Time passed on, and it was nearing Hearth's Warming time. Nathan and Mavis were sent to Ponyville to stay with Twilight and them, while Cadence was going over some things with her aunts. She was sitting with the other girls at the spa, having her hair done, "I'm jealous Mavis. Your hair is so silky and soft," Kelly commented, as the spa ponies washed Mavis' hair.
"Ah, oui. Mon masters have shared with me their secrets of having luxurious hair," Mavis replied, as they went into the sauna next.
"Your teachers are the Nymphs we've heard about, right?" Melody asked.
"Oui. They even made me a Nymph too. That way, as they said, I would grow up to have a body just like them," Mavis
replied, as they left the sauna, and got changed.
"I'd sure like to meet them," Trinity commented.
"And you will. Maman has invited them to attend this Hearths Warming Ball," Mavis replied, as they left the spa.
"Not to sound rude, but you'll be glad that Hearth's Warming doesn't fall on a week of the Full Moon, so you don't have to worry about that," Charity added.
"That is a relief. I wouldn't want to cause a panic," Mavis replied.
"Yeah. If what Raiden told Mommy was true, Werewolves could be seen more like monsters by the snobbish nobles of Canterlot," Crystal commented.
"Well, we're only dangerous if we haven't had enough time to adjust to our beast forms. The same goes for Werecats. Wererabbits, not quite," Mavis replied, as the entered Sugarcube Corner. They all placed an order for some chocolate chip cookies.
"Is it really ok for you to eat chocolate?" Season asked.
"Oui, as long as I am in human form. If I am in my werewolf form, then chocolate can give me a tummy ache," Mavis replied.
"I guess that makes sense. Chocolate can be quite venomous to any creature of the canine family. It can either be fatal, or make them very sick," Trinity replied, as Pinkie Pie came over with their cookies.
"There ya go! One batch of chocolatey chocolate chip cookies!" Pinkie said, as she went back to the counter. The girls then began eating the cookies.
"I'm glad you've come this far Mavis. When we all first met you, you wouldn't even look at sweets. But now look at you! You're eating cookies like the rest of us!" Vibrant commented. Just then, the Boy Band, Equestrian Mayhem, came in.
"Ok, I think that'll do for today's practice," Josh commented. His bandmates agreed.
"Hey guys. You got your songs picked out for the ball?" Kelly asked.
"Yep. We're goin' ta put on the best show Canterlot's ever seen," Nathan replied.
"They have a band?" Mavis asked.
"Yeah, they're Equestria's hottest new Boy Band. Only difference between them and other boy bands is that these guys are actually talented," Melody commented. MLG air horns sounded, as sunglasses fell down onto her face.
"So savage," Conner commented.
Later that night,
Twilight had shown Mavis to her room. However, since it was a Full Moon Night, she gave Mavis a bedroom on the inside, so that way she wouldn't transform. To help ensure she would get to sleep easier, she took one of the sedatives that Raiden gave her. It appeared to work almost instantly, as she felt herself getting drowsier. She was thankfully able to make into bed before the full effect took hold. She was able to sleep for about three or four hours before she had to go to the bathroom. Unfortunately, her room did not have it's own bathroom, so she had to venture out into the castle to find one. She was able to find one, however, the one thing she didn't notice was that it was a bathroom that had a window to the outside, and the Moon was out. After she was done washing her hands, she made the mistake of looking out the window, and seeing the moon. She screamed in pain, and fell out of the bathroom, writhing in agony, as the transformation took hold of her. Once she was finished, she let out a howl, that echoed throughout the castle, waking up the others.
"Oh no," Nathan said, as he bolted out of the room, with Josh in tow, a baseball bat in his hands.
"Was that howl Mavis?" Josh asked.
"Yeah. We need to git her under control before she attacks someone," Nathan replied, as they rounded a corner, only to bump into Twilight, Cory, and the other girls, "Ah'm guessin' y'all heard that howl too, right?" Nathan asked.
"We did. Was that Mavis?" Kelly asked.
"Yep. She must've seen the moon," Nathan replied.
"But how? I gave her a room with no outside window!" Twilight said.
"Maybe she had to go to the bathroom and saw the moon from a window?" Clover theorized. Twilight then slapped herself in the face.
"Of course! Mavis' room didn't have a bathroom!" Twilight groaned. A growling sound was then heard, "Hey don't blame me! I didn't anticipate this to happen!" she scolded.
"But, none of us growled," Nyx replied. It then occurred to them where the growling was coming from. Turning, they saw Mavis, transformed, on all fours, in a stance that made them assume she was going to pounce on them. She was also heard to be growling.
"Uh, Mavis? It's us! Your friends?" Nathan said in a questioning manner. This made Mavis pounce on him. She was about to start eating him, when he move the bat in front of her teeth. She growled and struggled, trying to move the bat out of the way, "Mavis knock it off! Ya mustn't give into your animal instincts!" Nathan yelled, only to get more ferocious growling, and more struggling, "Dang it girl, AH SAID CUT IT OUT!" everyone winced as Nathan's fist collided with the top of Mavis' head, leaving a massive crater in the wall, and a bump the size of a grapefruit on the top of her head.
A little later, Mavis was seated in front of everyone, anime tears rolling down her cheeks, and the bump still on her head, "I'm sorry for causing so much trouble," Mavis said.
"It's quite alright Mavis. We understand you were just acting on instinct," Twilight comforted.
"But did you say you were getting better at controlling your werewolf form with the Nymphs?" Charity asked.
"Maybe it's because I spend so much time there that I got used to their scents," Mavis theorized.
"That would make sense. Animals have a stronger sense of smell than humans or ponies. Maybe werewolves have that same sense of smell," Trinity theorized.
"Oui. There are quite a few.... unfamiliar scents in this castle alone. Lilacs, chocolate, even papaya," Mavis replied.
"Well, in any case, we should all get to bed. That goes for you too, Mavis," Twilight said, as everyone went back to their rooms. She took the liberty of escorting Mavis back to her room personally, "Try to get some sleep, ok sweetie?" Mavis nodded, as Twilight left her alone in her room.
