Applejack grinned widely as she folded and put away the last box. Two full days of unpacking and moving, finally finished!
"Oh, my," Fluttershy said as she entered the living room.
She had already seen the brown hardwood floor and forest green walls, but to see it fully furnished was something else entirely!
The animal caretaker glanced around, making note of the entertainment center, the bookshelves, and furniture.
Her heart skipped a beat as she noticed photos of herself and Applejack, along with their friends.
"It's perfect, dear," Fluttershy said, then wrapped her arms around her and gave her a passionate kiss.
The farm girl closed her eyes and buried her hands in her girlfriend's hair with a sigh of contentment as their tongues battled with each other. The kiss went on until Fluttershy let out a soft moan, a sound Applejack never got tired of hearing.
Feeling mischievous, the farm girl removed her hands from her girlfriend's hair, then grabbed her butt. Fluttershy let out an adorable squeak, and Applejack giggled in her mouth, then broke the kiss. "That's just a lil' preview for tonight," she said with half-lidded eyes.
"I can't wait, Apples," Fluttershy said huskily. "Because tonight, I don't simply want us to break in the bed..." she leaned into her girlfriend, then whispered. "I just want us to break it." She then nibbled on Applejack's weak spot: her ear.
The farm girl let out something of a cross between a yelp and a moan, then took her hat off and fanned herself with it. "Land sakes, hon. Save that friskiness for later! The girls are comin' over soon for the housewarming party."
Fluttershy giggled, then smiled warmly as the two stared at each other dreamily.
Fluttershy and Applejack had met at Canterlot High's Freshman Fair, along with Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie. Later on, Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle would become part of the group.
It was fairly common knowledge to the student body that the two were lesbians, but they didn't become a couple until that fateful week at Camp Everfree. Their common bonds of passion for animals, the great outdoors and trust in others led to many a nature walk together. Near the end of the week, they started dating after an intense makeout session in the Aquamarine tent. It was only after Rainbow Dash had walked in on them that Fluttershy decided to have an animal friend alert them when someone was nearby.
Since then, Fluttershy and Applejack had been inseparable. After a couple of years of dating, they finally moved in together. Their new house was in the country. Free of all the noise of the city and suburbs, and an ideal place for animals to stop for care or company.
"I love you," Fluttershy said softly.
"I love you too, 'Shy." The couple pecked each other on the lips. "Wanna come outside and get some fresh air?"
"Yes. It feels like we've been cooped up inside here all day!" Fluttershy took Applejack by the hands and laced their fingers together, then went out to the backyard.
Their backyard was spacious. A light brown hammock was tied to two trees a few feet away from the porch. The sun shone down on the lawn as a light summer breeze blew.
Applejack took a deep breath, then exhaled with a happy sigh. "Aaahh, nothin' like some good old-fashioned country air... right, love?"
Fluttershy leaned into the farm girl. "Yeah," she said dreamily. "Can we cuddle on the hammock until the others get here?"
"Well I sure didn't hang it over there for sex," Applejack said with a grin, causing her girlfriend to giggle.
The two walked over to the trees, and Fluttershy got on first. Applejack got in second, and the pair then gazed at each other as she laid down. The farm girl then laid her head on the animal caretaker's shoulder and pecked her on the neck.
Fluttershy caressed Applejack's cheek, and the farm girl closed her eyes at her touch.
"Oh!"
Applejack opened her eyes. "Something wrong, hon?"
Fluttershy giggled sheepishly. "I almost forgot..." She channeled her geode, and within moments a bird flew towards them, then landed on the animal caretaker's finger. "Buford, would you be so kind as to alert us when our friends are nearby?"
The bird nodded, then flew off.
Before making their move in official, Fluttershy had familiarized herself with all the local fauna in order to get to know them by name and personality.
Applejack chuckled. "I'm a bit jealous of you, 'Shy."
"Oh? Why's that?"
"You can talk to animals. What I wouldn't give to be able to pick a cow's brain..."
Fluttershy smiled warmly and ran a hand through Applejack's hair. "There's no need to be jealous, Apples. Anyone can see you have a good rapport with animals. After all, you've had more experience with them than even I have!"
The farm girl blushed. "Well, I've been living on a farm my whole life. I know how some animals work, but you? You have first-hand knowledge of individual animals!" She paused. "...that's just one of the many things I love about you." She grabbed Fluttershy's hand and kissed it. "I mean, you're beautiful, you're kind..." Applejack laughed. "Look at me, going on the same way I did when we started going out."
The animal caretaker scooted down, her face next to the farm girl's. "Well, you're beautiful too," she said. "Your inner and outer strength are amazing, and those make me love you more and more each day."
Applejack pressed her lips against Fluttershy's, and a deep and passionate kiss followed. Sighs of contentment filled the air as another light breeze blew. Their tongues danced and thrashed until a bird's chirp caught their attention, followed by unmistakable sounds: a squeaking noise and a slide whistle.
Applejack broke the kiss and got off the hammock. "Welp, they're here."
"You go on ahead. I'll thank Buford for his help."
Applejack nodded, then went inside.
Fluttershy sighed as she watch her girlfriend walk away, then close the door. She reached into one of her pockets and pulled out a tiny purple box. She opened it up and gazed at a sterling silver ring with leaf-shaped diamonds. "Someday soon, Apples..." The animal caretaker closed it and put it back in her pocket. "Someday soon..."
With that, Fluttershy walked back to the house and went inside to greet her friends.
