//------------------------------// // Night 2: The Nerd and the Supercar (and more screens) // Story: 6 Universal Nights // by The Blue EM2 //------------------------------// Katrina, in the meantime, was completely unaware of various shenanigans going on in the other parts of the park, as she made her way through said park towards her next target. The next ride she was heading for was admittedly from a franchise she had no familiarity with and she had no idea how it remained so popular, but then again, audiences have severe difficulties with discression sometimes, which is how some truly great stuff goes unnoticed and absolute rubbish ends up as box office successes. Enough of this rant, the temperatures were beginning to increase noticably in Florida, and as such Katrina had to remove her glasses again to wipe the steam off them as the spectacles were constantly misting up. "An anti-misting device would help these greatly," she sighed, taking another glance all about as the crowds continued to mill about. It was close to lunchtime, and people seemed to be heading in the direction of the New York section of the park as it seemed that the Blues Brothers had started up again, if the sound of old Rhythm and Blues tracks was anything to go by. What was that one called? It temporarily escaped her mind as she walked on, not realising she had failed to replace her eyewear and promptly crashed into a lamp post. "Ouch!" Katrina pulled back, replaced her glasses, and went onwards with her day. The sky was still relatively bright, and the temperatures made it hard to believe that it was still winter. Then again, that was why Henry Flagler had developed a relative backwater into a playground for the wealthy when New York was utterly freezing. Boy had Key West been one of the weirdest places she had ever been. As she made her way onwards, the band were louder, and more people were heading their way. That wasn't the only thing that was suddenly noisier, if the sound of car engines nearby was anything to go by. Katrina had at last reached her destination. The Fast and the Furious: Supercharged. Installed in 2018 to replace the much loved Disaster! A Major Motion Picture Ride... Starring You! Which itself was a replacement to the much older Earthquake, which simulated an earthquake and motion picture effects for the comfort of the riders. That ride had been plagued with technical problems its entire life, something its successor did not have. But they had closed it, and replaced it with even more screens. Katrina, noticing her Express slot had just opened, set off into the queue line. Moments later, she felt an odd tug on her hair. "Who pulled my hair?!" she snapped, half expecting to see an irritating kid behind her. But nobody was there. Nobody at all. Swinging back around quite suddenly, her hair suddenly flew into her eyes. A long ponytail was splayed over her shoulders, and as she looked on it changed colour, to the shades of dark blue, light pink, and purple, with the light pink shade being the wider of the two others. "Here we go again," Katrina sighed. This 'curse' was now more annoying than terrifying, a factor reinforced by a fringe of the aforementioned colours flopping into her eyes. The arrangement of colours was different; the blue was a lot more prominent, although the pink element was still quite noticable. Her eyes shifted to a purple tone, but her glasses (for once) changed not. Her shirt, already short sleeved, suddenly gained slightly more puffed up sleeves, and the front was replaced with a buttoned up V neck, with a pink bow tie set in front of that running under the collar. The shirt, for those wondering, was a light blue with white trim. A pink waistcoat appeared on top of that, with alternating pink and white bands at the bottom, and a purple belt around the waist. Her pants merged together to create a skirt, and then the zip and button, the leftover of the original garment, vanished, the gap filling in with fabric and elastic helping to fill in the missing space. This was soon followed by the skirt shrinking up her legs and stopping partway up her thighs. The skirt turned purple and suddenly poofed outward, a symbol of a pink star appearing on it, with a lighter coloured star underneath and and several white stars appearing underneath. Her socks turned the same blue as her shirt, and grew up her legs, stopping just below her knees. Her shoes morphed into a pair of dark purple flats with white lines running along them, with pink stars on the foot straps. Katrina sighed, or rather Twilight Sparkle did. "Great," she said, moving onwards into the queue. "Back where I began." "See!" a man said. "This is evidence that Universal has the license to MLP characters! I saw Thorax earlier in the park, and there's Equestria Girls Twilight Sparkle." "Sci-Twi, actually," said his compatriot, a man with an absolutely colossal beard. "Who are we going to see next? Santa Claus?" "He's in North Carolina, last I looked," the first answered. Twilight sighed. "Something weird is going on here, and I wanna find out what it is. But before that, let's figure out how this ride works." True to her fears, Twilight rode The Fast and the Furious: Supercharged, and had absolutely no idea what was going on. The entire story seemed to be contrived to give an excuse for a bunch of people to drive supercharged cars at very high speeds down tightly packed lanes. She exited, very confused. "Why does every theme park rely on screens nowadays?" she asked, and headed for the plaza. It was then she saw what was causing all the commotion. Standing there were the Young Six, with various instruments, and in front of all of them was a giant green bug, who was chewing out a girl with blue skin and pink hair. "You can't just keep running off like that!" the bug said. "We've been worried sick about you!" The girl simply looked baffled, and a little shaken. "I think you've got the wrong Ocellus," she replied. "Ocellus?" Twilight thought. "She hasn't even appeared in Equestria Girls." She went over to the bug to address it. "I believe you were looking for Changeling Ocellus, not this one. This is her human counterpart, Thorax. That is to say, I am addressing you as Thorax, not that her name is Thorax." Thorax looked at her. "Twilight?" he asked. "What are you doing here?" "Not the same Twilight," Twilight replied. "The Princess is in another castle, I'm afraid." Thorax sighed. "Come on, Pharynx!" he called. "We're in the wrong place." And he flew off as if nothing had happened. Ocellus glanced over to Twilight. "Thanks for saving my bacon." "No problem," Twilight smiled. "Now who wants to do a meet and greet?" The roar from the crowd was all she needed to hear.
