//------------------------------// // Beach Girl // Story: Beach Girl // by Lonely Fanboy48 //------------------------------// Principal Celestia parks her car by the beach where all the kids, teens, and adults are enjoying themselves. After two weeks since Canterlot High’s graduation ceremony along with the final days, she’s a bit dejected that she has to wait until September. However it will give her more time to do other activities she wasn’t able to do during her years as a principal, and one of them involves enjoying a day at the beach. After she got out of her car, she went to the trunk to take an umbrella and her cyan beach towel. Her swimsuit is nothing but a rainbow cyan bra and bottom, showing most of her body so she can feel the warmth from the sun. She barely said a word once she placed her feet on the sand, she made her way to a spot where she could relax. She placed her beach towel on the sand, she placed her umbrella by it, then she finally laid down on her towel. With the sun in the sky with no clouds obscuring it, Celestia is having the best time, as she puts her shades on. Meanwhile on the left side of the beach, one of Canterlot High’s students are getting ready to play volleyball as they set up the net. One of the students notices that their principal is at the beach, laying on her towel. “Hey, isn’t that our principal from school?” Wiz Kid pointed. This caused the other students to stop and turned their attention to their principal. “Yeah.” Cherry Crash replied. “I thought she’s doing summer school.” “Actually, Vice Principal is taking care of that for this year.” Brawly Beats added. “But still, I’ve never seen her on the beach before.” Then the final student who just finished setting up the net, took a look at her principal. Her best friends aren’t with her on the beach, since they decided to do other activities rather than go swimming, but that didn’t stop her. “Well.” Sunset placed her hand on her hip. “This is interesting.” She walked up to her principal, blocking the sunlight which caused Celestria to take off her shades. She saw four of her students from Canterlot High right in front of her. She isn’t fazed to see teens on the beach from time to time, but is happy to meet her students once again. “Um...you're just relaxing?” Wiz Kid asked. “Yes.” Celestia smiled. “You haven’t seen a principal enjoying herself on the beach?” “As a matter of fact, not much.” Cherry added. “Especially right after high school is over.” Brawly added. Celestia giggled from what she’s hearing from the teenagers. As for Sunset, she had an idea for what she could do for her friends. “Celestia, I know you want to lay under the sun but we’re going to play volleyball soon. Are you interested in joining?” Celestia never received an offer from teens who’ll about to do activities on the beach. “You...really want me to join?” “That would be awesome if you do.” Brawly crossed his arms with style. “After we’re done playing volleyball, we can go swimming next.” Cherry added. “And we have so many things we can do on the beach.” Sunset smirked. With so many activities going on, it will take up the entire day to get through them all. As for the principal, she’s never had an energizing time on the beach in a long time. She got on her feet while also putting her shades back on. “Then let’s play some volleyball.” Celestia said in style. They head back to the volleyball court, with Wiz as the ref of the game. With the principal now joining in, he has no problem staying on the sidelines. “Principal, you and Cherry will start first.” He handed the ball to them. Celestia holds the volleyball in her hands while squatting down. With all four people on offense, the principal lifted the ball and punts it over the net. Cherry takes her chance as she prevents the ball from touching the ground. Brawly jumped in the air, spiking the ball hard which caused the ball to fly over Sunset. Sunset tried to stop it but she was too late as the ball landed on her side of the net. Wiz draws a point for Celestia and Brawly on a piece of paper so he can keep track of the score. “We got a point!” Brawly cheered. “Impressive.” Celestia smiled. “If I was a gym teacher instead of principal, I would have seen all the fun.” “All the fun huh?” Sunset picking up the ball. “Then you have seen nothing yet.” With all girls on offense again, Sunset lifted the ball and punted over the net. Once the ball went over the net, Celestia jumped and spiked it. Due to the impact from her hit, it bounced on Cherry’s chest, causing her to collapse onto the sand. “Holy!” Sunset reacted in shock. “Did you just...hit Cherry from your spike?” Brawly turned to her teammate. Celestia couldn’t believe what she just did. Seeing Cherry on the sand when she hit the ball towards her, stunned her. “All you alright?” She called. “Yes I’m alright.” Cherry getting back on her feet with the ball in her hands. “I didn’t think you would hit the ball so hard.” “Yeah, what made you so prepared to hit the ball so hard? We just started.” Sunset asked. “I don’t know, there was like a fire inside of me that just flared up.” Celestia replied. “A fire?” “Like when you're no longer burnt out?” Wiz added. “Yeah.” The four teenangers had no words to describe Celestia herself. They did see her in a happy mood in the past, but this wasn’t like anything they saw from her. “Well as much as we want to talk about burning out, we still have a game to play.” Sunset placing her hand on her hip. “You’re right.” Cherry responded. “If you think you’re getting lucky because you have two points on us, think again. The game has just started.” “Then bring it on!” Brawly taunted. After ten minutes of playing volleyball, it all came to an end. “Celestia and Brawly, you just beat Sunset and Cherry!” Wiz Kid showing his paper to his friends. The score Celestia and Brawly had eight points while Sunset and Cherry only had four points. Sunset’s jaw dropped in disbelief. During her times playing volleyball, she’s always on the winning side thanks to her skills. The fact she lost to her principal made it awkward, then humiliating. “We won!” Celestia cheered as she gave Brawly a hug, much to his surprise. “Sunset, are you alright?” Cherry walking up to Sunset. “Yeah, but mostly stunned that we lost.” Sunset responded. “Has Celestia ever been good in volleyball?” “Probably I assume.” As they look at Celestia who’s still giving Brawly a hug, Sunset has another idea for what they can do next. She wanted to see something that the principal is keeping to herself. “Hey Celestia.” Sunset called while she and Cherry walked under the net. “Before we get some ice cream, do you wanna go swimming?” Upon hearing that, Celestia let go of Brawly from the hug. “Swimming? I haven’t swam in a long time.” “Did you love it when you were a kid?” Wiz Kid asked. “Yes, but I don’t think I will feel the same way in the present.” Sunset knows where this is going when she sees adults feeling this way, not to mention the amount of places they can go on the beach. She took off her sarong as she turned to the ocean where most of the people on the beach are spending their time. She takes a head start and rushes to the water. “I think it won’t hurt if you give it another chance?” She turned around. “Everyone knows that swimming at the beach is the best activity!” “And we couldn’t agree more!” Cherry added as she joins Sunset and so does Wiz. “Come on, the ocean is calm.” Brawly replied. Celestia looked at the ocean herself. She saw a mother and her husband playing with their child. They love swimming to the point they always come back during the season of summer so they can swim with their son. The principal did feel she’s been burnt out during her years away from the beach. When she turns her attention back to her students, they’re waiting to see her in the ocean since they love swimming too. This was the main activity they planned to do when they arrived at the beach. “Sunset must be on to something.” She thought. “But I like it.” She took her steps towards the ocean while her friends smiled. “Knew she was going to do that.” Cherry said. Celestia can feel the water on her feet and legs. By the time she heads to her students, the water is rising past her belly, a feeling she never had during her days swimming. “The water is so warm.” She reacted. “Well, today is only the beginning of summer.” Sunset replied. “Just wait until we reach the later months. The water will get much warmer.” Brawly added. Everyone began swimming as Sunset dived her head under the surface. The principal remembered she always held her breath when she swam. She wanted to see what underwater looks like every time she’s on the beach. She grew a smile on her face as she dove into the water. She saw that Sunset’s legs had been off the ground as she began to swim on her own accord. “Just like old times.” Celestia thought. With the water all around her, her childhood memories had returned even better than ever. She swam towards her students, much to their surprise, they still like how their principal is enjoying herself. They head back to the surface to regain oxygen. They all popped out of the water with Celestia being the final person. She moved her wet hair right behind her back now that her entire body is wet, she felt like a young kid again, long before all of her students were born. “That was great!” Brawly shouted. “And we didn’t expect you to dive in like that.” Wiz said,  looking at his principal. “Not to mention the way you got out of the water.” Cherry added, “Well I don’t know what I had in me, I guess.” Celestia blushed. Sunset only admired her principal's burning fire she had inside herself. After getting beaten from a game of volleyball, she can see how she’s feeling at the moment. After spending ten minutes in the ocean, Celestia heads to her spot to pack up. Even with the amount of activities, she felt exhausted after years of ageing. As she takes her things to her car, Sunset and the others follow from behind. “Are you seriously going to leave?” Cherry asked from behind. “Yes.” Celestia replied as she opened her trunk of the car. “Sorry but when you get older, you won’t be able to enjoy the activities that much.” “Yeah, that is a fair point.” Brawly added. Before Celestia could enter her vehicle after putting her things away in her truck, Sunset blocked her way. “Before you leave, I have one question.” As her principal took the time to listen, Sunset asked her question. “Have you ever liked being on the beach?” Celestia laughed from Sunset’s question. “As a matter of fact, yes, but its not what you think.” “What do you mean by that?” Wiz added. “Well, I do like doing the other activities when I was a little girl, but like I said, you get burned out when you get older.” She then looked at the ocean one more time. “I used to call myself the Beach Girl, doing everything on the beach as possible with the passion I had. But that was during my prime.” The students stayed silent from listening to their principal. After they encountered her laying on her spot on the beach, they know full well that not all grown ups will stay in their prime, especially with the hobbies they liked to do the most. “As far as I’m concerned, I did enjoy hanging out with all of you, but don’t expect me to do it again. But I will say it was refreshing to relive it again.” “Hey you know that they say, a blast from the past right?” Sunset giggled. “Yeah, but not completely.” Celestia opened her door as she entered inside her car. “See all of you in September.” “Same to you too.” Cherry replied. Principal Celestia closed her door and inserted her keys into her cars ignition. She drove out of the parking lot as she headed home for the reminder of the day. Sunset and her friends had a good time hanging out with their principal. Playing a game of volleyball while swimming in the ocean was good enough for them. “Do you think our Vice Principal would feel that same way?” Wiz asked. “Probably, but it would have been nice to have her come back in her prime, just like our principal did.” Sunset smiled.
