//------------------------------// // I Guess This Is A Date // Story: How To Charm A Bug // by ShowShine //------------------------------// Zephyr Breeze stood in front of the mirror, brushing teeth. He spit into his cracked sink and looked up at the mirror, winking to himself. He walked out of the bathroom, excited to see his new crush. He walked into his living room that looked run down. He had a faded orange couch with a lot of rips and tears in it. Next to the couch, there was an old brown table. On the table, there was a gift bag with hearts all over it. “Some sweets for my sweetheart,” Zephyr said to himself, picking up the bag and putting it under his wing. He walked towards his door, holding the bag in his mouth. He opened the front door, taking a step outside. A large rat ran in front of Zephyr, holding a carrot in its mouth. It let out a loud hiss and swiped at him before running off. Zephyr didn’t live in the best part of Cloudsdale. There was always crime and violence. “How do rats even get up here?” Zephyr questioned to himself. He shrugged it off and walked through his apartment building. It was badly built and everything was falling apart. An old blue stallion walked out of an apartment, holding a trash bag in his mouth. “Hi, Mr. Snowflake.” Zephyr greeted happily. The stallion scowled at him. “Get a job, you useless child!” He exclaimed, shaking his hoof in the air. “I do have a job!” Zephyr shouted back, walking away. He walked down the rickety stairs, listening to his various neighbor's fight. The stairs were old and chipped. Zephyr made his way to the bottom of the stairs, hopping off of the last step. He took the bag from under his wing and put it in his mouth. He walked out of the front door, which was ripped off of its hinges. Zephyr Breeze opened his wings and flew into the air, wanting to avoid getting mugged again. He flew high above the crummy apartment buildings. He had a large smile on his face, excited to see his new loved one. Chrysalis walked around the forest, levitating the piece of purple wood. She stopped walking and looked around. “Why do I feel like I’m forgetting something important?” She asked the piece of wood. An aquamarine blur fell in front of her, landing on the ground with a thud. Zephyr Breeze laid on the ground, his mane messily strewn on his face. He pulled his mane back into a messy bun and laid on the ground, wanting to stay there for a while. “Oh right, you’re here.” Chrysalis groaned with an eye roll. Zephyr quickly stood up, wearing a large grin on his face. He handed her the gift bag that had red and pink hearts all over it. “I got you something, Chrissy.” Zephyr said with a large smile. Chrysalis gave a look of disgust. “Don’t call me Chrissy.” She hissed out, taking the bag out from his hooves. She reached into the bag and pulled out a heart-shaped box of chocolates. “I know you only eat love, but you should try chocolate, that tastes good too,” Zephyr explained. Chrysalis reached into the bag again and pulled out a stuffed dog. It was brown with a drooping face and a big smile. Its arms were outstretched for a hug and ok it’s chest it said ‘I love you this much!’ in bold red letters. It looked pathetic. “Do you like it?!” Zephyr asked excitedly. Chrysalis opened her mouth to say something rude but stopped herself when she saw Zephyr's face. She didn’t want to admit it, but he actually looked adorable. “I love it!” She exclaimed, hugging the stuffed dog. Zephyr Breeze grinned happily. Chrysalis felt a warm feeling inside of her chest. ” Why didn’t I just insult him? His gift looks stupid. What’s this feeling in my stomach?” She thought to herself. She couldn’t be catching feelings for this pathetic welp. “What do you want to do? I can make us flower crowns. It’ll bring out those colors in your mane.” Zephyr explained running is hoof through Chrysalis’ mane. “It’ll be better than walking around the forest,” Chrysalis stated with a shrug. Zephyr grinned happily. “I’ll go find some flowers!” He exclaimed happily, flying off. He hit his head on a nearby low hanging tree branch, making him fall to the ground. He quickly stood up, wobbling a bit. “I’m okay!” Zephyr shouted before running off into the forest. Chrysalis giggled and her cheeks turned pink. She quickly shook her head. “There is no way I’ve fallen for him, especially after one day. I just enjoy his company. I’ve been alone for months.” Chrysalis said to herself. She looked at the pitiful looked stuffed dog and hugged it, blushing a bit. Zephyr Breeze tumbled through some bushes, holding flowers in his mouth. Chrysalis quickly hid the dog behind her back, not letting him see that she was showing affection. “I got some flowers to match your mane,” Zephyr said, holding up dark purple and light blue flowers. “Those flowers are too bright for my mane, the colors would clash,” Chrysalis stated. Zephyr shook his head, braiding the flowers together. “These flowers are going to go perfect with your mane. The colors are going to mix perfectly.” He said, finishing up the flower crown. He flew up to Chrysalis’ head and placed it on her head. He looked at her and his cheeks turned pink. “You’re beautiful,” Zephyr stated, breaking out into a grin. Chrysalis’ cheeks turned pink from embarrassment. This was the first time someone had ever complimented her. If she had ever gotten complimented, she was usually in a disguise or she ordered one of her subjects to. This was the first time someone truly loved her. “I think I’m in love.” Chrysalis thought out loud. Zephyr Breeze let out a gasp and broke out into a grin. “You love me?!” Zephyr asked in disbelief. Chrysalis crossed her arms and stuck her nose up in the air. “I was talking about the flower crown, not you.” She said, trying to hide her blush. Zephyrs ears flattened in disappointment before the quickly shot up. “You didn’t reject me, so I still have a chance with you!” Zephyr said confidently. Before Chrysalis could respond, a drop of cold water hit her nose. She looked up to see storm clouds covering the sky. “It’s always so hard to find shelter when it rains.” Chrysalis groaned out. Zephyr tilted his head in confusion. “Wait, you live in this forest?” He asked. Chrysalis nodded her head, feeling more water drip on her. “How about you stay at my place until the storm passes over? I could never let a lady stay in the rain.” Zephyr suggested. Chrysalis quickly shook her head, her cheeks turning pink. “I am not spending the night with you, I can handle rain.” She stated. There was a large crack of thunder and rain started to pour down, pelting both of them in cold rain. “Never mind, I’m staying with you,” Chrysalis said. Zephyr broke out into a grin and opened his wings. “Follow me!” He exclaimed, flying off. Chrysalis let out a sigh and followed him. This was going to be an interesting night.
