks and she had to something fast, Misdreavus might hold on for a while but not Bulbasaur, he was starting to struggle. She had to do something and there was only one thing she could come up with.
“Misdreavus, if you can do it use psychic on Walrein.” Misdreavus tried to do it but considering she got two blizzard to the face, it was a little difficult. “I know you can do it I believe in you.” That was all Misdreavus needed to hear, she opened her eyes and then she lifted Walrein in the air. “Now, slam him against Quagsire.” Before Rocky or Quagsire could react, Misdreavus slammed the ice break Pokémon into the water fish Pokémon cancelling both attacks. Walrein landed on top of Quagsire. “Let’s finish this, use razor leaf and Shadow ball.” Both of Luna’s Pokémon attack Rocky’s Pokémon who was lying on top of each other and could do anything as the attacks hit, both Pokémon knocked out.
Rocky threw his hands up in frustration. “I can’t believe I lost.”
James just shook his head by Rocky’s behaviour. “He has chance since the last time I saw him, that’s for sure.”
Luna called back both of her Pokémon. “There, I won and now you can leave me alone.” She started to walk to where James was standing. “If he really think I would go out him, he’s crazy.” She mumble to herself.
Later that night, they had set up camp in the woods long away from the training camp. They didn’t want anything to do with Rocky or the others.
After they had made fire, Luna just started into it, she was in her own world think about what happened today.
“A dollar for your thoughts.”
James voice brought her back, she blink a few times while looking at him. “What?”
“I was just wondering what you were think.”
“Oh.” She went look back at the fire. “I was just think about today and I realized that this might be the strangers thing that has happened to me since I arrived in this world.”
“Even weird than traveling to alternative universe where you meet a male version of yourself.”
Luna couldn’t help but giggle of that. “Ok, maybe the second strangest thing that has happened to me after arriving in this world.”
Is Luna right about that? Only time will tell.
