Spike's Turnabout

Twilight's Situation

Twilight Sparkle is in Fluttershy's room. She's isolating herself from her friends and Fluttershy's animals. For days now, Twilight rethinks her decisions on who she wants to be. Cadance's question still lingers in her mind; What kind of a Princess do I want to be? Twilight gazes at Luna's moon. Spike is on her mind, the Elements of Harmony, the Tree of Harmony, her friends, Princess Celestia, and Daybreaker. Her flaws, her mistakes are clouding her mind. She corrupted a friendship, got disowned by the Elements, exposed, and cause Princess Celestia to go insane. Twilight doesn't know what she can do to improve. With everything against her, she's afraid of messing up.

"What kind of a Princess do I want to be?" Twilight ponders that question. It's one she can't answer right away. Her decisions, her actions will reflect on the type of Princess she'll become. Twilight continues to look at the night sky for answers. "I'm not ready to answer that question, Cadance."

Fluttershy overhears Twilight talking to herself from the living room. She can't help but feel saddened by everything that has happened since Spike ran away. Fluttershy goes to the kitchen to brew some tea. She places a cup and puts a plate of cookies on a tray. She takes it upstairs and knocks on the bedroom door.

"...Twilight. I have tea and cookies. ...Please open up..."

Twilight opens the door, takes the tray, and closes the door. Still, wanting to be left alone. Twilight uses her magic to levitate a quill and paper to write out her thoughts.

What kind of Princess do I want to be?

I want to be a better Princess than Celestia. I want to be a humble Princess than I used to be. Making better decisions, learning more of Friendship, learn from my mistakes, learn to let go.

Twilight enters a trance after writing her thought. Can she let go of Spike? Twilight remembers the first few weeks of taking care of Spike. She loved him and took care of him throughout the years. She questions what she did wrong until a sharp, grueling feeling strikes her heart. It was Princess Celestia's teachings that made her focus more than Spike. Learning about Friendship and reporting to Celestia was her number one objective. Learning magic was second. Helping friends was third. Then she realizes her flaw.

"I've completed my goal as a student. I failed as a parent. Instead of being there for Spike, I used him instead of raising him. I made him feel worthless. Nothing more than a tool to help me around the library. I left him behind while I had fun with my friends. I now see the error of my ways and not out of anger or sadness. I fully understand why you wanted to leave, Spike. You have every right to do so. I could have told the girls to lighten up on you. I should have saved you from the melting ice block or told the girls to get you. I put my goals and myself over you, Spike. I should have put you first. You are a baby dragon after all,"

Twilight is using her magic to show an image of Spike and talks to it. Fluttershy couldn't help herself. She's eavesdropping Twilight's conversation to herself. Fluttershy decides tomorrow, she and the girls will have friends meeting to decide what to do next and how to help Twilight cope with the loss of Spike better. Hopefully, this'll help Twilight not go into insanity.

"Oh, Spike. I promise to be a better mother to you when you do allow me to be part of your life once more. I promise to put you first; everything else will be second. I'll be a better Princess than Celestia was during her reign. I'll learn from Luna and have discipline with my actions," Twilight imagines Spike asking her what kind of Princess she wants to be. "I'll be a Princess that values Friendships and values the well being of everyone. Take action rather than having someone else fight for my battles, unlike a former Princess I know of," Twilight said. She starts to shake a bit for her continuation to mention, Princess Celestia. Losing herself a bit. "I'll eradicate Daybreaker for what she's done and about to accomplish! Live with Spike at the Castle in Pony Central! I'll be anew with Spike's new friends!" Twilight starts laughing maniacally.

After a while of her laughter, Twilight starts noticing her behavior. If she doesn't control herself, she might as well become Daybreaker's accomplice. She doesn't know what's wrong with her or why she's behaving like this. Twilight then looks at the night sky. She starts writing a letter for Fluttershy and flies to Canterlot.

An hour later. Twilight Sparkle lands in front of Luna's balcony. Princess Luna stares in front of Twilight as she was about to observe Canterlot during the night.

"Hello, Twilight."

"Hello, Princess Luna."

"What troubles you, Twilight Sparkle?"

"I need your assistance. I need your help to better discipline myself. I feel that I'm starting to lose myself into insanity."

"Explain," Luna said calmly.

Twilight Sparkle talks about her anxiety and her frustrations getting the better of her. Talked about her emotions thrives her to do unnecessary boundaries. Always trying to make sure everything is perfect and organized. She mentions her body twitching when things don't go her way or when she starts going stir crazy. Twilight told Luna about imaging Spike using her magic to talk to him. Twilight talks about answering Cadance's question by jotting her thoughts on paper. Princess Luna acknowledges Twilight's situation.

"Princess Twilight Sparkle. I command thee to sleep. You are under heavy stress. I'll evaluate your symptoms as a Princess for you to overcome in the next few months."

"Thank you, Princess Luna," Twilight bows and trots to Princess Celestia's room. It'll be her room for now on. Princess Luna removed all of Celestia's belongings earlier in the week.

"Seems Twilight has more than an OCD problem. Her frantic behavior could be an extension of Daybreaker's mind manipulation. Perhaps a different way that Grim hasn't told me. I'll have to examine her thoroughly. Also, I have to narrow down my plans to help Twilight become a successful Princess. One that doesn't sit back and watch everypony else work. Can't have a lazy Princess ruling all of Equestria again." Princess Luna looks at her night sky. "I wonder what you are doing tonight, Spike? I'll come by and visit you and your friends soon. I have important matters to attend to starting tomorrow morning."

20 minutes later. At Fluttershy's cottage, Fluttershy knocks on the bedroom door.

"...Uh, Twilight? ...I need to talk to you for a few moments," Fluttershy asks. "I'm taking your silence as a yes," Fluttershy comes in and sees her bedroom. Twilight is not in sight. A note is, though. Fluttershy starts reading.

"Dear Fluttershy,

I decided to go to Canterlot early than expected. I need Princess Luna's guidance to answer Cadance's question. I ought to answer myself. I cannot. I'm in dire need to seek Luna's guidance on how to better myself as a future ruler of Equestria and to better myself for the sake of Friendship. I'll come by and see you and the girls in a few weeks.

Your Friend,

Princess Twilight Sparkle.

P.S. Thanks for letting me stay with you for the past few days. I needed it."

Fluttershy finished reading the note. She understands Twilight's decision and wishes her for the best. She hopes that Twilight will get the help she needs.
