After a breakfast that leaves me unable to move, I am forced to make the trek back to Twilights library so she can ‘study’ me. I don’t mind, in fact I’m looking forward to it, maybe her results can give a clue to how I turned up here. The Apple family bid me goodbye after i thanked them for the gorgeous breakfast, Applejack escorted me to the front of the farm. she offered to walk to Twilights with me, I declined gratefully, wanting to be alone with my thoughts. The walk also feels good, since it’s helped me get over breakfast. Don’t think for a second that I’ve forgotten about my brother, as soon as I’m fit enough to, I will look for him, and I’ll probably start in the Everfree forest, since that’s where I ended up.
By the time I reach the library, I almost feel back to normal. I knock on the door, Spike opens it, he still looks asleep, and so I guess that this is early for him even though the sun is high in the sky already. Twilight rushes to the door before I can even say anything to Spike.
“Great, you’re here, let’s waste no time and get started.” Twilight exclaims.
“Mornin to you too Twilight.” I reply as I follow here into the library.
She leads me down a spiral staircase into what looks like Dr Frankenstein’s laboratory, it’s more than a little bit creepy, but I try not let my concern shows. Twilight is rushing around connecting various wires to various machines, getting pieces of paper organised and gathering other supplies. I stand there like a statue staring in awe at all the machinery, “you don’t have TV, but you have this.” I think to myself.
“Come over here please and put this on” Twilight beckons me to a large machine with several pieces of paper with all kinds of readings coming out of it, I hope this doesn’t hurt. I place a strange looking helmet on my head; it seems to be hooked up to the machine.
“Soooo, what does this machine do?” I ask, still trying not to let fear show.
“This machine will be able to record all sorts of medical things about you, bone structure, DNA, illnesses and so on and so forth.” Twilight informs me. She then walks over to a large switch and turns it on. I close my eyes and wait for the pain when I hear her say “done.” Now I feel stupid.
I open my eyes and see that the machine is pushing papers out every second. I take the helmet off and walk towards Twilight. I’m about to ask her if she’s found anything when I hear Spike call from upstairs, “Twi, someone special here to see you.”
I can see from her expression that she’s annoyed, considering she’s been waiting ages for these results. Anyway, she slowly trots upstairs, I follow. We reach the top where she suddenly stops. I ask her what’s wrong, she doesn’t respond. Then she quickly goes to the floor, almost in a sort of bow. Then I see why. There standing in front of me is a huge white unicorn with wings, Princess Celestia!
For a second, I don’t know what to do, but since I see Twilight bowing, I do the same. I get on one knee, like I’m just about to be knighted by the Queen. I stay in this pose for what seems like ages. A bead of sweat runs down my face and hits the floor; it’s so quiet I can hear it hit the wooden boards. Then I feel the Princesses wing touch my shoulder, like I’m being knighted, weird, I know. I rise to my feet and raise my head to meet the Princesses gaze.
“I guess you have been wondering how you ended up here in Equestria, well, before I explain it to you, you must understand, there is no going back.” Her voice is hard and steady, not a syllable being missed. The revelation that I can’t go back hits me hard. Even though I had an idea that this may be the case, it’s still a shock.
No one says a single word, so the Princess continues. “Here in Equestria, magic is not always stable; sometimes it can cross over to different universes. I cannot prevent this from happening, but I can sense it. And it is possible that it can teleport beings from one universe to the other. I felt the magic that brought you here escape as did I know when you arrived. That’s how I knew to come search for you. However, in order to be teleported, a beings life force must be weak enough that it cannot resist the magic that is absorbing it."
Twilight remains dormant, not saying a single word.
I cut in " so that explains it" I may as well explain what happened here and now, " I was in alot of trouble with some people. so much so they wanted me dead. they chased me to a bridge in my car." i dont know if they know what a car is, but I continue nonetheless. " They forced us off the bridge, and I crashed, I was sure I was going to die." I then let the Princess continue with her explanation.
"However, you should not be the only one. I sensed enough magic to bring two beings here.”
“My brother” I say quietly. I cant keep the secret anymore.
“Pardon me?” The Princess asks.
“I haven’t told anyone yet, but when I got in my accident, my brother was sitting right beside me. Like he always was, by my side. But when I woke up he was gone. He’s my only family that cares for me and I’d vowed to stick with him. In fact, once I’d fully recovered I was going to look for him, but I got caught up doing other things.” I feel like I’m close to crying.
Then the Princess speaks up “well, I can see how much you care and I will do all I can to help you. What I can tell you right now is that he’s alive, since the magic in his body is still active, but it is getting weaker.”
That’s all I need to know. After thanking the Princess I rush out the door only to be stopped by Twilight calling my name.
“Where are you planning on going?” she yells
“The Everfree forest!” I shout back.
“You’ll need help.” She replies.
All of a sudden, I get what she means by help. Don’t worry James, I’m gonna find you.
