Best Friends Reunion

by Twilight Star

Repentance [Edited]

It was a relatively calm summer morning in Canterlot. Today was Hearts and Hooves Day. Spring and Glitter were together at their house. Since Spring and Glitter became grown mares and graduated from Princess Celestia’s school, they decided that they would live together in a house in Canterlot. They always did things together: They cook food together, have fun together and do housework together. Spring and Glitter had already had lunch and were sitting together on the sofa, reading a book of Daring Do.

Although they were reading together, Spring was unable to concentrate. She looked at Glitter Drops. “Glitter Drops.”

Glitter Drops stopped reading and looked at Spring Rain. “Yes?”

“I’m not able to concentrate,” replied Spring .

“Why? Does something bother you?” asked Glitter Drops as she was worried with her best friend.

Spring Rain scratched her knee as she looked sadly to the left. “Yes. Something has been bothering me lately...”

 “What bothers you?”

Spring Rain didn’t know how she was going to speak, since what bothered her was something that happened when she and her friend were just fillies. “Do you remember Fizzlepop Berrytwist?”

 “Yes. I remember,” replied Glitter.

“Do you remember that we were both her best friends?” asked Spring Rain as she looked now at Glitter Drops.

 “Yes.”

“Do you remember when we and Fizzlepop played with a ball until the ball ended up in a cave?”

“Yes. Fizzlepop went inside the Ursa Minor cave to catch the ball, but it resulted in her losing her horn.”

Spring Rain was sad, her ears were lowering. “You know what we did next, don’t you?”

“Yes. We started not to be around Fizzlepop and when we went to Princess Celestia’s school, we abandoned her,” replied Glitter Drops as she was confused now. “Spring, I don’t understand. Why are you remembering this?”

Spring Rain could feel tears in her eyes. “I- I... I think we weren’t good friends for Fizzlepop...”

“But why do you think that?” asked Glitter Drops.

“We stopped playing with her after she lost her horn, and on top of that... we abandoned her when we were invited to Princess Celestia’s gifted Unicorn School!” shouted Spring Rain through her tears as she lay on the couch. “How we could be so selfish?”

Glitter Drops was speechless with what Spring Rain said. Did she hear right? Was Spring Rain sorry they stopped playing with Fizzlepop and abandoned her?  She slightly lifted a hoof as she spoke. “Are you sorry we did this to our best friend?”

Spring Rain looked at Glitter Drops. “Yes. Aren’t you sorry too?”

Glitter Drops was sad just to remember the past. She and Spring Rain shouldn’t have abandoned their best friend. “I am also sorry that we did that. But how would we play with Fizzlepop if her horn was broken?”

“Maybe we should have thought of a game that she could play without using her horn,” Spring Rain’s hooves covered her mouth, her voice was muffled. “But no. We abandoned her! She must hate us since that day!”

Glitter Drops felt her heart break when she saw her best friend crying. “Please, don’t cry.”

Spring Rain looked at Glitter Drops as she wiped the tears away with a hoof. “Glitter, what are we going to do?”

Glitter Drops put the hoof on her chin in thought. How could the two of them solve what they did when they were fillies? Until, she had an idea and smiled. “I know how we can fix this.”

“What’s your idea?” asked Spring Rain.

“We could try to find Fizzlepop to apologize to her,” replied Glitter.

“But how are we going to know where she is? Could she be anywhere in Equestria?”

“Simple. You remember that of Storm Kimg’s invasion of Equestria?”

Spring Rain’s sad expression didn’t waver. “Yes. And our best friend had joined him…”

“Yes. But six mares managed to defeat Storm King,” said Glitter Drops.

“Do you know the name of the six mares?” asked Spring Rain.

“Unfortunately not. But I found out that the six mare are from Ponyville.”

Spring Rain was curious. “How do you know that the six mares are from Ponyville?”

“When the Song Bird Serenade performance was over, I found out that Fizzlepop went to Ponyville with the six mares,” replied Glitter.

“Did you spy on them?” asked Spring Rain, now surprised.

“No. But I heard them say they were going back to Ponyville.”

Spring Rain calmed down. “Well, it makes sense. So, are we going to Ponyville?”

Glitter Drops smiled excitedly. “Yes! Let’s go.”

Twilight and Fizzlepop were taking a walk in Ponyville. In fact, it wasn’t a simple walk. They were having a date during the Hearts and Hooves Day. They intended to go to the restaurant to have lunch together. They had smiles on their faces.

“I’m so excited to spend this Hearts and Hooves with you, Fizzie,” Twilight said in an excited tone as she looked at her marefriend.

“I am, too, Twi,” Fizzlepop said as she smiled.

“After lunch, what if we went to the park?”

“It’s not a bad idea, Twi.”

Twilight and Fizzlepop went to a table and sat in the hay. They both got a menu for them to choose what to eat. While they were doing this, a waiter came to them. “Have you chosen, madam?”

Twilight Sparkle took his eyes off the menu. “Yes. I would like a sandwich with daisies.”

The waiter looked at Fizzlepop Berrytwist now. “And you, madam? Have you chosen?”

Fizzlepop Berrytwist looked at the waiter. “Yes. I would like the same as Twilight.”

The waiter entered the restaurant. Fizzlepop Berrytwist looked at her marefriend with a smile. “Twi, thanks for being by my side after everything I did to Equestria.”

“You’re welcome, Fizzie.” Twilight Sparkle smiled sweetly.

The waiter went back to where the two mares were and handed over the two sandwiches. Fizzlepop picked up the sandwich with the front hooves. What she didn’t realize was that Twilight was watching her to see if she needed help. When she saw that Fizzlepop managed to get the sandwich with the hooves, she started eating her sandwich too.

After they finished eating, Twilight and Fizzlepop left the restaurant happily. They couldn’t wait to get to the park to spend time together.

In the background, two mares and unicorns were walking, one was light blue and the other green, they were looking for something. When they saw Fizzlepop, they ran towards her. Twilight and Fizzlepop heard footsteps and looked where they saw the sound. Twilight and her marefriend saw two unicorn mares walking up to them. Twilight didn’t recognize those mares, unlike Fizzlepop, which she recognized at first.

 Spring Rain! Glitter Drops!

When Spring Rain and Glitter Drops came very close, they said in unison, “Fizzlepop!” they hugged their best friend.

As much as Fizzlepop is happy to see her foalhood best friends, she was more confused. “Spring Rain? Glitter Drops? What are you two doing in Ponyville?”

Spring Rain and Glitter Drops came out of the embrace, but their smiles fell. “We... we came here to apologize...”

“But apologize for what?” asked Fizzlepop Berrytwist.

“It’s about something we’ve done in the past with you,” began Glitter Drops. “You remember when we left you to go to Princess Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorn, don’t you?”

Fizzlepop Berrytwist was sad just to remember that day, her ears went down as she looked to the right. “Yes. To this day, I feel sorry for joining Storm King. But after spending a lot of time with my marefriend, I can feel a little happier and less guilty about my past.”

Spring Rain and Glitter Drops were surprised. “Marefriend? Who is your marefriend?”

“Twi, Glitter Drops.” Fizzlepop Berrytwist embraced Twilight Sparkle with an as she smiled. Her marefriend smiled with affection.

 Glitter Drops was confused. “Twi?”

“Twi is just a nickname I gave her, Glitter,” replied Fizzlepop. “My marefriend’s name is Twilight Sparkle.”

“Is the mare with you Twilight Sparkle?” asked Glitter Drops to make sure as she lifted a front hoof slightly.

“Yes, Glitter Drops. We both just had lunch at a Ponyville restaurant. Now, we will go for a walk in the park.” Fizzlepop released Twilight. Twilight seemed a little sad about that.

The hoof of Glitter Drops lowered. “Can we go along?”

Fizzlepop seemed to hesitate for a moment, as the two mares in front of her were her best friends from foalhood until them abandon her. She even told Twilight about it. Fizzlepop looked at the two unicorn mares in front of her. They waited for an answer. Fizzlepop decided. She would let her best friends go along, as she could take the opportunity to ask for forgiveness for having a grudge. “Yes. You two can.”

Spring Rain and Glitter Drops smiled in relief at the response they received. For a moment, they thought that Fizzlepop wouldn’t leave it up to her to have a possible grudge against them.

Upon entering the park, they realized that there were some ponies in the park, but not many. Some were sitting under a tree, others on benches and others were standing.

“Where are we going to sit?” Spring Rain looked at Fizzlepop Berrytwist.

Fizzlepop looked around, saw a bench a little way away, and pointed at it with a hoof. “Let’s sit on that bench.”

They approached the bench and sat down. Fizzlepop sat in the middle, Twilight sat on the left side of her marefriend, Spring and Glitter sat on the right side of Fizzlepop.

Fizzlepop looked at Twilight and started talking to her. Spring and Glitter looked at each other. Now would be a good time for them to apologize to Fizzlepop. They just hoped that everything would work out.

 “Fizzlepop.” Spring Rain started.

Fizzlepop Berrytwist stopped talking to Twilight Sparkle and looked at Spring Rain. “Yes?”

Spring Rain started scratching his knee with a hoof. “Er... me and Glitter Drops have something to talk to you...”

Fizzlepop was curious. What would it be?

“Fizzlepop, do you remember when the three of us were playing with a ball in the Everfree Forest, but it stopped at Ursa Minor’s cave?” asked Spring Rain.

Although Fizzlepop Berrytwist was sad to remember this, she sighed as she looked away and her ears were lowered. “Yes. Why?”

“Fizzlepop, we’re sorry that we stopped playing with you,” replied the light blue unicorn, “and abandoned you to go to Princess Celestia’s school for Gifted Unicorn.”

Fizzlepop’s sad expression changed to surprise. She certainly didn’t expect their friends to come to her to apologize. She looked at Spring Rain.

“We haven’t been good friends in the past with you. We were selfish.”

Fizzlepop was confused. “What do you mean selfish?”

Now it was Glitter Drops who spoke. “As we always played ball, you were the one who held the ball with your magic, but with the loss of your horn, we realized that it would be difficult to play ball without you. So, we decided to get away from you since without a horn, there was no way you could play ball with us. And when we were invited to Princess Celestia’s school, Spring Rain and I decided to go because since we were away from you we decided to go.”

Glitter Drops realized that Fizzlepop was crying. Twilight was comforting her. Glitter Drops was heartbroken to see her best friend cry. “But today, Spring Rain remembered what we did to you in the past. She told me she was sorry that we did this, I also started to show regret.”

Fizzlepop looked at Glitter Drops and Spring Rain, still with tears in her eyes, her cheeks were wet. “Fizzlepop, we both came here to apologize to you. Could you forgive us?”

Fizzlepop stopped crying, but there were still tears in her eyes. She didn’t know whether to forgive Spring and Glitter. Even though she was reformed, she still held a bit of a grudge towards her best friends for having abandoned her. But Twilight talked to her, and said that she shouldn’t hold a grudge, because as much as she felt hurt, she shouldn’t feel that since if she forgave her friends, her friendship with the other two unicorns would strengthen even more than before. She looked at her friends. Spring was looking to the left, and Glitter was looking down guiltily. She could tell that they were really sorry. She didn’t need to analyze it to know that.

She looked at Twilight for an answer. The look she gave seemed to say, “should I forgive them?”

Twilight, in response, just smiled as she closed her eyes and nodded.

Fizzlepop smiled. During her early days at Ponyville Castle, Twilight has proven to be a very good mare for her, even though she has been a villain before. Twilight managed to achieve something that no pony could achieve after what she suffered in the past: Her confidence.

Since Fizzlepop was abandoned by her two best friends, she felt betrayed and didn’t want to know about friends, she started to fend for herself and go on with her life on her own, even though she lost her horn.

But Twilight showed to be somepony very good and understanding with her. Twilight had forgiven her for trying to dominate Equestria. At first, they were just friends, but soon, love feelings started to emerge, and then she declared that she loved Twilight more than as a friend. To her surprise, Twilight felt the same way, so they became really marefriends. If Twilight forgave her, then why not forgive her best friends? Like, they were and regretted leaving it. “Spring, Glitter.”

Glitter Drops and Spring Rain looked at Fizzlepop Berrytwist as they were tense. “... I forgive you both.”

Glitter and Spring smiled. “Really? Do you forgive us?”

“Of course, Glitter Drops. I can see that you two are sorry.” smiled Fizzlepop Berrytwist.

Tears started to come out of Spring and Glitter’s eyes as they smiled and went over to Fizzlepop for a hug. “Thank you, Fizzlepop.”

 “You’re welcome.”

Fizzlepop realized that everything was calm, she decided to take advantage of it. “Friends, I need to confess something.”

The friends looked at Fizzlepop Berrytwist. “When you two abandoned me, I felt a negative feeling.”

Spring and Glitter just listened. “I felt a grudge against you two, i would even be felt if you two hadn’t come to apologize to me.”

Glitter Drops and Spring Rain were overdue. “Did you feel a grudge against us?”

“Yes. But please, don’t leave me again just because I felt it,” asked Fizzlepop sadly, but it sounded more like begging.

Even though they were surprised, they soon smiled. “We aren’t leaving you again, Fizzlepop.”

  “Really?”

“Yes, Fizzlepop,” said Glitter Drops. Fizzlepop smiled at the response she received.

“I don’t like to interrupt this moment of reunion and friends, but it’s already night,” Twilight said as she pointed to the full moon.

They looked at the sky and saw the full moon already in the night sky. They came out of the embrace. Fizzlepop Berrytwist looked at Twilight Sparkle. “How fast it got dark.”

“Yes, Fizzlepop,” agreed Twilight as she got up from the bench.

Fizzlepop, Spring and Glitter did the same as Twilight. But when they left, they hugged goodbye while smiling. Twilight just watched with a smile. She was happy that Fizzlepop forgave her best friends.

When Fizzlepop left the hug, her friends left with smiles. When she saw that they were far away, she motioned for them to walk back to the castle. Twilight started to walk.

“So Fizzie, how do you feel after you have forgiven your best friends?” asked Twilight Sparkle.

Fizzlepop Berrytwist looked at Twilight Sparkle with a smile. “I feel lighter.”

Twilight Sparkle smiled. “How nice. And I know that your friendship with them will only become stronger starting today.”

“I think so, too, Twi. I think so,” said Fizzlepop as she smiled for Twilight. Although they didn’t enjoy the Hearth and Hooves so much, she had a chance to see their best friends again. She wondered what the future held for her.
