//------------------------------// // Part 1: Proposal, Pretenses, Preparation // Story: Spike x Rarity: Las Pegasus Wedding (Garbage Fic) // by DakariKingMykan //------------------------------// The little dragon walked down the pathway, side-by-side with the pony he loved. They had just come from dinner and seeing a romantic theatrical play. This was not the first time they had gone out either. They had gone on many dates, and each one was more romantic than the last, and Spike could hardly believe Rarity actually conceded into a relationship with him. …Then again, why wouldn’t she? He was always there for her. Always willing to lend a hand and always defending her when others tried to put her down or say mean things to her. Rarity also confessed she was willing to give it a try mainly due to the fact that all stallions she ever crushed on either didn’t reciprocate her feelings, or proved to be not her type at all. Never had she thought Spike would be so wonderful to her. He was a wonderful friend, an excellent helper, and just the sweetest and most caring creature she had ever known. They stopped by the pond, and just sat on the grass. Spike had spread out a neat blanket from his knapsack as a mat for Rarity to sit in so she wouldn’t get dirty. “Thank you, Spike.” she said sweetly to him. Spike smiled loving up at her, “Sure, anything for you Rarity.” They sat together, listening to the sounds of the night, watching the fireflies flicker, and looking up at the stars. Rarity noticed Spike seemed a little nervous about something. “Are you right?” Spike put down his knapsack and felt inside one of the pockets for something-- a very special he something had brought for a good reason that night, but his insides were going crazy. He felt like he was on fire inside, and could barely find words to say. “Spike?” He nervous turned to face her, “Um… well… you see…” he paused and was sweating bullets. Rarity was starting to read all the signs, and she felt her insides melting, but it became obvious that Spike was all going to pieces. “…Rarity, there’s something I need to tell you, or… rather ask you.” Before he could say another thing, Rarity had put her hoof to his mouth hushing him. “I also have something I wish to say to you, if you don’t mind.” Naturally, Spike didn’t mind and let her go first. “What is it?” Rarity took in a huge breath and let it out slowly, before giving Spike her most loving stare ever. “Spike, I know how you feel about me, and I feel the same way about you too.” Spike smiled, but then he began to have a sick feeling in his stomach. “… Of course, I am a pony and you are a baby dragon, though you are no more than five years younger than I in natural years.” The sickening continued, and Spike began to worry this was going to end terrible, but then that was all dashed when Rarity levitated a very small box out from her saddle-bag. “But… Spike,” she said with tears of happiness forming in her eyes “… I don’t care about the difference in our species, and I don’t mind if you are younger than I—again, only by a few short years. …I love you, Spikey Wikey. You truly make me happy.” Spike felt himself melting again, in a very delightful way. “You’re always there for me, and you’re a wonderful helper and everything else. I want… I want you to stay with me, Spike. I want to wake up and see you by my side. I want to share every meal of the day with you, and do many more things together with you.” She then used her magic to open the little box before him, revealing a small blue diamond on a golden band about the size of Spike’s claw. Spike gawked at the little gem, not because it looked delicious to him, but because of what Rarity was about to say next. “…So I must ask. …Spikey-Wikey, will you marry me?” Spike never felt so warm and cozy in his life, and his heart was racing a hundred miles a minute. He had almost completely forgotten where he was and what he had just been asked, and saw that Rarity was desperately waiting for his answer. He smiled and then reached into his knapsack and pulled out yet another small box, opening it to reveal a golden ring with a miniature heart-shaped red fire ruby on it. “…Only if you’ll marry me too” The two then began to giggle with each other, and then their faces moved in closer to one another, and they both said at the same time. “Yes… I will… …I love you.” …Followed by Rarity softly tackling him to the ground and locking her lips to his. “Oh, I love you, Rarity!” Spike said as he continued to kiss her. “I love you too, Spkey-Wikey!” Naturally, they found strength to separate from the embrace, because they just had to tell the others immediately, and Rarity had to tell her family at once. “You’re getting married?!” cried Fluttershy. “AAAH!” shrieked Pinkie Pie “This is so romantic. Oh, I’m think I’m going to cry.” “It’s about time too.” said Rainbow. This earned her an angry glare from Applejack, “I think what she means is, “Congratulations.” Twilight couldn’t be happier for Spike and Rarity, and hugged them both. “This is incredible. Not just the fact that you two are going to be-- but a pony and a dragon, it’s like the perfect way to demonstrate more than just friendship and understanding of the difference of two creatures. Think of the great impact this could have over all of Equestria.” Spike and Rarity didn’t seem to care too much for that. They just wanted to be happy together, plus, Rarity still had to tell her family. Hondo Flanks and Cookie Crumbles were beyond words of surprise, while Sweetie Belle was leaping with joy and excitement singing, “My sister’s getting married! My sister’s getting married!” Spike and Rarity felt a little embarrassed, but Rarity’s folks did get over the initial shock. “Welcome to our family, son.” Hondo said while patting Spike’s head. His wife pecked him on the head, “Although I must say, I had high hopes, but I never thought Rarity would ever marry a dragon, and a little one at that.” “Mother…!” snapped Rarity. “Eh, what I mean is, I’m sure you’ll be happy together.” Sweetie Belle couldn’t stop leaping with excitement. The very thought that Spike was going to be her brother-in-law was beyond words. “Think of all the great things we can do together-- we can play dress-up, we can play marbles any time, or go to the playground.” Spike rubbed the back of his head nervously, and Rarity calmed her sister down. “Spike is going to be part of the family, but there’s no need to put all this pressure on him.” “It’s okay.” Spike cut in “To be honest, it’ll be nice to have a family of my own. Please don’t tell Twilight I said that.” Rarity just pecked him on the head, understanding what he meant and promising not to say a thing. “So when’s the wedding going to be?” asked Sweetie Belle. Rarity and Spike didn’t know if they could answer. “You can’t think of a day?” “It’s not that, Sweetie,” said Rairty “It’s just that, Spike and I are unsure of having a really big ceremony, and I can’t believe I’m saying that!” True to her own, Rarity had always envisioned her wedding day as something extravagant and eloquent. She’d be walking down a long red carpet, wearing the most beautiful gown of white with golden ruffled edgings, and in a church with stained glass windows and chandeliers above. The hall would be lined with lovely flowers, and candles would be lit up, and a choir would sing as she walked down the path and up the stairs to meet her groom. She sighed heavenly and almost went into a lost daze. “Um, Rarity…?” Spike said. She snapped out of the trance. “The point is, Spike well, he isn’t a pony.” Spike looked up at her, but agreed because he felt the same way, “We’re not sure all of Equestria is ready for a move like this-- a dragon marrying a pony. How do you think they’ll react?” The family knew they were accepting of it, but they realized the couple had a good point. Many ponies would probably not be willing to accept the marriage or even think highly of it. The dragons, they knew, would never approve of this. Spike hastened to think if any other dragon heard about the news. It was bad enough many of them still made fun of him for living amongst the ponies, but marry one?! They come and maybe roast him to ashes. “I don’t know how we can pull off a wedding without causing too much attention.” said Spike. Rarity agreed. “Why don’t you get married in Las Pegasus?” suggested Hondo “That’s where your mother and I were married.” His wife agreed, but Rarity and Sweetie were shocked to hear this. “You got married in Las Pegasus?” asked Sweetie. Cookie nodded, “We didn’t have too much money way back then, but ooh… we were so in love we couldn’t wait to plan a really big wedding. We just wanted to be together so much that we just hurried it along and got married at the first available chapel we could find.” Hondo agreed, “No fancy dress, no church, no wedding feast, but just us. It may have seemed small, but your mother and I felt on top of the world.” The parents snuggled happily together, and Rarity and Spike found that to be touching. “Maybe we could do that,” Spike suggested “It wouldn’t cause that much attention, and we could invite Twilight and the others, and then have a huge feast at a buffet.” Rarity thought it over deeply, and while she really didn’t like the idea of having to let go of her extravagant dream wedding, looking down at her beloved soon-to-be husband whom she loved to pieces, she nodded lovingly at him, and he smiled up at her. “This weekend…” Rarity stated “We get married in Las Pegasus.” Spike agreed, and just as the moved in to share a kiss, Sweetie jumped in between them singing, “We’re going to have a wedding! We’re going to have a wedding!” Spike and Rarity giggled nervously. So word was spread only to their friends, and Sweetie Belle was forced not to inform Applebloom or Scootaloo. Applejack made sure not to tell her family either. She simply told them that she and the gang were going to Las Pegasus on a friendship mission for the weekend. Rarity had spent that entire week preparing outfits for herself and Spike. Most of the work was already premade as she still had all their girls’ dresses from the Canterlot Royal Wedding, which only needed touching up. As for herself and Spike, it was no difficult task to make him a cute little tuxedo; practically a small wedding gift for him. It was a good thing she had his measurements on file. And as for her wedding dress; time was a little too short for her to make her dream dress, but she did manage to put together something simple and lovely-- a long white flowing skit was faded hints of blue at the ends, and a silver edging and a sapphire broch on the chest. A simple short veil made of tulle she could simply wearing on her head with a simple flower clip in her mane. She sighed heavenly, and couldn’t wait to wear it tomorrow. “I wonder what Spike is doing now?” she wondered. Spike was at the Castle with all the others celebrating the big day coming tomorrow, and Spike’s last night as single, and so he and Rarity could keep apart until the wedding-- Rarity didn’t mind being left out as she was busy that day. There were cupcakes, sandwiches, fruit punch, and party games for everyone, only Spike seemed to be taking a little slowly, and his spirits seemed rather down than up. “Spike, don’t you want to play?” asked Pinkie. “Oh, I want to,” he whimpered “But… I just feel so nervous. I mean it just dawned on me that my life is about to change forever! By this time tomorrow morning, I’ll be… married!” “Yeah, it’s pretty huge.” Rainbow teased “Not as much privacy always obligated to your wife, and then someday you’ll increase the herd with a few dozen kids or so.” Spike only felt more nervous than ever. “Rainbow Dash, that’s not very nice.” scolded Fluttershy. Rainbow apologized and then perked him up, “Seriously, you’ll be fine. You can Rarity have it made already.” “You think so?” “…What’s not to think?” said Applejack “You two are crazy for each other like a dog is crazy for a t-bone. Rarity might be hard to get along with sometimes, but you’ve actually got what it takes to make her happy, Spike, or she wouldn’t have popped it to you.” Spike began to feel a little better, and then Twilight spoke to him. “Spike, it’ll be fine. I mean, sure it’s not going to be the same around here without you.” Spike felt sad now. He had already moved a lot of his things over to Rarity’s and wouldn’t be staying in the castle anymore, but he promised to remain loyal to Twilight, their friendship, and helping her whenever he could. “But just know this…” Twilight said, sounding like a proud mother figure watching her child grow up, “… You’ve come a long way, and I’m proud of you, and any time you need me, I’ll be there for you.” A tear ran down Spike’s face, and he hugged her, “I wouldn’t be who I am today if not for you Twilight, or any of you.” The ponies all felt grateful to Spike, and Pinkie blew her nose loudly. Spike then leapt off his chair, as a song began to play, and he shouted, “I’ve got a few hours left, so let’s make the most of it!” The ponies all cheered and they all began to party as Spike began to sing. I’m getting married right tomorrow Hoo-Wee, it’s going to be sublime Pass me the donuts… Let’s all just go nuts …but get me to the place on time! If I’m asleep, then wake me up. If I am stirred, then please shake me up. Then the others all began to sing… He’s getting married right tomorrow, Gotta get things ready on a dime, [Pinkie] Gotta get the flowers… For each friend of ours… [Spike] …But get me to the place on time! [Applejack] If he’s not clean, give him a bath, [Rainbow] If he is walking, I’ll fly him down the path. The ponies all played and played until it was about time to head to the train station to catch the private train Twilight had requested so there wouldn’t be any other passengers. [Twilight] Come on, let’s go… [Fluttershy] We’ll take it nice and slow… [Spike] But get me to the place… Get me to the place… Celestia’s sake… get me to the place… on… Time! Twilight left the group to get Rarity, so she could ride in a different cart, and help with the luggage. She teleported right into Rarity’s room where she had tons of baggage and large suitcases and trunks. “Rarity, are you sure you need all this?” “Darling, please…” Rarity insisted “Some of this stuff is Sweetie Belle’s and my parents’. We all plan to make the most of it.” Her folks and Sweetie Belle stood at the door to Rarity’s room looking ready and raring to go. “Well, let’s get a move on,” said Twilight and she poofed away taking some of the suitcases with her, needing to make several trips back and forth to get it all and then return for the passengers. That’s when Rarity began to sing her part of the song… I’m getting married right tomorrow, All the outfits I’ve made are divine Bring in the dresses… Clean of any messes… …But get me to the place on time. If I may cry, tell me a joke If I’m a sleep, then give me a big poke. Sweetie took it literally… “…Sweetie Belle!” “…What?” Then Sweetie and the parents sang… She’s getting married right tomorrow, Everything is falling right in line [Hondo] Pack up the things… Don’t forget the rings… [Rarity] …But get me to the place on time! [Cookie] If she is shy, give her a scare… “Boo!” “Oh! Oh, my…!” [Sweetie] If she is here, then get her straight right there. Twilight appeared again, feeling out of breath, but finally having finished her round trips with the baggage, and was ready to take the family to the train-station. “All aboard, we’re on our way!” Then she and the family were transported right to the platform, and they boarded the car, with Spike and the others behind in the next one, and the train began to head off into the night, while both Rarity and Spike finished the song… [Rarity] Grant me a big wish… [Spike] And dream of a jeweled dish… [Both] But get me to the place… Get me to the place… Celestia’s sake… get me to the place… on… TIME!!
