With the six mares, colt and filly walking towards a bakery to eat something, mares and stallions were still welcoming them with beaming smiles.
The lavender alicorn started thinking, "A cutie mark is a representation of a ponies mear telant and skills, how is it possible to-", she was cut off by Raritys gasp of horror.
"What in the name of Equestria is that", the fashionista pointed a hoof at a rack of tattered brown cloaks.
"Welcome, care to sample our local fashion, we got cloaks this month", a stallion that was wearing one said with a beaming smile causing the fashionista to gag like she's gonna puke.
Spike ran up to him looking at them smiling, "Do they have hoods to make you look like a mysterious traveler", the colt asked.
He nodded, "Can I try one on", the stallion nodded again and took one off the rack and helped the colt put it on.
He smirked covering his head with the hood, "Do I look mysterious and badass Scoots", he asked his girlfriend as she nodded putting on a smile.
"Awesome, can you buy me one mom", he turned to his mother.
But right before Fluttershy can say anything, "O-Oh uh...p-perhaps another time good sir thank you", Rarity took the cloak off the confused colt and started levitating him towards her friends.
Right before he can say anything, "Sorry Spikey-Wikey, I promise you I'll make you a better one when we get back to Ponyville ok", he nodded.
The group walked over to a table next to a bakery and sat down, "No wonder no pony is wearing anything", the fashionista whispered as Fluttershy scolded them.
"Really girls, they maybe do things a bit different then we're use to, it's no reason to be rude".
"No, the reason to be rude is they all keep staring at us", the group noticed that everypony was still staring at them.
"Need something", Double Diamond asked from across the street at another table.
Twilight sheepishly smiled, "No we're good", then she turned her attention back to her friends, "Fluttershys right, if we are gonna get to the bottom of why the map sent us here, we need the help of these ponies".
"Well I hope we figure out what it is cuz I don't wanna be here much longer where ponies are staring at us like creeps", Scootaloo said sitting next to Spike and her mother, just as a unicorn mare walked up to them wearing an apron.
"I think we ran off to the end of Equestria before we even knew what that map was", Applejack told her friends.
By then Spike noticed how everypony has the same haircuts as Pinkie said smiling, "If we were at the end of Equestria, we'll be sitting on a big A, (giggle) get it".
Rarity wasn't amused, "Oh please miss Pie, this is hardly the time for jokes, we came all this way and for what", she crossed her hooves.
"Maybe you're right, but we're here now, and it still feels like somethings wrong", Twilight spoke up.
"That and two bit can buy you a cup of cider".
"Is this a bad time", the unicorn mare spoke up.
"We shouldn't be bickering like this in front of our new friends, really Applejack, you're almost as bad as Rainbow Dash", Fluttershy scolded her country friend.
"Don't drag me into this", this rainbow Pegasus said glaring as the ponies that was listening covered the colts and fillies ears still smiling.
"Is your friendship ending?"
"Are you kidding, we never let a disagreement get in the way of food", the pink party pony said smiling while licking her lips.
"Ok well, my name is Sugar Belle, what can I bring you..we have muffins", she said levitating a note pad in front of her.
The colt stared up at her, "Is that it-Spike, don't be rude to her mister", the shy Pegasus scolded her son.
"Then I guess we have eight muffins-Make that sixteen", her friends looked at her, "What I'm hungry", the unicorn mare walked in her bakery.
"Come on girls, we gotta stick together, it doesn't matter what happened before, we're here now".
The started to smile a little, "I guess you're right, the sooner we figure out why, the sooner we can go home", by then the unicorn mare put a plate of brown muffins on the table.
"Forgive me for over hearing, but just a moment ago your disagreeing, and now it sounds like you're agreeing", the main 6 smiled at her.
"Uh huh".
She smiled sheepishly, "Well you have such different opinions, and cutie marks".
Rarity gave a light chuckle, "We have different opinions all the time darling".
"But you look like you're friends".
"We are friends, a simple disagreement wouldn't change that", the group nodded.
"Yeah, and someday me and Spike with have a disagreement about something, but it ain't gonna stop me from loving him", the athletic filly kissed and nuzzled her boyfriends cheek with a smile as he nuzzled her back with a smile of his own.
"Im sorry, I'm just having a hard time understanding, different talents leads to different opinions which leads to bitterness and missery, so...why ain't you bitter and-", she stopped talking when Pinkie and Spike spit the treats out in disgust.
"Oh man, did you make these muffins out of dirt", the colt said wriping his tongue with a hoof as his mother scolded him.
"Spike, apologize right now mister".
"It's alright, I know I'm not a very good baker, at least..I'm not any better than anypony else in the village", she looked down frowning, then noticed Diamond Diamond giving her a suspicious look.
She smiled nervously, "Well, I hope you enjoy our little village", then started to head inside, but not before whispering in Twilights and Pinkies about meeting her downstairs in her building.
When she headed inside, "Ok that was weird", the rainbow Pegasus said confused.
"Let's just sit here and eat these muffins and act normal, I think we are being watched", the group looked at everypony else and noticed how they are still smiling.
But the colt noticed how they all have tbe same hair cuts too, "Ya think".
"Not like that, I mean somepony here don't want us talking to Sugar Belle", the lavender alicorn gestured her head towards to the white unicorn stallion across the street that was eating a muffin and reading a new paper.
Applejack started thinking, "I got an idea, but you're gonna eat all them muffins Pinkie", she turned to her pink party friend.
"Me, why me", she wined laying her head on the table and pulling her hair down.
"You got a stronger stomach then any of us, and that filly in there might be our best chance of finding out what in the hay is going on around here", the country pony explained as Pinkie looked at the muffins in horror.
After awhile, she was eating the last of the muffins with a green face and a little bloated, she looked like she was ready to puke it back up.
"I can't believe you ate all the muffins Pinkie Pie, we best go inside and get some more", the country pony did her best to lie as the group got up heading inside.
As they where walking downstairs, "Nice work Pinkie", Twilight said smiling.
Her pink friend started tumbling down the stairs, "I accidentally eaten car board tastier then that", Spike and Scootaloo helped her out.
Everypony noticed how dark it was as the looked around, "Hello, Sugar Belle?"
"Thank you for coming", they heard her voice before she walked out of the shadows smiling.
"Why did you want us to come down here".
"So nopony can see what's about to happen", she told them, then two other ponies started walking out of the shadows like they were surrounding them.
One was Party Favor and the other was a black Pegasus with a white mane and tail.
As they closed in on them, the mares got ready to fight, "Spike Scootaloo get behind us", they two tweens did just that.
Fluttershy went from shy, to protective mother in a heart beat glaring, "You know trying to attack a mother in front of her little boy is suicide, right".
As Twilight glared with her horn glowing, "Are you really the Princess of Friendship".
"Do you know Princess Celestia", by then the group became confused.
"I love your cutie mark", Sugar Belle got a little too close to Pinkies flank staring at it.
"How can you be friends with different cutie marks, don't you end up hating each other", the Pegasus mare asked confused.
Suddenly the unicorn mare got close to Fluttershys flank touching it, "Look at this one, this one's great too".
Then she sighed, "I'd love to have my special talent back, even just for a day, make something besides those disgusting muffins", she looked down frowning.
"So what's stopping you, go get your cutie marks back", Scootaloo told them as her boyfriend and the mares nodded.
"Daydreaming is one thing, but actually having them put back on..that seems extreme".
"I'm not sure Starlight would like that, she wants us to be happy in our sameness".
Spike stepped forward speaking up, "How do you take someponies cutie mark anyways".
"The cutie unmarking is a beautiful experience, Starlight uses the Staff of Sameness to magically take them away, and replace them with these", they showed off their equal signs cutie mark.
"But, nopony should keep you from your cutie mark, it represents such a insintro part of who you are", the lavender alicorn told them.
"Oh we're not kept from them, they're in a vault up in a cave, we can visit them anytime we want to remind us of the heartache of a life with special talent", that caused the group to become suspicious that something is going on.
"How is having a special talent a heartache, it could be something that could help ponies", Spike spoke up stepping forward.
"How?"
"For an example, say your special talent is helping ponies in medical need, and you give that up, who's gonna be able to help them?"
That caused the three ponies to think, then Twilight thought of something, "Can we visit this cave?"
Minutes later they were walking up a path outside of the town with Starlight as she was leading them towards the cave, Double Diamond was right behind them.
"I'm delighted that you're interested in our cutie mark vault, someday everypony in Equestria will make a pilgrimage here to our little village, to have there remove too".
As the unicorn continued to talk, the lavender alicorn started to fall behind a little bit so they can talk, "This must be the reason we're here".
"Pilgrimaging".
"No, helping those ponies get there cutie marks back".
"Oh, are you sure Twilight, maybe they missed them a little bit, even they didn't seem all that unhappy", Fluttershy told her friend.
"Then why did they wanna meet us in secret, and why ask us not to tell Starlight who told us about the vault, something's not right".
By then they were close to cave, "Just though here", the unicorn up ahead spoke up smiling waiting by the cave.
When they all walked in, "Cool cave", the colt said looking around as Scootaloo agreed.
Then they heard Starlight say, "Behold, our cutie mark vault", the six mares and two tweens were shocked staring at the glass containers.
The colt and his girlfriend ran up to it and started looking at all the cutie marks with smiles, wondering what talent they represented, then they noticed six empty slots confusing them.
"Never seen anything like it", Twilight said in awe.
"And here, is the staff of Sameness", she grabbed it with her magic aura and turned to the six mares, "It was one of the great Mage MeadowBrooks nine enchanted items".
Twilight started to realise something as Starlight continued, "We are incredibly fortunate to have it here, this is the tool that allows us to free ourselves from our marks", then took a glance at the lavender alicorn and her friends.
"I'm curious, how did the subject of the vault come up", she asked with narrow eye's.
"Oh someponies were telling us how much they miss your cutie marks and-Pinkie", the lavender alicorn scolded her before the pink party pony realised she messed up and covered her mouth.
"Were they, well it seems you inspired all sorts of free thinking, don't you", Starlight walked up to them glaring now and sounding menacing.
By then Spike and Scootaloo noticed this, Rarity started to laugh nervously, "W-We didn't mean to cause any trouble here in your charming little-Good, let's just make sure of that, shall we".
That caused the fashionista to back up before bumping into Double Diamond, then the rest of the village ponies started walking out of the shadows.
"It's a trap", the lavender alicorn yelled out before teleporting in the air, she was gonna fire a magic beam but the evily grinning unicorn mare blasted her with the magic of the stick.
It stopped her holding her in place as she started groaning in pain, it was removing her cutie mark, when it was finished removing it, she placed it in the vault causing the lavender alicorn to fall with a thud.
"Mom", the colt said backing up in fear as the ponies started walking towards him and his girlfriend too.
Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash saw this and glared protectively as their motherly instincts kicked in.
They were gonna save them, but only to get grabbed by the magic themselves along with the rest of their friends.
They started groaning in pain feeling their cutie marks being peeled off their flanks, the colt and filly started to become concerned for their mothers.
When their marks were removed, they were placed next to Twilights cutie mark in the vault, Spike and Scootaloo ran to them, but only to get pulled away from their tails by Starlights magic.
"Double Diamond, keep them away from their mothers", the stallions and mares started questioning that.
"Uh you sure that's a good idea Starlight, everypony knows it's a bad idea to try to seperated a child from his or her mother", he asked.
"Just do it, they need to learn anyways", the unicorn stallion sighed and nodded keeping them at bay with another stallion.
The six mares looked weak and helpless as Starlight turned her attention to them, "Now I don't blame you for what you tried to do here today, you spend your whole lives thinking those marks are a good thing".
"Give them back", Twilight said glaring.
"So help me if you hurt my son-", the crazy unicorn ignored the glaring shy mares threat and started walking towards the stand to put the staff back.
"Now you can spend the rest of your lives here, with us, and we'll teach you just how better life can be without your cutie marks", she gave them a cruel smile.
