Chapter 27: Chase and Ransom

Before Grogar could do anything, Scorpan quickly lifted his claw and the five allies disappeared in a flash of golden light.

But Grogar did nothing. He didn't frown, his face instead shifting to a monotone expression.

Instead, he turned and exited the building. King Sombra and the Storm King were waiting outside.

"I take it they escaped before you did much?" Sombra asked.

"Yes," replied Grogar.

"Then why are you so calm?" The Storm King inquired.

Grogar lit up his horns and disappeared in a yellow flash.

"So... don't tell us?" Sombra muttered.

And in a flash, Grogar reappeared holding his crystal ball.

"Oh right," Sombra groaned. “I forgot about that.”

Grogar examined the crystal ball until a large hallway appeared in the ball. And in that hallway stood the five foes that Grogar and his allies are up against. A metamorphosed changeling and a gargoyle were standing next to each other and facing an unreformed changeling, a centaur, and a filly.

"So..." the Storm King began to say. "Should we attack or-"

"No," Grogar cut off.

"Huh?" King Sombra and the Storm King both said, shocked and confused at the response from their leader.

"We wait," Grogar explained. "They may know us well, but every hero makes a slip-up or thinks they are safe. Just wait. Let them devise a plan or learn a little bit more about mine. Then we strike..."

*Canterlot Castle Hallway...*

"He found us," Tirek muttered. "He found us and he knows we're here!"

"Sure it lowers our chance of success," Cozy said. "And... oh what the hay, I can't be optimistic!"

"Oh please," said Scorpan. "It had to happen at some point. He can't just find your missing statue and brush it off."

"I suppose that's true..." Chrysalis stated. "It's not like he's all..."

Chrysalis stopped herself.

"Chrysalis?" Tirek lifted a brow. "You were saying?"

"I... was thinking I would transform into Grogar," Chrysalis explained. "But... I couldn't."

"Wait..." Tirek scratched his chin and looked to Cozy. "Can you fly?"

Cozy Glow arched up her back and moved her wings. Nothing happened.

"That blasted Grogar!" Tirek exclaimed. "He took our magic!"

"Well that's just great..." Cozy huffed.

"Listen," Scorpan said. "Are we really going to lose hope because we don't have out magic?"

Everycreature looked at him.

"Maybe?" Cozy shrugged.

"Listen," Scorpan resumed. "You may not have your magic. But you still have friendship. And those who harness it have a greater chance of success."

Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy looked at each other. Then back at Scorpan.

"*sigh*... Your right," Chrysalis said. She chuckled. "We are still getting used to the 'reformed' side of things..."

"I agree with you too, brother," Tirek agreed.

"Me too," Cozy chimed in.

Scorpan smiled. "That's the spirit."

POOF!!!

A sound coming from behind Thorax and Scorpan prompted them to turn around.

But they were only halfway through turning around when two yellow beams struck them both.

Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy gasped when they saw what had just happened.

Ahead of the five allies stood Grogar, grinning.

Scorpan and Thorax looked back at Chrysalis, Cozy, and Tirek with fear as their bodies became covered in grey stone.

And then the three former villains turned and bolted down the hallway.

Grogar shot a magic beam at them, the beam whizzing past Thorax and Scorpan, fully stone, in the positions where they were looking back at the former villains they just saved.

The beam nearly hit Cozy.

She ducked as it whizzed past her, nearly grazing her mane.

"You ok?" Chrysalis asked.

"Yeah. Yeah I'm ok," Cozy replied quickly.

They didn't look back at Grogar, who now had Sombra standing on his right and the Storm King on his left. Grogar levitated the statues of Scorpan and Thorax before he placed them behind him and his allies.

"Get them!" ordered Grogar.

"What about you?" Sombra questioned, looking at Grogar and lifting a brow.

"I'm going to make our new human guests feel welcome..." the ram sneered.

King Sombra rolled his eyes.

"Fine!" he gruffed, before he took off after his foes.

The Storm King took off after him.

Grogar just stood there, smiling and showing off his sinister yellow teeth.

*Canterlot Castle entrance...*

Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow ran out of the (thankfully open) entrance to the Canterlot Castle as fast as their legs could carry.

"Whatdowedowhatdowedowhatdowedo..." Cozy mumbled, her tiny legs surprisingly letting her keep up with Tirek and Chrysalis.

"At this point, I'm not sure what to do anymore aside from running..." Tirek wheezed.

"We have no more options of where to hide either..." lamented Chrysalis. "Grogar found us. Twice. Obviously, he will do it again!"

They continued to run, getting exhausted once they ended up running through a dirt-covered road.
Neither of the former villains noticed the sinister black smoke speeding toward them, nor did they notice the Storm King.

It didn't take long for Chrysalis to freeze in midair, her body covered in a blue aura.

"CHRYSALIS!" Tirek shrieked. Immediately he and Cozy stopped running and turned around.

Chrysalis lifted up into the air, a black cloud of smoke and the Storm King both standing right behind her. The black cloud immediately shrank and dissipated, King Sombra standing in its place.

They noticed a blue glow on the Storm Kings claw.

"I thank Grogar for giving us some of the magic from his bell," the Storm King said with pride. "Now I don't need some dumb staff to perform magic."

"Something you don't have!" Sombra gloated. "So you can run. But at the cost of you never seeing this pathetic changeling again! But if you surrender, the chances of you three being destroyed together instead of alone will be higher."

"I bet they will run! Look at us! We are powerful magic beings! Even if they run, we will just catch them! This world is doomed! And only the three of you are left to help."

"It's a shame you nearly reformed on Everhoof... otherwise Grogar would have freed you three from stone before you reformed for real! Plus, you three DID manage to nearly end Equestria with the Bewitching Bell."

"And look at where you are now..." the Storm King chuckled, bringing Chrysalis close to him. "... at the weakest point you have ever been at."

Tirek and Cozy watched Chrysalis' eyelids shift to sadness and fear.

"If you don't make a decision, I would be happy to make you relive your past..." Sombra sneered, his eyes turning green and emitting a purple aura.

Tirek suddenly shifted his gaze to a stand on the side of the street. Then he looked down.

Tirek took a deep breath and lifted his skinny arms. His raspy voice spoke only two words.

"We surrender."
