Chapter 4: Advice

Chapter 4: Advice

Rainbow Dash sped toward her friend's house, the library. She found it weird that anypony could live in the attic of some old library. It occurred to her that she couldn't recall who ran the library before her friend, a unicorn by the name of Twilight Sparkle.
Rainbow giggled at what happened the last time she asked for advice from Twilight.
"Can I talk to you about something, Twilight?" Rainbow had asked.
"Of course, Rainbow Dash," Twilight replied. "We are friends, after all."
"Well..." Rainbow hesitated. "Is there a spell that you can do to make me, you know, faster?"
Twilight laughed. "Why in Equestria would I do that? You're the fastest pony around!"
Rainbow glared.
"No, I don't have a spell for that," Twilight said flatly, then brightened as if a lightbulb appeared above her head. "But I do have some books on the subject--"
As soon as Rainbow heard the word "books," she booked out of there herself.
Yeah, that was terrible, Rainbow thought to herself. The cold night air made her eyes teary as she flew.
She thought about how many moments she shared with Twilight that were embarrassing for the both of them. She remembered the time when--
BONK!
Rainbow Dash collided with the library's outside wall, falling ten feet onto the ground below.
After regaining her composure, Rainbow made her way to the front door of the library. Once she made it, she stood at the door for a moment to think about how she was going to ask her question to Twilight.
With a sigh, Rainbow lifted her front right hoof and knocked in the library's door, nervous about the subject they would discuss.
A moment later, an exhausted-looking baby dragon answered the door. It was Twilight's assistant, Spike. He raised an eyebrow. "Hi, Dash," he yawned.
Rainbow could tell he was asleep when she arrived. That's why she knocked; she didn't want to let herself in while the residents were sleeping. Wouldn't want to awaken them. Had it been daytime, she would have simply walked in.
"Hey, Spike," She said quietly, looking from side to side to make sure nopony was roaming the darkened streets of Ponyville. "Is...is Twilight here?" she asked.
Spike nodded groggily, stepping aside for Rainbow.
"Thanks, Spike," she said, hearing the door slowly close behind her. She turned to Spike, who had fallen asleep on the spot, leaning against the wall. She reminded herself to talk to Twilight about Spike after the actual topic of interest.
She found the stairs toward the back of the room. She always thought it was so amazing how the tree-built facility looked so much larger on the inside than it did from the outside.
Rainbow grew more nervous with every ascending step to Twilight's room. Ohmygosh, ohmygosh, ohmygosh, ohmygosh, she thought, what am I gonna tell her? I can't tell her I'm a fillyfooler! Ohmygosh, ohmygosh, ohmygosh!
She was at the top of the stairs before she knew it. She took a deep breath before saying, "H-hey Twilight?"
Twilight Sparkle looked up from the book she was studying. She had been a book nerd ever since she moved to Ponyville from Canterlot, sent as a student by Princess Celestia to study friendship. Rainbow Dash found her manecut to be kind of cute, the way it was cut above her eyes gave her that schoolpony look.
"Oh, hi, Rainbow Dash!" she greeted. The room was dark, the window curtains drawn shut regardless of the night. The only light was provided by the candle that were lit around Twilight's desk so she could at least read her book and see what she was writing. "What brings you here?"
Rainbow hesitated. "Well...you see, I..." she couldn't bring herself self to say 'I need advice.'
Twilight sighed, but in a good way, then said, "I can tell you need help with something, Dash."
Rainbow's ears ears perked up at that statement, but she still scowled at her friend for thinking that Rainbow Dash, of all ponies, would need help. But in this case, Twilight was right.
"So, what do you need?"
Rainbow Dash thought for a moment, wondering if it was too late to run. No, it was too late for that now. She found the courage to speak up. "Well," she started, "There's this pony I really like, and just earlier they told me their feelings, and I kissed them. Now I'm not sure if we're dating or if the kiss even meant anything!"
"Dash?"
"And I've never felt this way for anypony before! I don't even know how to hold a relationship!"
"Dash."
"I mean, the last thing I want is to ruin our friendship. What'll happen if--"
"DASH!" Twilight screamed at the pegasus. Geez, that pony could give Pinkie Pie a run for her money when it came to nervous rambling.
Rainbow went silent.
"Okay," Twilight said with a sigh. "Who is this pony?"
"Oh," Rainbow was caught off guard by the question. "Um, n-nopony you know," she lied, looking away so that Twilight couldn't see her blushing.
Twilight smirked. "It's Applejack, isn't it?"
Rainbow's face turned a dark shade of crimson. Her eyes must have been as big as plates. "What!" she yelled at her friend. "I'm no fillyfooler! I would never--"
"That's all I needed to know," Twilight interrupted smugly.
Realizing that her reaction gave it away, she stomped her hoof on the floor.
"Don't worry, Rainbow Dash. You're secret is safe with me," Twilight told her reassuringly.
A wave of relief came over Rainbow Dash. "Really?"
Twilight nodded. "Absolutely. That's what friends do." She smiled.
"Thanks, Twi." Dash wanted to talk about this more, but there were too many things going through her mind for her to think straight. She was too tired anyway.
A moment of silence. Twilight decided to continue studying.
"You work that guy too hard," Rainbow Dash said, breaking the silence.
Twilight looked up from the book. "Who?"
"Spike," Rainbow said with a yawn. Thinking about how tired Spike looked made her very weary herself.
"Why don't you stay here tonight?" Twilight offered. A bed definitely sounded nice to Rainbow Dash right now. But she didn't worry about a bed. She collapsed right there on the spot. She was asleep before she hit the floor. Talking about Spike would have to wait until tomorrow.

A/N: Well, I told you it would be longer, so there ya go. :3 I don't break Pinkie Pie promises. Then again, if I did, that would defeat the whole purpose, now wouldn't it? Oh, yeah, I need ideas for the next fic (Sequel to this one) so please post ideas on my blog!

Disclaimer: I don't own My Little Pony. Somepony else does.
Lucky bastard.
