Ch.4: New Roommates

Silent went out of the door as the dismissal bell rang. Fluttershy was sitting with her friends at the base of the horse statue. Fluttershy saw her and beckoned her over. "How was school today?" She asked as Silent walked over.

She sat with them and took out her notebook. She wrote,"It's been wonderful. Not as crowded as the on I'm from and full of friendly faces." Sunset Shimmer grinned,"Well, I'm glad it's working out great for you." Rainbow Dash spoke,"I saw you on tour with The Dazzlings this morning. Have they been giving you trouble?" Silent shook her head.

The others except Sunset gave her a look of disbelief. "No way! Seriously!? Not even Adagio?" Pinkie asked in shock. Silent shook her head again. Pinkie Pie grabbed a water bottle from her hair and take a big swig from it. Silent look at her with shock. How did she fit that in her hair? Sunset whispered to Silent,"It's best if you don't question Pinkie or you might get a headache. Trust me."

They then said their goodbyes and head separate ways for home. Fluttershy told her she'll meet her at work tonight. Instead of heading home straight away, she heads for Wally World. She needs some more groceries to support her new roommates.

She arrived at the supermarket and grabbed a shopping cart. She heads to the food section. She first grab a few toaster strudels. She was surprised to find strawberry cream cheese flavor and Boston cream. She decided to make beef stew and toast, so she grabbed a few cans and a loaf of bread. She also grabbed blackberry jam and a jug of sweet tea. She also went to the bathing aisle and grab a few supplies. She went to the cashier and paid for the goods.

She opened the door to her house and step inside. She then put her toaster strudels in the freezer. She then got out a pot and pan and turn on two of the burners. She was frying the toast when she heard knocking on the door. She rushed over and opened it. The three sirens were standing there with backpacks full.

Silent led them in the house. The three sat on the couch as she resume her cooking. Sonata was sniffing the air. "Do I smell beef stew and toast?" Silent nodded with a smile. "Where do we sleep?" asked Adagio. Silent wrote something on her notebook and hand it to her.

"Okay, there's two spare bedrooms and the couch can be turn into a bed." She turned to her sisters. "Which one of us getting the couch?" After a long pause, Aria raised her hand. "I'll take it. You two can have the bedrooms." Silent led them by the hallway by the living room. She opened the smaller one first. Inside was a twin size bed with bedding already on it. The room also came with a nightstand and a small closet.

"I'll take it!" shouted Sonata as she threw her book bag on the bed and flopped down on it. Silent smiled with laughter at her. Adagio shook her head. "You have to get to this, Silent. Sonata is almost worst than Pinkie Pie and I'm pretty sure she got a crush on her." she said with a smirk.

Sonata was blushing furiously as she threw a pillow at Adagio. "Oh shut up and kiss Sunset!" she retorted. "Um, l..lets h..head t..to the other room." Adagio stuttered blushing, dragging a clearly confused Silent.

They past the spare bathroom and head to the larger spare room at the end of the hallway. The bed was full sized and the closet even bigger. There's even a vanity set, smaller than her own with a small stool. Adagio looked around with a smile. She look back at Silent. She put down her bag and gave Silent a hug. "Thanks for doing this for us. Without your help, we probably be living on the streets." Silent smiled as to say "no problem."

Adagio looked at her face with frown and slowly brushed her bangs away from her other eye. Silent felt her heart sank as Adagio's widened with horror. She seen the scars. Adagio sat her down on the bed and went out of the room. She came back with Aria and Sonata. "What's the big deal, Dagi? I was helping Silent with the cooking while ya'll went exploring the rooms.", questioned an irritated Aria.

Adagio sat beside Silent and beckoning them closer. She brush her bangs back again. With wide eyes, Aria grabbed her face for a closer look rubbing the scars, while Sonata looked on with horror. Adagio hand Silent her notebook and pencil. "Tell us what happened to your poor pretty face."

Silent froze with worry. Not wanting them to know what had actually happened she wrote; "I fell on something hard the other day, so don't worry about it. Come on, I have to finish dinner.'' She pocketed her notebook with a sigh and head back into the kitchen, while the others looked at each other with worry.

Silent was surprised as she find the stew and the toast was mostly done. She got out a large plate and stack the slices of crispy bread on it. She sat it on the middle of the table. "Need help?" She looked behind and spotted Aria. She was wearing a smile. Silent nodded her head.

Aria grabbed four bowls and spoons , while Silent grabbed four glasses and the tea. She even grabbed the blackberry jam. She grabbed four smaller plates and put a slice of toast each on each plate. She then spread the jam on each one. When they finished setting up the table, Aria shouted "Food's ready!" Sonata rushed to the table, while Adagio followed slowly. All four settle down and dig in.

After the whole evening at the animal shelter, Silent went into her bathroom and turn on the small Jacuzzi. She took off her cloths and slowly sank in the warm, bubble-filled water. She stared at the small but numerous scars on her arms, slowly rubbing it.

She wonder what her new roommates would react if they saw them. Silent knew she can't hide the truth from her new friends forever, just like Fluttershy can't with her friends. She just doesn't want to be reminded of him, of what he did. Her nightmares of him was enough as well as his gun. She kept it hidden in a safe she bought in her closet.

She drained the tub and and put her PJ's on. She headed into the kitchen and pour a cup of milk. She slowly drink it as she look into the darkened living room. Aria was in there, sleeping with peace. Silent watch her with envy, oh how she wish she can sleep like that.

But she can't. Every time she closes her eyes, her father was there invading her dreams. She headed back into her room and laid down on her bed. She tried to fight her sleep, but eventually sleep won.

She was frozen on spot as a large hand strikes her in the face. She can't do nothing as she was thrown on her bed hard. She held her breath as the large hands enclose around her throat. She woke up as she was breathing heavily. She was laying paralyzed on her bed. Her fists were balled up so tightly her nails were making little crescent shaped prints on her palms. And she was sweating all over.

She heard a knock on her bedroom door. She froze for a minute. "Silent, may I use your bathroom? I could use the other but i don't want to wake the others." Aria's voice spoke. Silent took deep breaths and slowly rose to her feet. She look at the clock. It was 12:30 in the morning.

She slowly open the door and nodded her head. Aria looked at her with concern. "Are you OK? You look terrible." Silent nodded her head as Aria headed to her bathroom. She sat on her bed and hugged Stuffy tightly.

The toilet flushed as Aria step out bathroom. She gazed at Silent with concern. "Nightmares?" Silent nodded her head. Aria looked around out the bedroom door and closed it. "May I lay down with you?" Silent pause for a second. She scoot aside as the water bed jiggled and nodded her head.

Aria locked the door and slowly slid in the bed next to her. She giggled as the bed jiggles. "I didn't know this is a water bed." She gazed at Silent who was still frowning. "Do you want to talk about it?" Aria asked softly. Silent shook her head, staring at the wall. Silent felt Aria's hand on her own. She slowly gazed at it.

"You know? You can tell me anything if you want." Her eyes gazed at the notebook and pencil on the nightstand and grabbed them. She slid the notebook towards Silent and slipped the pencil into her grasp. Silent slowly opened the notebook with a sigh and wrote "I'll tell you about it, but not right now. It's too late." Tears fall slowly from her face.

Aria closed the note book and set it aside. She then wrapped her arms around the girl and held her tight. She wiped the tears from her face with her thumb. "Whatever it is, I promise I won't let it hurt you, OK?" Silent nodded her head.

She rested her head against her friend's chest, listening to the steady beat of her heart. "Now close your eyes, I'll be right here with you." She soothed, while running her hand through her hair. Silent slowly closed her eyes and went to a somewhat peaceful sleep.

Aria sighed as she brushed her bangs back and stared at the scars on Silent's face. She knows they're not from a bad fall. It looks like someone smashed something across her face. She then notice something off. She slowly rose her sleeve from one of her arms too look at the bare creamy brown skin. What she saw broke her heart.

Silent's arm is decorated with burn scars from what looks to be cigarettes. She checked her other arm, even more scars. From her shoulders to her wrists. This is something she have to tell Adagio tomorrow. She slowly laid her down and tuck her in.

She wrapped her arms around Silent protectively and soon fell asleep as well.
