A Day Of Bliss

A Day Of Bliss

I am Blitz! A changeling, like the ones from the hive, but different…

I woke up from a hot, steamy dream. Not a good hot steamy dream, one that made me worry and sweat. I was awoken by my alarm clock, that struck 7 o'clock. I was not in a state to do anything, not until I cleaned myself up first. I got out of my bed gingerly and then stood on the wooden floorboards. I began to stretch and make me looser, so I couldn't hurt myself easily. I proceeded to use a cleaning spell on myself, washing any of the sweat, marks and other impurities out of my system and away from my senses. It felt relaxing, so good in fact that it was one of the most relaxing activities that I usually did.

Showers were not needed anymore, not if magic like that was possible to use. I shook my body after I applied the spell and instantly felt cleaner than before. That was a good feeling! I regained my focus on my day and began my journey towards the stairs. After I had reached my destination, I opened my bug-like wings and soared down the stairs. I was so happy as a changeling. I was able to experience both flight and magic, just like an alicorn. I landed at the bottom of the stairs and then galloped into the kitchen. Swinging the cabinet doors open, I telekinetically transported some oats over to me, placed them in a bowl, then placed them back inside the cabinet. I was left with a bowl, full of oats.

To answer any questions that you might have, yes I am a changeling, but no I'm not a pure changeling. I'm a half breed changeling!

Time flew as my oats in my bowl were evaporated from my bowl and into my mouth. They tasted lovely, as always, but I felt like something was off. Something like the mixture being off or something. Anyway, I scampered to my bathroom, flying back up the stairs and then turning to the right.

My bathroom was a pale blue colour, mixed in with a certain type of purple that made my eyes explode with memories about my family. Those brought back some bad memories, along with a mixture of good ones too. I looked into the mirror on my bathroom wall and sighed

"Great one Blitz! You're a mess. Cheer up you changeling fool! You just need to relax and go and enjoy yourself." I commanded myself, talking into the mirror. I spruced up myself with different scents and then looked back to the mirror. "You're ready!" I stated to myself. I trotted down the stairs and then walked to the door of the house.

"Be confident!" I commanded myself, hoping that I would be, when I walked out into the randomness that was our world.

. . .

I was walking down the cobbled pathways that lead into the main shopping district of Canterlot. It was not as packed as I had originally assumed, but it was still more ponies and creatures than ponyville. I always received looks from the ponies, looks that were not happy, but also not angry, nor sad. They wore confused and troubled looks, but I knew why they looked at me like they did, I was the same colour as the old changelings. The 'evil' changelings! Most of my kind had changed, but not me, I was still hole punched and grey. Against all of the negativity, they knew that I was not going to cause any trouble, but they had to keep an eye on me, just incase. I understood that!

As ponies glanced at me, I locked my sights on an argument that was going on in the distance. A crowd had begun to form due to it. I stood behind all of the ponies and creatures and watched.

"You really believe this! That I would go so far to cheat on you?" A pegasus mare asked an enraged earth pony stallion.

"I got the evidence that I need to prove that you would!" The earth pony stallion shouted out, attracting more ponies and creatures. As more and more ponies and creatures gathered around, I began to feel a little uncomfortable with the convocation going on between the couple. I slowly moved away from the scene and then turned to be in front of a unicorn mare. My mind paused for a brief couple of seconds, as I bumped into the mare, knocking her and myself onto the floor.

"Ouch! My… my bad Miss!" I blurted out as I laid on the floor. I slowly got up and walked towards the mare and helped her up. She was a beautiful shade of grey and had an amazing white mane. That mane couldn't have been natural, surely! She looked at me with her golden, mahogany eyes and laughed.

"Haha, you don't have to be sorry. It happens! Did I hurt you?" She asked with some concern. I shook my head and she smiled.

"No, you didn't hurt me. Are you alright though?" I asked with a bit too much embarrassment. She nodded her head, to my relief.

"Good thing we're not hurt. That would've sucked big time! Anyway, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Emination Harvest, but most people call me Emi." She blurted out. This made me smile a little, but I couldn't help but chuckle.

"I'm Blitz Nova… nice to meet you Emi!" I announced proudly.

"Nice to meet you too Blitz. Sorry I walked into you. I had to get away from that couple. It brings back horrible memories." Emi admitted.

"I was doing the same! I haven't had a decent relationship yet, so tried to get away from that, to avoid me from thinking about my last relationship." I truthfully stated.

Emi just stared at me, making me feel a little uneasy and making me look away. She held my cheek and forced me lightly to look at her. My eyes met hers for a split second before I looked away again. She let go of my cheek and sighed.

"Something else is bothering you, isn't it?" She asked carefully. I nodded a little, still trying to avoid eye contact with her, and everypony else for that matter. "You want to talk about it, to somepony who understands what it's like?" Emi asked carefully, just loud enough that I was able to hear her. I nodded in response to her question.

"So you know what I'm going through do you?" I asked with curiosity. She nodded.

"Follow me! I'll make sure that we are alone to speak." She instructed. I followed Emi…

. . .

We both arrived outside a house. I presumed that I was Emination's, partly because she had a key. She opened the door and commanded me to come in and sit down. She closed the door behind me as I admired her living conditions. Either she had a fear of dust, or had a maid, because the house was spotless. I walked down the corridor slowly and admired each of the paintings on the wall. I kind of liked them, they amused me like normal paintings couldn't. They just stood out from anything I had ever seen. Emi perched herself next to me as I evaluated the paintings.

"I draw a lot of things and these are my favourite inspirations." Emi stated, pointing her hoof to them.

"You have some good inspiration!" I proudly announced to her, earning a smile and a slight blush from the beautiful mare. She got up and trotted to the living room. Inside was a bunch of chairs and a sofa. EMI jumped onto the sofa and then looked at me, tapping her hoof on the sofa.

I moved to join Emi and then sighed. I looked at her and she looked at me. We just sat there in silence, until Emi got brave enough to break the silence.

"So umm… Blitz, what brought you to Canterlot?" Emi asked, curious to know my background. I looked at her with a fearful look.

"It's a long story to tell." I sadly stated.

"I have all the time in the world." Emi reassured me, chuckling a little.

"Well then, I'll begin! I was born in the hive, like the rest of my kind, but what was strange was that I had developed normal stallion features. Straight horn, no holes in my wings or tail and most obvious of all, I had normal eyes. Chrysalis found out that my mom had slept with a stallion and not another changeling. She ordered for her execution and she ran out of the hive, with me. We met up with my father and were free! We then lived among other ponies, developing our own original characters. Those were our identities for the rest of our lives, until Thorax became the leader of the new changelings. Now, we can live in peace and without fear." I explained to Emi. She seemed to enjoy it, due to the fact that I saw that her ears were perked up high, able to listen to every word. She nodded slowly.

"But you still don't look at ponies, because of what exactly?" Emi asked, confusion and care in every word.

"That's… that's just an anxiety thing! I feel like ponies are just out to bug me all the time, no pun intended." I chuckled to her, looking deeply into her eyes. "Thanks for this btw. You've been the first pony I talked to in a while, and to be completely honest, it's actually helped a little. Maybe talking to somepony is better after all?"

Emi nodded and sighed a little. "I'm sorry, but I have to ask… what else was on your mind?" She asked with a troubled look, ears splaying back as she gulped after.

I looked down at my hooves and then back up to Emi's chocolate coloured eyes and smiled. "I just wish that I wasn't a changeling! I wish that I was a unicorn, or pegasus, or…" I stated loudly before Emi cut me off with a 'boop' to my muzzle. "What was that?" I asked, being completely confused from the action.

Emi just stared at me with a firm smile on her face. I was still pondering what she just did. Before I could do anything else, she placed her hooves on mine and stuck her tongue out at me. This made me blush a little and I smiled, as well as chuckled at her attempt to 'be cute'.

"So… what about you? Why did you have to get out of there?" I asked politely, allowing her the time she needed to ponder an answer.

"Well… I kind of didn't like the way that they were arguing! It reminded me of my husband." Emi stated clearly.

"Wait what? You're married?" I asked, trying to sound like I wasn't gonna try anything.

"Sadly no. I was divorced and haven't really thought about going into a relationship since. That was a year ago and… and I feel like if I try to get with someone, it's just gonna end the same way." Emi stated with a panic. I calmed her by rubbing her hoof, like she did mine originally. She looked to the floor and sighed. "Thank you Blitz!" She stated with a slight blush and a chuckle.

"I hope you know that I'm not trying to win your heart, I just wanna friend that I can relate closely to." I stated, rubbing the back of my mane with my hoof.

"It's ok Blitz. Don't be nervous. If we're gonna be friends then, we need to learn more about each other. You wanna start?" She asked, looking back at me and sticking her tongue out at me. I nodded and then took in a deep breath.

"Well… if you need to know… I won't, or at least can't, change my natural form into my new kind. It's kind of sad to be honest." I blurted out. Emi's head tilted a little. This made me sigh. "Because I am not a pure changeling, because of my father being an earth pony, I don't have the DNA to change to the new state." I carefully explained to Emi. She was smart enough to understand that, or at least I hoped she understood it.

"Well then… if we're getting things out in the open, I've got something to tell you friend." Emi announced proudly. I wore an amused and slightly concerned look.

"And what might that be Emi?" I asked curiously.

"I used an age prevention spell! I'm older than you think." She explained.

"Let me guess… 21?" I asked, hoping to Celestia that I didn't get her age over.

"You're such a flatterer! I'm actually 24." She pointed out.

My face wore both amusement and shock. "Surely not! You look like you've only just turned into a full grown mare." I blurted out with confusion. Emi chuckled from my shock.

"Of course silly! I used the age prevention spell when I was about 19 years old. Best decision of my life." Emi stated with a sly chuckle and a prominent blush. At least she was enjoying herself.

"Well, I hope I'm not giving you the impression of trying to hit on you. I just find you… umm, what's the word… interesting? Maybe… strange? No! Definitely interesting." I pondered to myself. Emi just chuckled and stared at me.

"To be honest, even if you were trying to hit on me, I wouldn't say yes. We would need to see each other more if we were ever to consider it. Plus, we would have to take into consideration what happened to me and the emotions that I might feel if I was to ever get myself into that position again." Emi blankly stated, putting her hoof on my cheek.

"Not trying to flatter you Emi, but you are a beautiful mare. How come your marriage came to an end, if you don't mind me asking?" I asked, feeling a little sad for the mare.

"Well… let's just say that my husband wasn't the cleanest pony in Equestria. He got into some bad habits and then I snapped. I couldn't stand for what he was doing and it just ended." Emi announced sadly, a tear falling down the corner of her eye.

I felt bad for her, so I did the most appropriate thing I could do. I gave Emi a simple hug, making her sit up and embrace into it. She began to let out a little stream of tears at the thought of her divorced husband.

"If only he didn't get into those… those things, the drugs and all that. I wish that he could have kept clean." Emi sadly whispered. She embraced the hug and pulled me closer to her. It was the only thing I could think of doing, but I didn't regret it for one minute. Emi pulled back from the hug and wiped a tear from her eye and smiled.

"Again, thank you Blitz! You don't understand how good it feels to talk to somepony about this who would just listen and understand what I had to put up with." Emi stated happily, a smile breaching the outer limits of her face.

"You're welcome Emi! Anytime." I replied happily. "You wanna grab a bite to eat?" I asked.

Emi nodded her head at me and then raised her hoof up to me and picked herself up from off the sofa, before stretching and then quickly prancing into the kitchen, in the next room.

"I was on about going out, like actually out, like a meal or something!" I shouted to Emi from the comfort of the sofa. I didn't receive a reply instantly, but could hear some noise coming from the kitchen. I got up slowly and crept towards the kitchen.

I peeked through the door and could see Emi cooking, already getting things ready to eat, as well as warming up some other foods.

"Everything alright here Emi?" I asked, hoping that she was alright and not having much trouble with the cooking. Emi turned sharply and looked at me. She just stood there, looking me up and down for some weird reason.

"Yeah, I'm fine! It's just that most of the restaurants here only server good looking food or visibly appealing food, not food focused on tasting good." She admitted angrily. "That's why I prefer to dine in the comfort of my own home." Emi added.

I nodded and smiled. "Nothing wrong with that! Homemade food is the best food." I happily announced. Emi perked up at this and smile.

We happily waited for the food to warm up in the oven and then we dined well. We ate some amazing healthy hay cakes that Emi had made. They were made from lots of different types of herbs and grains, that mixed well together to create our meals. We also drank down some refreshing, non alcoholic beverages and just chatted a little about our past and what we both wanted to achieve in the future. I found out that Emi didn't drink very much alcohol, didn't ever want to touch something that would make her get addicted to smoking, and never wanted to do drugs. I was on the same side that Emi was on. We both didn't like or want to have an addiction, so we never tried things to risk the odds of getting one. We both chuckled and enjoyed the company of one another. I felt like we were so relatable to each other and that if we had some impurities, we could fix them as our friendship grew stronger.

This night was for Emi! She deserved every minute of it. Everypony deserves to have a friend by their side, so Emi had me. I wasn't going to become one of those 'one time pony friends', I was gonna become one of the closest friends that Emi could have. The friend that you could trust, for everything!

It was getting late and I needed to get home, so that I could do my job for tomorrow. Emi blankly looked at me and smiled.

"Mhmm! So you gotta go, huh?" She asked, almost sounding sad that I had to go. I nodded and then threw my hooves around her, bringing her in for a little hug. She pushed me back a little, making me recoil from the action. Emi stood up and then wrapped her forehooves around me for a hug, embracing it like she wanted to.

"Thank you Blitz! I really appreciate tonight. M… maybe…" Emi questioned before I cut her off.

"No! I will! I will come back and see you tomorrow." I commanded, gaining a smile and a chuckle from the beautiful mare. I walked to the door and opened it, as Emi followed me to the door.

I was about to walk out, into the night, when Emi grabbed my shoulder and turned me around. She planted a kiss on my lips that I couldn't have prepared for. She backed off and grinned happily.

"Again… thank you Blitz! I'll speak to you tomorrow then? Emi questioned, a bright shade of pink making an appearance on her cheeks. I nodded and smiled back.

"It's a date!" I replied, before running into the darkness that was the night.
