Fluttershy smiled as she looked down from the high backed throne. The throne room itself was full of singing birds, little animals, and of course, ponies. They all gathered around to hear her words of kindness, and guidance. She had just been crowned the new princess of kindness and taken over running all of Equestria since Princess Celestia and Luna had retired. The element of kindness, who had turned one of the greatest enemies of all good. She smiled, looking over at Discord who was currently busy turning things into chocolate for Pinkie Pie's enjoyment.
Looking down, Fluttershy smiled as she saw her other friends near the bottom of the stairs. Obviously, they were waiting for her to finish enjoying herself so they could come and speak with her. She motioned them up and they approached, all smiling happily at her. Rainbow Dash was, of course, the first to speak. "Good going there, 'princess.'"
Fluttershy giggled happily as Rarity gave her a proper bow. "You look magnificent, your majesty."
More giggling from Fluttershy as Pinkie Pie hopped up the stairs, her mouth stained with chocolate. "You should get Discord to turn the entire banquet into chocolate!"
While Rarity was busy trying to hush Pinkie Pie, Applejack took her turn. "I'm sure you'll make a good princess, sugar cube."
Fluttershy turned her gaze to Twilight, biting her bottom lip nervously. Twilight had been the one who was supposed to be in the throne right now. Before the change in plans when Fluttershy had heroicly fought off the three villains ruining Twilight's coronation. Twilight, however, seemed perfectly happy with the turn of events. "A non-alicorn princess, this will take some getting used to." Twilight grinned, causing Fluttershy to let out a long sigh of relief.
"I'm glad you're not upset, Twilight!" Fluttershy got up off her new throne to give each of her friends a quick hug. Though she had to pause and let Rarity clean up the smeared chocolate off of Pinkie Pie. Fluttershy couldn't ruin her pretty new dress. She looked over the ponies watching her. They were waiting for some kind of speech of course. Fluttershy puffed up her chest, she couldn't let down her public, could she?
She approached the conveniently placed lectern at the bottom of the steps of her throne. She smiled, she wasn't shy anymore. Now she was a courageous warrior queen! Looking at all the other ponies she raised her voice to be easily heard by all in the... No. In her throne room. "Greetings, my faithful subjects! Time of change can be scary to many! Trust me, I know." Fluttershy smiled at the appreciative chuckle from the crowd. "But you have nothing to fear! We have defeated all the enemies who have come against us!" Fluttershy wasn't one for harping on fighting but the people needed assurance. "I, and the other elements shall combat any new threats that come upon us."
Fluttershy let the applause die down before she continued. "And, I have an announcement to make! In accordance with the protection of Equestria I have negotiated alliances with our neighbors." Fluttershy motioned over to where Prince Rutherford of the yaks, elder Rain Shine of the kirin, Queen Novo of the hippogriffs, Dragon Lord Ember, Thorax of the changelings, the king of the griffons, the sultan of Saddle Arabia, Chief Thunderhooves of the buffalo tribes, and the king of the Abyssinians were. "We have formed alliances with the yaks, kirin, hippogriffs, dragons, changelings, griffons, the sultanate of Saddle Arabia, the buffalo tribes, and the Abyssinian kingdom." Fluttershy had to pause for breath after that long sentence. She smiled though, straightening up as the crowd applauded politely for the visiting leaders. "With the Grand Equestrian Alliance, none of us will have to fear threats from the likes of the Storm King ever again!"
"Furthermore, the crown is taking an initiative to make sure that all the creatures of the forest are looked after. And that through great compassion and kindness the timberwolves will be tamed and brought into a proper place of peaceful coexistence with all other creatures!" Fluttershy grinned, her changes would make Equestria a paradise for everypony! And as Princess, she could now...
BANG BANG BANG!
Fluttershy blinked and looked over at the door, her ears falling as she looked away from the mirror. Chewing on her bottom lip as Rainbow Dash pushed over the door. "Hey, Fluttershy, you done in here? Twilight's Coronation is just about to start!"
Fluttershy sighed a little and nodded. "Yes, I'm coming..." She looked back at the mirror where she'd been busy imagining how things might have been different but turned back to the door. Thankful to see that Rainbow Dash had left already and she wiped her nose with the back of her leg. "I could have done it..." Fluttershy mumbled as she paced out the door, bumping right into the Twilight.
"Oh! I'm sorry Fluttershy." Twilight smiled as she helped Fluttershy up. "Sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going. I'm in a bit of a rush." Twilight giggled at her joke before frowning a little. "Hey, Fluttershy, is something the matter?"
Fluttershy shook her head, looking away from her long-time friend. "No... Don't worry about it Twilight." She swallowed, hoping that Twilight wouldn't pry further.
Twilight, however, wasn't going to let it go that easily. "Fluttershy, don't try to hide it! What's the ma..."
Twilight's question was interrupted by Rainbow Dash, again. Opening the door down the hall she called out. "Hey! Twilight! Get your princess butt in gear!"
Twilight glared down the hall before looking at Fluttershy again. "Uh... She has a point. Can we talk later, Fluttershy?"
Fluttershy nodded and without a second to waste Twilight flew off down the hall. Fluttershy sighed and took a moment to compose herself before following at a more sedate pace. She couldn't bring this up to her friends. She wasn't made for the spotlight, she knew. She would forever be, waiting in the wings.
