It was a nice bright sunny day when Starlight realised it, the moment she realised she was in love with her best friend Trixie, they had been at a small clearing out in the woods having a picnic when Trixie started laughing at a funny story Starlight had told her and that's when Starlight realised, she was in love with the cyan mare, that's when she began to panic although she tried to hide it from her companion, the sliver haired pony knew something was up but rather then bring it up Trixie decided not to she wanted to enjoy a relaxing day with her friend after all,Inside Starlight was freaking out her and Trixie had been besties for awhile now and she had never felt different towards the other mare before, oh what was she going to do?, Wait Twilight maybe able to help after all she was one of the smartest ponies Starlight knew, She must have some type of solution .... Right?.
Starlight made her way to Twi's Castle,"Hey Twilight Um I need to talk to you about something" She said calling out, looking around she walked into one of the many rooms in the shiny castle, "oh hey Spike" she said seeing the small dragon rearraging some books for Twilight," Is Twilight around?" She added.
" Oh hey Starlight, No Twilight went to babysit Flurry Heart for Shining Armour and Princess Cadence as their celebrating their 6 year Aniversary" Spike Said, Turning around he faced Starlight as she Responded.
"Oh right I forgot about that" Starlight commented.
"Well hey I know I'm not Twilight but I could still help if you need it" Spike said with a kind smile.
" No thanks spike sorry it's just more something I need Twilight for" Starlight said apologetically giving the dragon an affectionate pat on the head.
"It's okay I'm here if you change your mind" The little dragon Mentioned as a reminder, Starlight thanked Spike once again before leaving.
Realising She was a bit hungry as she had barely touched anything at the picnic with Trixie, She stopped by Ponyville Café to eat she decided for a simple daffodil and daisy sandwich,she ordered and sat down outside, luckily it was a nice sunny morning, however she quickly changed her mind once she saw Trixie coming over to her table, as quick as a whip as Granny Smith would say she downed her sandwich and put her bits on the table, she then left quickly,going back to Twilight's castle, she hid in her bedroom,Oh Sweet Sweet Celestia what in all of Ponyville was she to do?,Sighing she knew she couldn't stay locked up in her room forever, She then suddenly had a revelation, She could probably find an answer in one of Twilight's Many, Many Books, after all The Other Pony did have quite the library and if not she could teleport herself to canterlot to look through theirs.
Meanwhile with Trixie:
What in Celestia's Name was going on all morning?, Trixie had tried to Find her Unicorn best friend, but had come up empty, not only that but it seemed like Starlight was... Avoiding Her, but that couldn't possibly be the truth... Or could it?,No! Trixie said to herself internally it couldn't be Starlight wasn't like that she would never, she was probably just busy with one of her other friends or doing friendship bussiness, Yes Yes that was probably it, Trixie said ending her worrisome thought but that did not stop the Magician from nibbling worriedly at her Hay Fries.
Starlight was up on the ladder Spike had gone off somewhere, she was looking at every romance book title she could see, she had found a couple books relating to Lesbianism but reading through them she didn't think they had any use to her, then all of a sudden she remembered that their were two close pony friends who definitely seemed more then just good friends, Lyra and Bon-Bon always did seem like they had something going on and so Starlight set off to find the two mares, they were always with each other so it wouldn't be hard to find them, she looked around the streets of ponyville for a few minutes before eventually finding the two mares sitting together of course, Ironically they were at the Cafe she was at just eariler that day.
"Um hey sorry to bother you but I was wondering if I could talk to you about something" Starlight said, The two mares looked up from their lunch.
"Of course sure thing" repiled Sweet Bon-Bon.
" Uh Yeah what she said" said Lyra glancing at Starlight.
" Thanks" Starlight thanked them, The three ponies went to Lyra & Bon-Bons house, Sitting down with the two, Starlight said " Um Well I'm not trying to assume or anything but are the two of you ... together I mean are you Marefriends?" Starlight questioned.
" Are we that transparent?" asked Bon-Bon looking at Starlight while holding Lyra's Light green hoof.
" Honestly Yeah" said Starlight looking at the two sheepishly.
"Which brings me to why I'm here, you see I have been friends with this Mare for quite awhile now and I had never previously thought of her in a romantic sense until one day we had our annual picnic and I felt different about her, so Um I guess what I'm asking is What do I do?" Starlight Rambled, taking a moment to process, the couple looked at each other before eventually Bon-Bon said.
"Well you should definitely talk to her about this, I know your scared, worried you might mess up your friendship, but you never know until you try,sometimes you're quite lucky The cream-coloured mare said nuzzling against Lyra who blushed, Starlight looked at the display feeling her heart melt at the cuteness presented in front of her, thanking the two for their help she left the two in peace, the two sighed, "I remember when we were like that" Said Bon-Bon to her Marefriend.
"Yep" Said Lyra in Responce kissing her Cheek.
Starlight was walking to the river she sat down to have a bit of a think, thinking about Bon-Bon's words, she made up her mind she was going to tell Trixie how she felt.
