Spike's Other Pen Pals

Catching Up Letters

Spike was on his desk as he was finishing another letter to Gabby about how he has been doing. When Spike was done, he rolled up the scroll and blew fire to send it to Gabby.
"Whew!" Spike said as he stretched his arms from all of his writing. "That takes care of Gabby's reply." Spike looked around the room to see if he had anything else to do for the rest of his morning. All of his Power Ponies comics were nearly organized and all have been read. His supply of gems for snacking were all inside a large bucket he keeps next to his bed in case if he wants a midnight snack. Spike's room was pretty much clean and nothing was needed to be organized.
"Looks like I'm all out of chores for the morning." Spike said to himself. Spike then noticed all of the leftover scroll paper that was neatly stacked on the side of his desk. Spike suddenly came up with an idea on how to use the scrolls.
'It's been a while since I heard from my other friends.' Spike thought as he picked up the quill. 'Let's find out how they have been doing!' Spike began writing a letter to Ember.

Dear Ember,
How are things in the Dragon Lands? I just wanted to write to find out if you were making more progress with being the Dragon Lord. Everything is great on my end! Twilight is gonna rule Equestria and I couldn't be any more proud of her. Although there were a few times she starts 'Twilighting' (it's a term that her friends and I use when Twilight freaks out), she was able to pull through with flying colors! You were probably in Twilight's hoof-steps when you began ruling as the new Dragon Lord. Twilight could learn a thing or two from you about ruling a kingdom (heh heh). You probably get a lot of letters from Smolder about her time at the School of Friendship. I just want to confirm that whatever Smolder writes about, it is true if it involves having a great time during the new semester. I was surprised that she left the Dragon Lands without your permission during the summer. Reminds me of a 'certain dragon' I know who went against her father's wishes and took part in the Gauntlet of Fire. You must also get a lot of letters from Thorax since you guys are friends now. I too get a lot of letters from him and the changelings are doing good as well! That is all I have to write about. I hope you respond as soon as you can!

Sincerely,
Spike

When Spike was done, he rolled up the scroll and blew fire to send it to Ember. Spike tapped the feather on his chin as he was thinking.
"Who should I write to next?" Spike asked himself until he thought of somepony. "I know! Moon Dancer!" Spike began writing the letter.

Dear Moon Dancer,
Long time no see! I just wanted to write to you to find out how you have been doing in Canterlot! I'm sorry Twilight and I weren't able to catch up with you when we saw you at the Tasty Treat. I couldn't resist helping those mares with their orders as I tend to assist ponies. Twilight wasn't able to catch up with you because she was dealing with something 'urgent'. Don't bring this up to her, but she forgot to return a library book and she thought she got Dusty Pages fired from the Canterlot Library. As it turns out, Dusty retired because she thought she was wasting time at that library and wanted to try new things. Dusty also taught Twilight a lesson about not everything needs to be perfect. At the end, Twilight was able to keep the book and had her picture removed from the Canterlot Library for Best Book Borrower. Anyway, how are things with Minuette, Lemon Heart, and Twinkle Shine? I bet you got to do many things outside your comfort zone. That is what happens when you have friends, they tend to get you to experience new things that you never thought of doing before. Twilight had a lot of experiences of that when she met our friends in Ponyville. Feel free to respond as soon as you can!

Sincerely,
Spike

Spike sent the letter through his fire breath to Moon Dancer.
"Alright, who should be next?" Spike asked himself. He then remembered one pony Rainbow introduced to him as she thought both of them would get along really well. Spike began writing another letter.

Dear Quibble Pants,
It's Spike! I'm writing to check up on my fellow Power Ponies and O&O loving friend. I have been good as I got finish reading the latest issues of the Power Ponies comics. I really hope that the Power Ponies are able to take down Coltron! I really wish you would come to Ponyville to hang out with me, Big Mac, and Discord. We have a blast from every one of our guys' nights thanks to Discord making O&O real. I've been working on a special campaign for when you have a chance to be part of our guys' night. When Rainbow told me about your adventure with her and Daring Do, I couldn't help but get started on the dungeon's graph papers! How are things with you, Clear Skies, and Wind Sprint? It must be sort of difficult when being part of a family that you weren't a part of at the start. Take me for example, I was raised by ponies and there were times I felt out of place. I bet that you're getting along well with Wind Sprint even though you two have your differences. I hope you reply very soon!

Sincerely,
Spike

Spike once again sent another letter by fire breath. He stretched his arms a second time to make some movements.
"Maybe one last letter for the day." Spike said. "But to who?" Spike noticed one of the books on the shelf was a copy of Me and My Shadow written by Stygian. He immediately picked up his quill and began writing.

Dear Stygian,
This is Spike the Dragon. I'm not sure if you remembered me as I was the only dragon you have seen while you were the Pony of Shadow. I wanted to write to you to find out how you have been doing. I'm guessing you're doing well judging from how well your books are selling. I have read Me and My Shadow and I thought it was pretty great! Please don't tell Twilight that! Anyway, I liked the parts where you mentioned the times you felt useless around the Pillars even though you have brought them together. I so related to that as I often felt useless when I'm with Twilight and our friends. That wasn't always the case as there were times when my actions had helped them and they all valued me as an important member in their group. I'm sorry if it made you feel a little down as that never happened to you. I'm glad that Star Swirl and the rest of the Pillars have apologized to you and once again acknowledge you as a valuable friend. I hope that one day you will stand by the Pillars and help them in battle. Keep up the good writing and whatever else you do!

With the last letter being sent through fire breath, Spike decided to put down his quill and leave his room to continue with his day.
