Cursed Reliquary

Second Entry: Discovery or Hidden Memories?

Date: Twenty-Fifth of Autumn Year 1

With the creation of the gems for these... lets call them Sirens because of how they use music. Anyway, with the creation of the gems for the Sirens I have been made aware of something that I can only assume I have been ignoring until now.

How, precisely, does magic work? Yes I understand that it is magic and therefor not something I should be capable of completely understanding, but I feel as if I should already know this.

Thankfully I was capable of trading a few items to a traveler in exchange for his literacy. So while I -for whatever reason- was capable of speaking the local language and several others that I am confident I had never heard before, I am now also capable of reading and writing in a few of these languages as well. I will continue to write this journal in the Hebrew Alef-Bet however.

I like the runic look it gives, and it will be far better encrypted as well. I have met very few others that were capable of reading Hebrew in my time, the fact I know it myself is simply from high school boredom.

I am getting off track however.

With my new found ability to read the local language I have procured several books on magic, unfortunately they were less then useful as none of there authors seemed to be Scholars researching magic itself and were filled with mostly useless, for me anyway, spells.

There was one however that mentioned Ley Lines and The World Weave. With something to focus on now I procured more books, well, scrolls to be precise.

A note for the future; most proper Scholars seem to use scrolls rather then books. And no, I will not say how I got them.

With my new material I was capable of doing a proper study... And felt as though I was reviewing something that I knew by heart. Curious.

Ley Lines are, to put it in a way any clever decoder might understand, the Veins and Arteries of the world. Only instead of blood they transfer magic in a constant cycle through the world and will not move unless impossibly powerful magic is involved. Most Unicorn and Abyssinian city's are built on top of them, usually on any cross sections they can find. Nothing I haven't heard of in my home world. Mostly in mythology, but still, nothing new to me.

The World Weave, however, is something that should be new to me and yet it is not. The World Weave is the bleed off of Ley Lines. It is similar to the ocean or high altitude wind, moving in currents and tides but changing at the slightest provocation. It is where most living beings pull their natural magic from, and those extremely sensitive to or pulling large amounts of magic from it can even feel an aethereal wind. A wind that will most oftenly make hair move in a direction the wind is not blowing, possibly even the opposite direction, or in a windless environment.

And with the... review done I began to search any studies on Primordial Void Magic, or Chaos Arcana as Master Sura would put it. But the only thing I found was a warning.

Beware the cold unpredictable grip of The Void.

A warning worth warrant? Or the mad ramblings of Grogar? The only being that was willing or insane enough to study the void for the creation of his monsters.

Only one way to find out. Studying the Void Gems that the Sirens bring me should prove of use.

Farewell til I write again,

Nox The Unfortunate

Freezing Sun and Burning Moon,
The world moves for you.
Delusional and Terrified,
The God fearing Crusade.
Rise and Fall,
Collapse it all.
The End?
Or New Beginning?
