//------------------------------// // Prologue - The Weapons of a Warrior // Story: Star Ponies Episode I - The Scourge of the Republic // by Violet Mist //------------------------------// “Remember, young one… a Jedi’s true weapon is the Force.” A young Twilight Sparkle stared up at Jedi Grandmaster Celestia, her eyes sparkling as the elegant alicorn spoke. Alicornism was a significance of the pinnacle of Jedi Order success; a privilege granted to only the most powerful warriors in the Order. All Jedi dream of obtaining such power, especially the younger breeds, who don’t know better when speculating their maximum amount of power. However, Twilight Sparkle was different. Extracted from Coruscant’s inner city, Twilight was a special being who possessed more midichlorians than the majority of Jedi younglings. And while she didn’t quite resemble the sacred Jedi prophecy that had yet to be fulfilled, she was still expected to be a vital part of the Jedi Order in the future. Not the Chosen One. But she sometimes imagined herself as that. Grandmaster Celestia leaned over Twilight with a small smile on her face, and the small unicorn lost focus of the ceiling of the atrium they were in. It was just them, alone, with no distractions. Rarely would anyone have the chance to meet the powerful and wise Jedi, much less a master-less youngling. One day Twilight would have her own master, and be raised as a Padawan, just as everyone else in the Order was. The sound of a lightsaber igniting was heard, and a golden hue separated Grandmaster Celestia and Twilight Sparkle. This blade was a special one—no other Jedi in the galaxy possessed such a brilliant saber like Grandmaster Celestia. The tall alicorn studied the golden blade from hilt to tip, the hum of it mesmerizing to the youngling. Twilight then tilted her head, getting a good view at the grandmaster as the blade’s hue reflected off her pink eyes. Celestia’s eyes darted to the small unicorn as she moved the blade out of the way, getting a better look at her. “Twilight Sparkle, while the force is a Jedi’s true weapon… we mustn’t deny the fact that the lightsaber is still a crucial component of a warrior’s arsenal. Once you find your master, observe their skills with a blade—” She waved it around carefully with the Force to demonstrate. “And adapt to their style.” Only Force users were able to wield a lightsaber for a long time in the galaxy. But as the sabers started adapting for magic use, other unicorns were able to use them as their own. Of course, this spiked the lightsaber’s already massive worth on the black market—but it was difficult to obtain one, if you weren’t a Jedi. Twilight cooed as she watched the lightsaber wave around above her before the light retracted, the hum cutting off with a loud screech sound. Then it was silent as Grandmaster Celestia put the hilt back in its holster on her belt, crouching down so she was eye level with Twilight. “One day you will be watching over the galaxy with your Jedi brothers and sisters, Twilight. And I can’t wait to see that day.” Twilight smiled wide as her eyes sparkled with delight, a hint of power and the Force in that very twinkle.
