Dungeons and Ponies

Adventure Begins (Pt. 1)

Here it starts. In the land of Engestra, there is a small town known as, Hoofsmeade (Haha, get it? Ahem-) Two creatures, a turtle and a wizard pony, sit near each other in a nice inn. They order drinks, same kind. This intrigues the wizard, the turtle ordering the same drink. What do you do?

"Hold up," Pinkie Pie interrupted. "Why are we ordering drinks? I mean, I'm fine with ordering drinks, but like what are we ordering? Hot chocolate, milk, water, what?"

Twilight groaned slightly. "You're ordering a cocktail of some sorts."

"What?" Fluttershy spoke. "But I don't drink."

"Ugh! Fluttershy, just let Egghead go forth with the story. You never specified if Lloyd drank," Rainbow dash said, putting her hoof on the map table and motioning her other into the air.

"Well, actually, Pinkie gets to make the next move," said Twilight. She turned to the pink earth pony. "What do you do?"

Pinkie thought a moment, then an idea of how she'd react to the large turtle getting the same drink as her.

Gertrude walked over to the shy turtle. Lloyd looks up at her, a bit of shock and some sort of fear blinking in his eyes. Sitting next to him she says,

"Well, hello, good fello!" Pinkie exclaimed.

Fluttershy fell back in her chair a bit at the sudden squeal from Pinkie Pie. But she regained her voice and postion, replying with, "H-hello. Who are you?"

Gertrude smiles at the small reptile. "I am the mighty wizard, Gertrude." She puts her light pink hoof on her breast plate as she introduces herself. "And you might be...?"
The turtle looked away, trying not to show how timid he was. "Um...Lloyd..." He says quietly.

"When in Equestria do we come in?" Dash groaned. She was slightly losing the little patience she had.

Twilight glared at Rainbow, tensing her hooves around her campaign book. "Shush. I will get to you."

Dash rolled her eyes, but just quietly slunk down into her seat.

A dragon-born fighter walks into the inn. She seems mysterious, yet not meaning harm. She looks as if she had intimidated the innkeeper as she asked for a water.

"Roll perception, you two," Twilight said to Pinkie and Fluttershy.

Pinkie was the first to grab the 20-sided-die. She shook it vigorously in her front hooves before letting it go onto the table. t rolled to a 14, making Pinkie grin. Fluttershy was next. She rolled the die, watching it spin across the table. Pinkie's jaw dropped as she rolled a whole 18.

Fluttershy smiled at ths, while Pinkie groaned.

Both the wizard and turtle notice the dragon-born. But Lloyd notices the precious jewels she seemed to have around her ankles and wrists.

"Don't you dare try to pickpocket me," Rainbow said to Pinkie.

"Wouldn't dream of it," The party pony joked.

Gertrude hesitates, but goes towards the fighter. "Who might you be?" She asked. Lloyd watched them from the table, sinking down farther in his chair. The dragon-born looks at her in surprise, then clears her throat. "I am Lira," She says calmly. The wizard smiles and replies, "I am Gertrude, that little fella over there is Lloyd." She points to the turtle who is still sinking in his chair.

"Everyone roll a Dexterity saving throw," Twilight announced.

"A what?" Rainbow Dash questioned.

Pinkie grabbed the dice before Twilight could answer, rolling again. She pouted as it rolled to an 11. Dash snickered as she reached for the dice. She laughed triumphantly as it rolled a 17. Fluttershy's roll was worse than Pinkie Pie's, having the number of 9.

Lloyd heard a loud ringing sound, almost like a firework. He found it interesting, same as Gertrude. The turtle stood as he walked towards the sound. Gertrude followed, curiousity fulfilling their logic. Lira shook her head, putting her nose in between her thumb and index finger. She turned and walked away from the sound, crossing her arms as she leaned against the wall. Gertrude and Lloyd widened their eyes at each other as the noise got closer and louder. A large, red beam shot through the door and at the bar. The innkeeper squealed and ducked. The wizard and the turtle shreaked and lunged out of the way, but not in time. It burned the back legs of them both, making them wince in pain.

"What?!" Pinkie shrieked. "ExCUSE me, but I don't think a pony can walk or stand with their legs burnt."

"Well, neither can a turtle," Fluttershy said.

"Your characters aren't that smart," Dash giggled.

Pinkie Pie glared at the pegasus before Twilight started speaking, "You can rest along with putting cold water on it, it's not severe and won't cause permanent damage."

"Oh my goodness!" A young bat pony came trotting into the building. She had a crimson cape with gold swirls ingraved into the seams. "Are you all ok? I am SO sorry!" The small female innkeeper peered her brown mane and green eyes over the counter. "Wh-who are you?" She stood up, shaking slightly. "Oh, hello! I am Ester, the sorcerer. Heard of me?" Her smile seemed prideful. The innkeeper tilted her head, lifting an eyebrow. "Actually, no, I have not." Ester took great surprise to this, glaring slightly but brushed it off. She noticed the turtle and wizard on the ground and ran to their aid. "Oh no! Are you alright? Here, let me heal you."

"Roll," Twilight said to Rarity.

"What, why?" She asked. "I'm a sorcerer, I should be able to heal them."

The princess shook her head. "That's not how it works in D&D. You need to roll to one, make sure you do the spell properly, and two, to make sure you even know the spell. Whether a sorcerer or not, you can't have that much power."

Rarity muttered something to herself, but grabbed the die. "16. Does it work?"

"Kind of,"

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN KIND OF??" Pinkie stomped her front hooves on the table. "I DO NOT WANT RARITY TO KILL ME AND FLUTTERSHY!"

"I'm not going to kill you," Rarity rolled her eyes.

"You might," Fluttershy said.

Twilight groaned. "No, it works but only partly. The burnt flesh wound is healed, but not fully. They still will need a type of bandaging along with rest."

"Fine," Rarity said.

"I'd like a room," Lira said. The pony nodded. "For just one?" The fighter shook her head. "No, for those three as well." She nodded towards Ester, Lloyd, and Gertrude. The innkeeper glanced at them, then nodded. "4 silver." The part-dragon groaned, but gave her the money. The pony eyed her talons wearily, but took the silver gratefully. "You three," Lira snapped. The three creatures looked up at her. "We've got a room. Come on." She began walking down the hall to the room. Ester looked at the other two before helping them up to go upstairs

"When do I come in?" AJ said, seeming quite impatient.

"I have a plan for you, give me time." Twilight said.

Applejack rasberried and sat back in her chair. Twilight continued.

They followed the dragonborn, watching her steps carefully so they don't lose the way to the room. Once she found it, she glanced behind her shoulder to make sure the others were still behind her. When it was confirmed for them to be close behind, she unlocked the door with her key and stepped inside. The room had velvet carpet, along with two quite large beds. Lira groaned, realizing she'd have to share a bed with one of the dingens. She turned around to find them all admiring the room. She smirked at this and sat on one of the beds. "I love it in here!" Gertrude cried. Ester agreed, same did Lloyd. Lira chuckled. Lloyd came and sat on the opposite bed, Gertrude doing the same. "Mind if I sleep here with you?" Ester asked, smiling. Lira paused, but nodded. As they drifted off to sleep they heard a small faint sounds of wolves howling.

"Applejack," Twilight said, turning to the farmer. "Roll perception."

"Eh..okay?" AJ replied. She grabbed the die and rolled. It landed as a 12, giving her a feeling of disappointment.

William laid awake in his bed. The pony's hooves over top his chest. He looked to his left, seeing the curtains of his window occasionally shifting. He sat up and began to walk towards to glass. He placed a hoof on the window, peering outside. Something caught his eye. Something moving. But it didn't look like any creature he had seen. It looked...far more supernatural and gave shivers down William's spine.

"Welp!" Twilight called out, closing her book. This made herfriends jump. "I gotta go, so do you, girls. It's getting late."

"Wait, what," Applejack said.

"But it just got interesting!" Pinkie and Rainbow whined in unision.

"And I just barely came into the story," AJ placed her hoof down, with a slight force.

"Sorry, but we can continue tomorrow," Twilight smirked. This was her plan. Start it boring, start it with only a few details, then bring in a very interesting part later before they have to leave.

All five of the ponies groaned. But the all agreed to leave, get rest, and they'd come back tomorrow. Twilight grinned as she left the room and went to her own.

When she returned, she placed her storyboard onto her desk and began to write more to where their quest would lead them.
