They even formed a long-standing friendship with the changelings, whose ruler had been overthrown by Ocellus, the new changeling queen. They would be ruling the nation, along with their pet cockatrice, for generations to come. The powerful magic they’d each absorbed kept them from growing old, so they were ruling the nation for centuries before their retirement.
