A Sparkling Transformation

Chapter 1

Manteo, North Carolina.

As usual, Jimmy was having a good time. He did some shopping, as the fridge inside his home needed more food, along with other chores. And then, he had free time to do things for fun. As he was in the middle of summer holidays, that free time would take a bit longer to disappear.

One day, after a nice breakfast, Jimmy went outside to have a walk and doing some exercise. Walking, running, jumping, going on bike or trying to imitate Rocky were his favourite activities to make sure his body looked healthy and energetic.

After a while, he entered inside a cafeteria from the town. Usually, there was a friendly ambiance inside, but that day seemed to be even more animated.

"Uuuh... Is something happening?" Jimmy asked, listening as everyone chatted with happiness in their voices.

"Oh, Jimmy! Haven't you heard the news?" a girl asked, smiling.

"Hmmm... Aside from a fire being extinguished and a storm coming next week, nothing else. Why?" Jimmy replied.

"Jimmy, shooting stars will appear tonight, at half past ten! We're going to have a clear sky, so we'll be able to see those precious things!" the bartender explained.

That's when Jimmy started feeling excited, "Really!? We cannot miss it!!"

"Then, what are you waiting for? Be sure to have your eyes checked before the show!" the bartender said, as everyone laughed at the joke.

A while later, Jimmy was back at home. He cleaned his glasses three times, confirming there was no dirt on them and prepared something for lunch, although his excitement for the upcoming night made him spill a bit of water and drop a few things, which he cleaned later.

After lunch, he spent the rest of the time having fun at home, playing a videogame and watching some TV, until the sky finally darkened.

"Oh! The time is almost here!" he thought happily.

The news on the TV were broadcasting the night through all the channels, awaiting the arrival of those special stars. Jimmy watched them, also keeping an eye on the clock, as he cooked and prepared his dinner. When he finished, there was just one hour left before it started, so Jimmy changed his clothes, turned every light off and went out of the house, using the bike to race towards where the rest of people were going.

After ten minutes, everyone was gathered at the place, a field with no trees or anything else which could disturb the vision. There was still half an hour left, so people were doing whatever they wanted in order to have fun.

Around the field, Jimmy saw a few people which acted like magicians. One of them was sliding swords between the holes on a box; another one was doing a card trick for three people; and there was another one which was doing something with two bottles.

The thing that made Jimmy feel surprised looked more different: there was a girl, dressed in regular clothes and surrounded by some people, whom stared in awe as she levitated a car for a few seconds before leaving it back on the place. As people gave her an applause, Jimmy managed to notice something red dripping from the girl's nose, but she quickly got rid of it.

"Huh... That's curious..." He said. He put his glasses off for cleaning them again and put them on his head, only to discover the girl wasn't there anymore. After blinking for a couple of times, he heard people speaking louder as the time has finally arrived.

"Mommy! Look at the sky!" a kid exclaimed, pointing at the sky. People gasped in awe, and Jimmy turned around, feeling the same emotions: the shooting stars were already flying through the dark sky.

As he stared at the glorious spectacle just above his head, he also noticed something: one of the shooting stars seemed to be closer than the others, although it wasn't going towards the field, but somewhere else.

"Uuuuuh... That's not where shooting stars usually go. What's with that one?" he thought.

Not wanting to lose sight of that star, Jimmy quickly looked for his bike and pedaled as fast as he could, leaving the field and the rest of people as he followed the meteoric object. Every light was off at Manteo, but that didn't stop him from continuing with his own quest.

The star approached the ground even more as time passed, until Jimmy heard some kind of explosion. Making some turns with the bike, he arrived at the place were the star had crashed: the airport.

Jimmy ran where the star had fallen. Fortunately, there were no planes in that side of the airport, so only the ground suffered some damage. However, the crater left by the star had something glowing inside. Kneeling beside the crater, he could see what it was. And it looked like some kind of tiara.

"Heh. Funny, cause this looks like something I have seen on the TV." he said, chuckling. "It could be useful for a costume I'm planning."

However, when Jimmy got closer to the glowing tiara, it latched onto his head, getting him by surprise. He tried to get it off, but that didn't work.

"Hey! Just like Ben 10!" He thought, before resuming his current task.

As he walked to a wall and moved his head in order to try and break the tiara, a sudden flash of light engulfed him. When it vanished, Jimmy wasn't there. Instead of him, there was a purple girl, wearing some clothes related to her traits, like the colors of her hair and a tail which had appeared behind her. Aside from the tail, she also had a pair of pony ears and wings.

And she was also wearing a tiara.

Looking around, Twilight noticed two familiar girls had also appeared, and they were looking at her.

"Let me guess, darling..." Rarity said.

"Did it happen to you as well like us?" Fluttershy continued.

"I think so... But why is it affecting us?" Twilight asked, feeling confused.

They thought about it as they analyzed their current situation.
