'So it's finally arrived, has it?' Nightmare Moon thought as she flew across the afternoon skies of Castalot. Everywhere she looked, she saw people adorning their houses with fake spider webs, plastic bats, jack-o'latnerns, and other such standard decorations that littered houses on Nightmare Night. A holiday she'd only become aware of upon her second defeat. 'To think that there's a whole holiday based around me. But that's not the best part. . . '

The best part, according to Nightmare Moon, was seeing all the children excitedly chattering about what costumes they were going to wear or how much candy they'd planned on getting. It made the dream goddess incredibly happy to know that something that brought joy to others came from her existence.

"Well, if they already think tonight's gonna be fun," Nightmare Moon thought out loud with a smirk as she flew back to her room at the castle and pulled a witch hat from a box. "Just wait until they see the treat I have planned. . . "

Night soon fell over the kingdom, and Nightmare Moon took a deep breath of the night air. Smiling, she spread her wings and flew off for Unityville. The last time she observed Nightmare Night, kids had left offerings of candy at a statue of her as a Nightmare Night tradition. Luna had taken the guise of her form to give them a playful scare. So what could be better than such a trick? Naturally, Nightmare Moon herself showing up. 

From the dark cover of the trees, Nightmare Moon watched the children being led by Zecora towards the statue. However, she noticed that quite a few of them looked a bit uncertain. 

'They're probably feeling a bit conflicted about this because they know I've been giving them all good dreams.' Nightmare Moon thought with a slightly saddened expression on her face. However, it was soon replaced by a mischievous smile. 'They want a fun little scare? Well then, I'll be happy to spook them a little. Besides, it'll play right into the treat I've got planned for the town.' 

Summoning a cloud of mist with her magic, Nightmare Moon watched in anticipation as the kids began to crowd around Zecora in confusion as to where the mist had come from. Seeing the opportune moment, Nightmare Moon flapped her wings and glided through the mist around the group!

"Well, well. What have we here?" Nightmare Moon called out with a smirk as the mist obscured her location. "What a collection of tasty little morsels I see. Oh! And it appears there's a few children out after dark as well." Nightmare Mooon landed on top of her statue, and dispelled the mist with a flap of her wings! The moonlight casting a silvery glow around her body as she held onto her witch's hat to keep it from blowing away! A mischievous smile on her face as she stared down at the group. "Quite the haul of candy you're offering me. Enough for me and my friends, in fact."

"F-Friends?" One of the children asked nervously.

"Oh yes." Nightmare Moon smiled as she snapped her fingers. A swarm of bats flapped about excitedly as they picked out pieces of candy! "They really love gummi worms. Me? I'm more of a chocolate lover myself. Now then. You've seen my tricks. Now for the treat!"

Nightmare Moon snapped her fingers, and teleported them all back to Unityville! The entire town was surprised to see the princess of dreams present, but quickly put together that the whole holiday they were celebrating was themed after her.

"What?" Nightmare Moon asked with a smile. "You wouldn't start the Summer Sun Celebration without Celestia? Why start Nightmare Night without me? We've seen tricks, gotten treats. Now it's time for the beats!" With a snap of her fingers, Nightmare Moon summoned a DJ table and Vinyl Scratch!

"Now let's liven up this graveyard of a dancefloor!" Nightmare Moon cheered as she used her magic to create fireworks of various images related to the holiday! "Happy Nightmare Night!" And with that, the party raged on until the break of day! Nightmare Moon yawning as she teleported back to the castle. "Best. Night. Ever." And with that, the dream goddess fell into a peaceful slumber. 

"Can't wait until next year. . . "
