The Door

Twilight was walking to the library when the door appeared to her. It was on the side of the corridor, embedded in the wall as usual. She saw it just as she turned the corner. And it stayed there as she walked along the corridor.
It almost felt like it was watching her. Making fun of her. Daring her to try to open it. She had no intention of playing that stupid game.
She rounded another corner. The door was there again, waiting.
In every corridor she visited. In every hallway she passed through. The door was there. Staring in silence, judging her.
Twilight reached the library. Its door wasn't there, and the door was in its place. She stopped and stared at it, swallowing. Then, slowly, she turned and walked away.
