Rarity, Ponyville’s fashion designer and seamstress, she had four friends. Their names were Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy. Each of her friends had their jobs. Applejack was the Sweet Apple Acres farmer, Rainbow Dash was responsible for the weather, her dream was to become a Wonderbolt, Pinkie Pie was the Ponyville confectioner of Sugarcube Corner, and Fluttershy was the Ponyville veterinarian. Rarity always tried to please her friends, she tried to aggravate her friends with the dresses that she made. And to her delight, she always made her friends happy. It also made her happy, because she was helping. She always liked to feel useful. Rarity had just shopped for her new dress. She planned to go to Boutique Carrousel to make the dresses for the Galloping Grand Gala. Yes. They were invited by Princess Celestia. Each one already had its invitation. Rarity planned to make the dresses today. Although the gala isn’t today or tomorrow, Rarity wanted to get the dresses ready. She wanted to help her friends.
“Rarity!” exclaimed Applejack at a diner with her other friends.
Rarity heard Applejack’s voice and went over to where her friends were, “hello, darlings. What's the novelty?”
Who talked now was Pinkie Pie, “I made new types of Cupcakes at Sugarcube Corner. Who wants to go taste it? ”
“Pinkie, we’re already in a diner. We can’t eat multiple things at once”, said Applejack.
Pinkie Pie was sad, but soon cheered up, “ok! Lucky I brought the Cupcakes with me”, said Pinkie Pie, before taking a plate of Cupcakes. The others didn’t know how Pinkie Pie did it. But they thought it best not to question. Because the things Pinkie Pie didn’t made no sense.
Pinkie Pie looked at the hot pink Cupcake, which was probably strawberry flavored, before eating it whole. Rarity and the others didn’t understand how Cupcake didn’t get stuck in Pinkie Pie’s throat or how the pony didn’t choke on Cupcake, but they decided not to question.
Rarity realized that her friends didn’t answer her question, “So, darlings? What's the novelty?”
Applejack looked at Rarity, “everything looks the same to me. I wake up, feed the animals and pick apples”
“An animal was injured near my house. I had to take him to my house to take care of him”, replied Fluttershy, now almost hidden under the table, but her head was still being seen.
“I had no novelty. The only novelty is that I’m getting more and more awesome every day”, replied Rainbow Dash with a proud smile.
“You don’t have to show yourself either, do you?” said Applejack, in an unhappy way.
Rainbow Dash glared at Applejack, “hey! You don’t have to play it in the face!”
“Sorry, sugarcube. But I’m just being honest”, said Applejack, now with her eyes closed.
“Girls! Stop fighting, please! Let Rarity speak now. She hasn’t told us yet if she has anything new”, said Fluttershy, breaking up the fight.
Rainbow Dash and Applejack stopped fighting. Applejack tried not to feel guilty because she was just being honest and Rainbow Dash was fighting not to feel sorry.
“So, Rarity? Do you have any novelty?” asked Fluttershy with a gentle smile.
Rarity was sad, “unfortunately not, dear ...”
Rarity’s friends were sad. They liked novelty, “... But I will make the dresses for the Great Galloping Gala that will take place next month!” exclaimed Rarity cheerfully.
Rarity’s friends were happy. Well, except Applejack who felt a little annoyed, “Rarity, this is novelty”
“That’s right, darling”, agreed Rarity with a smile.
“... You lied”, Applejack finished in an unhappy way. The others were surprised.
“What? No. It was not my intention to lie to all of you, I intended to surprise you all with this”, Rarity tried to explain, now desperate.
“Sorry, Rarity. But I can’t be friends with somepony who lies”, said that, Applejack left the diner. They watched Applejack leave the diner. Rarity’s friends looked back at Rarity, who was sad. She didn’t mean to lie, but to surprise. Why did Applejack take this honesty thing so seriously? Rarity even understands why, but she doesn’t understand why Applejack no longer wants to be her friend just because she intended to surprise her friends.
Fluttershy went to Rarity, who was fighting not to cry, “It’s okay, Rarity. We won’t stop being your friends just because you wanted to surprise us”
Rarity looked uncertain, “really, dear?” had a tear in her eye.
“Yes, Rarity”, Fluttershy wiped the tear from Rarity’s eye with a hoof. Rarity smiled at that. One of the reasons she liked Fluttershy was because Pegasus was always kind and understanding to others.
“How do you want your gala dresses?” wanted to know Rarity, now with a notepad and a quill.
“I want mine to have flowers, butterflies and to be green,” replied Fluttershy. “If that’s okay with you”
“No problem, darling”, said Rarity with a smile at Fluttershy, before looking at the others.
“I want mine to be pink and have candy!” exclaimed Pinkie Pie excitedly. Rarity didn’t know where she was going to get candy, but she was going to try to improvise.
“I want mine to be twenty percent cool”, said Rainbow Dash proudly. Rarity didn’t know how she would make a dress for Rainbow Dash, but she would try to make Rainbow’s dress the way Rainbow likes it.
“All that’s left is Applejack”, said Rarity.
Rainbow Dash approached Rarity, “Are you sure you want to make a dress for Applejack? She doesn’t even consider you your friend anymore”
“Darling, she has an invitation too. And I won’t stop thinking about my friends”, replied Rarity.
Rainbow Dash didn’t understand why Rarity still considered Applejack her friend, after what Applejack did to her, but she didn’t mean to question.
After leaving the diner, Rarity and the others went to their homes. Rarity intended to talk to Applejack. Although she was saddened by what Applejack said, she intended to make the dresses. When she arrived at Sweet Apple Acres, she knocked on the barn door. Applejack answered. But her smile fell when she saw Rarity and she closed the door in Rarity’s face. Rarity was surprised by that, “darling, please. Talk to me. I need to know what kind of dress you want for the gala”
Applejack replied inside the barn, “Forget me, Rarity. I’m not going to this gala anymore!”
Rarity was surprised, “but why not, dear? You even told me you were going to the prom to sell your apple food to the ponies”
“Yes, I said that. But I don’t want to go with you around”, said Applejack.
Rarity couldn’t believe Applejack was ignoring her, “so you won’t even go to the gala, darling?”
“No!” Applejack opened the barn door to say that before closing the door in her face. Rarity, teary-eyed, ran back home.
Arriving home, Rarity brought her back couch and lay down to cry. She didn’t know what to do to stop crying, “Of all the worst things that could happen, this is the worst possible thing!”
By the next day, Rarity’s friends wanted to see if the dresses were ready. And to their surprise, the dresses were not ready, because Rarity kept crying. She was eating a jar of ice cream while crying. Rainbow Dash went over to Rarity, “Are you seriously crying over what Applejack said to you?” asked Rainbow Dash, now annoyed.
Rarity looked at Rainbow Dash, “I’m sorry, darling. But what Applejack said hurt me”
Rainbow Dash looked still annoyed before shouting, “But how are we going to the gala without dresses?!”
“Calm down, Rainbow. She’s going through a rough time”, said Fluttershy.
Rainbow Dash looked at Fluttershy, “But with her being a drama queen, how are we going to the gala, Fluttershy?”
Fluttershy was speechless. She didn’t know what to say. Rainbow Dash sighed, “ok. Whatever it is, I don’t care anymore. Bye, Rarity”, said Rainbow Dash, before flying off to a window.
Rarity cried even more. Has Rainbow Dash stopped being your friend? If so, would the others stop being friends?
Fluttershy went to Rarity, “Don’t worry, Rarity. We won’t stop being your friends”, Fluttershy comforted.
Rarity tried to stop crying.
When the next day came, Rarity intended to make the dresses. After making the dresses, she intended to spend the rest of the afternoon at the Spa. She grabbed a paper and pen to start drawing what the dresses would look like. When she finished drawing, Rarity looked at the drawing that had a mare in a long butterfly dress next to her ear. She looked at the other drawing that was a cowboy drawing, Rarity didn’t know if she should throw it away because Applejack was no longer her friend, but she intended to do just in case Applejack changed her mind. Rarity looked at the last three designs: One was a design with a dress with a crown, another was a design of a dress with a design of candy, cakes, and balloons, and the last design was a rainbow design. She didn’t mean to do it in the order she drew, Rarity meant to leave her dress last because the unicorn always thought of her friends first.
After she finished making the dresses, she called all her friends. She just didn’t call Rainbow Dash and Applejack because they both denied going to Boutique Carrousel. So Rarity already saved the two dresses. Rarity heard the knock on the door. She went downstairs and opened the door. She was happy to see her friends, “dear ones! I’m glad you came! Your dresses are ready”, Rarity tried to ignore the fact that Applejack and Rainbow were not here. The only remaining ones that were her friends were Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie. She was going to do everything now to not lose her friends. Because if she lost, Rarity didn’t know what to do.
“It’s bad to know that two mares are no longer your friends just because they don’t understand you”, said Fluttershy, now sad.
“Yeah, Fluttershy,” agreed Pinkie Pie, before cheering up. “Hey! Hey! I have an idea! Let’s have a party after you show us the dresses!”
Rarity smiled, “It’s a good idea, Pinkie. But I plan to go to the Spa this afternoon”
Pinkie Pie looked sad about that, but soon cheered up, “okie dokie lookie”
“Come on, dear ones. I’ll show you both dresses”, said Rarity, before entering Boutique Carrousel.
When they went up to Rarity’s room. Rarity asked them to go to the bedroom with their eyes closed. Both did what Rarity asked. Arriving in the room, Rarity allowed them to open their eyes, “look, darlings”
Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie opened their eyes with a smile. They were surprised to see the dresses. Fluttershy’s dress was light green and had dark green butterfly designs, on the mannequin’s ear was a butterfly. In Pinkie Pie’s dress, it was pink and had designs of cakes, candies and balloons, “Did you like it, darlings?” asked Rarity with a hopeful smile.
“We don’t like it,” said Pinkie Pie. Rarity was surprised and sad at the same time, “… we love it!” Finished Pinkie Pie with a smile.
Rarity was happy, “Did you really like it, dears?”
“Of course, Rarity. You really know us”, replied Fluttershy with a smile. Rarity was happy with that. For a moment, she thought her friends wouldn’t like it. It would be unfair if they didn’t like it, because she did it especially for them.
It’s been a few days, and Pinkie and Fluttershy have continued to be friends with Rarity. While Applejack and Rainbow Dash, they didn’t leave their homes, but they did their jobs. The two mares wouldn’t go out to see Pinkie Fluttershy until Rarity was gone from their lives. Yeah. They were still bad with Rarity, and they didn’t mean to talk to Rarity.
Rarity was having tea with Fluttershy to talk about Applejack and Rainbow Dash, “Do you think they’ll forgive me, Fluttershy?” wanted to know Rarity.
“I’m sure Rarity. They just need some time to themselves”, replied Fluttershy with a smile before sipping some of the tea in her cup.
Rarity still seemed uncertain about that. She feared the two mares wouldn’t forgive her. Would they never forgive her? Because she was thinking so.
“Fluttershy darling, I plan on going to the Spa after finishing your tea. Want to go with me?” invited Rarity.
Fluttershy smiled, “of course Rarity”
After they had finished their tea, Rarity and Fluttershy were heading toward Justa until they saw a skin-colored ground mare in a sweatshirt and braces, the mare had a pink backpack. She was exhausted because she was so heavy. Rarity and Fluttershy looked at each other before going to help her, “need help?”
The mare was sweating tiredly and fell to the ground, “Yes. Please. It’s too heavy”, Rarity picked up the mare’s backpack with her magic and to her surprise it was really heavy, she didn’t know where the mare would live. .
“Where are you going to live?” asked Rarity.
“I’ll see with the mayor. Do you two know where she or he is?” said the mare.
“Sure. Ah. I’m sorry we didn’t introduce ourselves. My name is Fluttershy and my friend is Rarity. And yours?” said Fluttershy.
“My name is Mabel”, said Mabel before laughing.
“I think you would get along with Pinkie Pie”, said Fluttershy with a smile.
Mabel was confused, “who is Pinkie Pie?”
“She’s Ponyville’s most cheesy mare. She plan the best paties”, replied Fluttershy.
“I want to meet her. But first, could you show me where City Hall is?” said Mabel.
“Sure. Follow me”, replied Fluttershy before starting to walk. What they didn’t realize was that Rarity was already tired of holding Mabel’s backpack.
When they arrived at City Hall, Fluttershy went to talk to Mayor Mare. The mayor said Mabel could live in the Golden Oka’s Tree Library. Mabel wasn’t a library fan, but she liked having a home now. Rarity couldn’t take it anymore and fell to the floor tired, she was sweating.
Fluttershy and Mabel walked again without noticing that Rarity was tired. Rarity couldn’t take it anymore. She couldn’t wait to go to the spa to relax. At least Fluttershy would go with her.
Arriving at Golden Oka’s Tree Library, Fluttershy opened the door for Mabel to enter. Rarity came in, she was already tired. She couldn’t take it anymore. Mabel came in and marveled, “I’m not a fan of books, but this place is beautiful!” Mabel noticed that there was a staircase that led to the bedroom. She looked at Rarity, “Rarity, could you take my backpack to the bedroom?” Rarity just smiled, though inside she couldn’t take it anymore.
After Rarity had put her backpack in her room, Rarity intended to go to the Spa to relax. But as long as she held that backpack, it made her dizzy, her pressure dropped and she passed out.
When Rarity woke up, she realized she was in her room. She wondered who brought her here. Did it was Fluttershy?
“Finally you woke up”
Rarity recognized the voice. She glanced left and saw Rainbow Dash, “Rainbow…” Rarity was about to say thanks, but Rainbow interrupted her.
“... Why did you have to faint right where I was going?!” exclaimed Rainbow Dash. “Is this a trick of yours to me forgive you?!”
Rarity was sad, “no, darling”, she was going to explain why she passed out, but Rainbow cut her off.
“Whether or not I don’t care anymore. Fluttershy introduced me to a mare today and I plan to be the most amazing friend she’s ever had”
Rarity could feel the tears in her eyes. But what Rainbow Dash would say next would shock her, “... Because I don’t need a friend like you”, having said that, Rainbow Dash flew out the window.
Rarity began to cry again. Why were her friends being like this to her? It made no sense.
Over the days, Rarity’s friends began spending more time with Mabel. Mabel had a knack for sewing sweatshirts and making sculptures. Rarity felt excluded. Why were all her friends doing this? Why did your friends prefer Mabel over her? It wasn’t fair. Rarity began to think that even Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy would no longer be her friends. If so, what would she do?
And what Rarity thought came true. Pinkie Pie and Mabel spent a lot of time together because they were so similar, and Fluttershy always invited Mabel for tea. Although Mabel is not a tea fan, she enjoyed spending time with the animals. Especially with the pigs. And the others? Well, Rainbow Dash and Applejack left their homes to go out with Mabel, but whenever they saw Rarity, they ignored it. In short, none of her friends were with her. It was as if they saw Mabel as the new Rarity. Was Rarity being replaced? It couldn’t be. What more was to happen?
Suddenly the unicorn heard a knocking sound. Rarity opened the door and saw that it was Fluttershy with a picnic basket in her mouth, “Hi, darling”, said Rarity sadly.
Fluttershy didn’t seem to care because she was so excited, “hi, Rarity. Me and my friends are going on picnic”
“Can I go along?” asked Rarity, now with a smile
“I’m sorry. But Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie said they prefer Mabel to come with us”, replied Fluttershy.
“And you?” asked Rarity.
“I’m sorry. But I think you better stay home”, replied Fluttershy.
“But you all still see me as friends, right? You won’t replace me with Mabel, will you?” wanted to know Rarity.
“Oh. Of course not. Well, I better get going. Bye”
“Bye, darling”, Rarity closed the door. She really hoped that from tomorrow things would change.
Oh. How wrong she was. Rarity’s friends started spending a lot of time with Mabel. It even looked like they forgot about her. It was already night and Rarity was crying in her bed. She couldn’t believe she was forgotten. What would become of her now?
Suddenly a black shadow came through the window and grabbed Rarity slowly. As the unicorn was crying, she didn’t even realize she was being taken to the moon.
Rarity kept crying. But what she didn’t know was that she was being called.
“Rarity”
“Rarity”
But Rarity didn’t listen. The thing got angry.
“Rarity!!”
Rarity was startled by the scream, stopped crying, and looked startled. Where she was?
“W-where am I?” asked Rarity.
“You are in your future castle and where you are sitting is on your future throne, my future queen”, the thing answered with a smile.
Rarity didn’t know what it was, “who are you? What you are?”
“I am Shadowfright and I and the others are the nightmare forces”, introduced Shadowfright.
“I don’t understand, dear. Why am I here? What do you intend to do to me?” wanted to know Rarity.
“Simple. We brought you here because we realized how sad you were that your friends abandoned you and how beautiful you are. You would make a great queen”, replied Shadowfright.
“Yes. And we need a beautiful queen. Isn’t it, Larry?” said Jerone with a smile.
Shadowfright grabbed Jerone’s neck. He obviously didn’t like being called by his real name, “I mean, isn’t it, Shadowfright?”
Shadowfright approached Rarity, “Your generosity will save us. You should join us. You would be making a difference to us and you won’t need your friends”
Rarity didn’t know if she should accept, “no. My friends will save me”, denied Rarity.
“Really? Now that they have a friend who is much better for you than you?” asked Shadowfright. “Do you really think they know you’re here?”
Rarity began to remember the moments she was set aside. And for all the fault of that mare that arrived in Ponyville a month ago. She was sad about that. Although Rainbow Dash and Applejack didn’t really want to be friends with her anymore, while Pinkie and Fluttershy just walked away from her. She looked back at Shadowfright waiting for the answer, “so, my future queen? Do you accept?”
Rarity thought for a moment before making his decision, “yes. I accept”
A black shadow went to Rarity’s horn and clutched before entering the horn. Her eyes flashed blue and became slits. When the shadow completely entered the horn, Rarity’s mane grew longer, part of the mane turned white, her hair turned black, and her height increased. Now who was on the throne was no longer Rarity, but Nightmare Rarity. The nightmare forces bowed to the new queen.
