//------------------------------// // flaming chick // Story: Ponies and Mons // by ezio dementay //------------------------------// Before we start this chapter, i would like to point out this chapter, and the next two chapters will be the first short arc of the story, and it will focus mostly on just one character, though there will be appearances by other characters. Just pointing that out, now let’s begin... in the forests surrounding Ponyville, a little filly was sleeping in a tree house, alone and scared, all that was there was only the lonely filly, and the creatures of the Everfree forest who howled and growled in the night, kept the filly awake. she looked around, and shivered as the cold air froze her body, but she tried to get back to sleep, thinking about something to make her happy, or at least feel warm inside, but instead she tried to find something to keep her warm instead. she looked at a case of some things she kept here when she and her friends went crusading but she found nothing except a old water bottle she used when she had a cold last time, and there was no way to heat it up tonight, so she would have to sleep cold and shivering tonight, unless by she was lucky and something warm came her way. “it’s always so cold here.. of all the nights to lose my blanket.” she sighed and rubbed her hooves together to generate some warmth, going faster and faster until she thought she saw smoke coming from her hooves, laying down after ten minutes straight and felt like she could sleep now. She looked out a window of the clubhouse and saw how dark it was tonight, almost pitch black darkness that was almost impossible to see through, but that was not on her mind right now, only to get some sleep.. Until she saw something bright in the forest, like a fire or some fireflies.. but they must be really big fireflies. She ventured outside, walking as fast as she could so she wouldn’t get too cold in the night, and saw the source of the light... an orange chicken? She blinked her eyes a few times before believing that a small, orange chicken was walking alone in the Everfree forest, shivering in both the cold and fear. “hey there little chick, where’d you come from?” she asked to the chicken, only getting a shivering cry from the chicken who saw the tree house and ran to it, jumping from some branches and leaping from the last one into the tree house. “Hey that’s my home get back here!” she ran inside, seeing the little chicken rummage through her stuff, before laying down and falling asleep in her make shift bed, which she herself thought was cute of the little chicken. She yawned at went over to her make shift bed, some pillows and a cover that she and her friends made a while back, putting the cover over her, until a strong gust of wind came along and blew the cover away, she watching as her cover flew out of the window. “Oh come on! This isn’t fair!” she was almost on the verge of tears as her cover blew away, her last source of warmth gone to the wind. She felt something warm her leg, and most of her small body, but the warmth wasn’t any normal heat, it felt like fire, but it also felt soft and fluffy... Kind of like... Fluffy fire in a weird, but incredibly accurate as well. She looked down and saw the chicken looking at her, with a look in her witch looked like that of a child looking at her mother and the look basically said “my hugs will warm you up” and with that, the little filly hugged the little chicken as tight as she could, feeling warmer than she’s ever felt for a long, long time. “My names Scootaloo, what’s yours little guy?” Scootaloo, held the little chicken, and rocked her back and forth to make the chicken fall asleep, before the chicken said “Torchic” in pure happiness from Scootaloo looking after her like a mother would. “Hmm... you’re probably one of applejacks chickens... You must have escaped from applejacks farm” she sighed knowing she would have to give her new friend back tomorrow. “I’ll give you back tomorrow... Unless... Unless you want to stay here with me?” Torchic noticed that Scootaloo was offering her something, and like a child, he nodded happily. Scootaloo yayed and picked up the little chick, but while hugging it, the chick fired a ball off fire our of its mouth and through the roof of the club house, still being visible for a good twenty seconds before disappearing completely in the atmosphere. “Wow! That’s so awesome!” Scootaloo hugged Torchic again, though this time not enough to create another fireball of destruction that could burn the entire forest in twenty seconds flat, but just enough to feel the warmth of Torchic. They both fell asleep soon after the hug, with Scootaloo holding Torchic like a teddy for warmth, seeing as this bird can somehow breathe fire, and felt as warm as a water bottle just by holding it, which still surprised Scootaloo, but she didn’t really care right now, she was happy to fall asleep The next day... Scootaloo awoke to Torchic playfully looking at her, smiling happily at how cute Torchic was being with the stuck up feathers, but Torchic also looked kind of cool as well, kind of like a fighting chicken in a way. She thought to herself of what to do, and remembered her friends were coming round today to play some games, so she would have to explain a few things to her friends about a fire breathing chicken she found in a forest. Before she could think straight, she heard Torchic’s stomach rumbling and decided to get some food for her friend. They exited the tree house and looked for some apples to eat, or anything to eat really that would not poison or paralyze them, and this was easy for Scootaloo, as she knew the forest better than most ponies did, except zecora, the local herbalist. She went to a spot where she always found some blueberry’s all the time in summer, and picked a few for her, and a lot more for Torchic, seeing as Torchic was eating blue berry’s as soon as they got there. “Torchic don’t eat them all, we need to save some for the rest of the week you silly little-“Scootaloo was cut off by a giant spider dropping down from the tree and landing in front of her, the spiders size and fangs making Scootaloo scared, and the colours and markings on the abdomen of the creature just screamed death and fear to Scootaloo. She looked around in fear and screamed in terror “Torchic help please!” Torchic ran to the spider and tackled the bug, sending the bug back a few feet. The spider fired spikes or poison from its mouth at Torchic, but he dodged and fired some little bits of fire at the spider, causing massive damage to it, before pecking it multiple times with its beck. “go Scootaloo, go!” Scootaloo shouted surrport for Torchic, who used this added courage to fire a concentrated blast of fire of at the spider, sending it flying through multiple tree’s, having a look of victory on its face. Torchic was picked up by Scootaloo in a hug of celebration, making Torchic smile in happiness at Scootaloo and say her name repeatedly in victory against the massive spider. “oh Torchic, you’re so awesome!” she carried Torchic on her back and ran around all over the forest, with her new friend riding on her back.. i hope you have enjoyed the first chapter of the arc, i may be preoccupied over the next few day's, so chapters might be a bit slow to coming out.
