Chapter 4

Blaze had only a few hours to get his stuff together. He tried his hardest to stay on the ground and out of the air. It was frustrating for him to be earthbound. He wanted to soar in the sky. But he had to wait until it got dark enough so he could fly over the supply route, drop the bomb, and get out of there. “If only magic could heal my wing the way it did my leg.” Blaze said to himself. He would really have liked to have slept a few more hours, but he was needed for tonight’s plan to work. He needed to create a giant bomb to block off the supply route. As soon as it went off, he needed to get out of there. The problem will be if he can fly faster than the guards with his injured wing. He may need to get some extra ponies to fly with him. They would need to kill the guards who would follow him after the explosion.

Luna had given him a communicuff for him to wear so he could relay information back to her. He had wore one before, but after being confined for so long, it reminded him of the cuffs he had to wear while in the prison. But he had to wear it. For the mission. “Luna. Would it be all right if I brought two other ponies to the supply route? I may need them to kill some guards that may follow me after the explosion.” Blaze said speaking into the communicuff.

“I’ll ask Linus. He may be able to spare a few of his assassins to help you out.” He heard Luna reply through the cuff.

“Ok. Thanks.” He knew if Linus trained them, that they would be more than capable of a few guards flying in the air. Time to start building that bomb. I’m glad to have my tools back. They make much better explosives than alkali metals and water. Blaze thought as he rummaged through his stash of explosive devices. He had just started getting everything put together, when the alarm sounded.

A loud ringing noise went out through the camp. They were under attack. He grabbed his gloves and ran to a chest on the other side of the tent. He always had a few gas bombs ready in case of an emergency. Looks like this was one of those emergencies. “Linus! Where are they coming from?” Blaze asked Linus through the communicuff.

“Everywhere! They have us surrounded! We need all of our resources to protect Luna!” Linus shouted through the cuff.

“I’m headed over to her tent now!” Blaze replied. He flew towards the center of the camp. As he approached he met three Leasath soldiers. They charged at him with their full force. Blaze easily dodged the three soldiers and turned on his heels and slammed his hooves into the necks of the soldiers. They crashed to the ground as Blaze made a quick turnaround towards Luna’s tent. He arrived and saw 30 Leasath soldiers surrounding the tent. He threw a gas bomb at the soldiers. There was huge puff of purple gas. The soldiers were keeling over as they inhaled the toxic gas. They tried to run into the tent, but at the slightest move, their bodies imploded. The gas was deadly if inhaled within five seconds of detonation. The few who didn’t inhale when the bomb went off, were killed by darts before they realized that their fellow soldiers had died.

Blaze waited 10 more seconds to breathe. The gas wasn’t deadly anymore, but the side effects of the gas were terrible. He rushed into the tent and saw a wounded Luna. “Luna! Where are you hurt at?” Blaze asked. He surveyed the room. There was a lot of blood.

“I got hit by a magic bolt. He pierced my right leg. I can’t heal this like a healed your leg. This is going to take a special kind of treatment.” Luna said as she sat through the pain.

“What happened to the Gorner?” Blaze asked. A Gorner was a special kind of unicorn. They were touched by a dark magic. It was a mystery as to how they came into being.

“Blaze, don’t even try to fight him. He is way too powerful for a regular Pegasus as yourself.” Luna said.

“Luna with all respect, I can’t let a murderous Gorner run around and start killing all of our soldiers!” Blaze yelled.

“Blaze. You will not go out and fight a battle with a Gorner. That’s an order.” Luna said in an authoritative voice. Blaze knew he couldn’t disobey a direct order from Luna. He groaned in frustration. “I have a different job for you though. It would do more good for us if you could find Linus and take him up to Auroa Mountain. There’s a barrel of highly disorienting gas attached to a tube in the ground. I have given every pony in the army a gas mask. It will protect them from it. You were imprisoned when I handed them out. Here, you can have mine.” Luna said, handing Blaze a mask. “I can create a bubble here that will keep the gas out. Linus has one already. Now go. There isn’t time to waste. Go!” Luna ordered.

Blaze rushed out of the tent and took flight. He found Linus. He was battling five Leasath soldiers on his own. Blaze flew down, and kicked one of them in their back. “Took you long enough to find me!” Linus shouted.

“Yea, well we got direct orders from Princess Luna to get to Auroa Mountain. Do you know what’s up there?” Blaze asked Linus while punching a soldier in his face.

“Yea I know. Let’s go then!” Linus said as he threw four stars at the remaining soldiers, hitting them straight in the eyes.

“Hold on!” Blaze said. Linus grabbed onto Blaze’s back as he launched them into the air. Blaze was having difficulty carrying them both with his injured wing. He kept pushing towards the mountain. When they arrived Blaze could barely stand. “Linus. Turn the valve. The gas needs to get through the tube and into the camp.” Blaze said weakly. Linus had quickly moved over to the barrel. He turned the valve three times to the right. The gas passed through the tube and out of cracks in the valve.

“Blaze! Your mask! Put it on!” Linus yelled at Blaze. “Yea. Right.” Blaze started to put his mask on, but it had a hole in a key filtration section. “Linus! My mask! It’s been sabotaged!” Blaze yelled. “I can fly out of here but I don’t know how far away I can go before I have to rest, and I don’t know how fast the gas travels outside the tube.

Blaze took off and flew in the opposite direction of the mountain. He flew as fast as he could. He knew a place where he could hide for a few hours. But it was very close to Camp ‘A’ but it was all he had at that moment
