//------------------------------// // Have faith // Story: Well... // by Devoted Melody //------------------------------// Fluttershy had been having quite the challenging Saturday morning. First off the veterinary clinic was closed for the weekend. Which meant that Scuffles the newest stray dog at her Animal Shelter, would have to deal with her upset tummy till Monday. The Homeless Shelter was low on supplies and volunteers, which was a shame to see that the community as a whole had become apathetic. Lastly, Fluttershy found out her visit to the Children's Hospital was cancelled. Due to an outbreak among the poor children, she could only pray they would feel better soon. Walking down the sidewalk wearing her turquoise summer dress, the sound of her matching heels clicked against the cement walkway echoing into the bright sky above. Fluttershy felt a sense of dread creeping in upon her usually sunny disposition. Everything that could go wrong, was oddly enough coming true. For the day being so bright. She sure felt a dark storm cloud hovering over her head bleakly. Brushing her long pink hair out of her face with a delicate sigh, she figured a tiny break at a Cafe might cheer her up. Walking into “ Harmonies “, the newest local cafe in town. Fluttershy could feel her smile returning to her face once more. This Cafe being a hotspot for natural tea's of every kind, the scent of honey, fruit, and mints filling the air around her. This was indeed a place of tranquility and peace. Spotting a nice cozy table off in the corner, Fluttershy politely took her seat. Dainty yellow hands picking up a lovely rose colored menu, her bright blue eyes drinking in the selection of drinks with excitement. Her day was finally picking up. Until the distinct tapping of a boot caught her attention, lowering her menu the young girl spotted an unexpected sight. Adagio Dazzle was standing before her with a look of annoyance upon her face, those dark violet hues burning into Fluttershy's very soul. The ex-siren frowning with pursed lips of anger. Wearing a dark black leather jacket with a red tank top underneath. A plaid styled miniskirt and of course knee length boots dripping with sass and attitude. “May I…” Fluttershy nervously parted her lips to speak. “Be quiet? Yes, you may!” Adagio rudely interrupted with an eyeroll, taking a seat across from Fluttershy scoffing. “...” Fluttershy simply batted long lashes in confusion. “I couldn't help but notice, you've been having a rough day.” Adagio yanked the menu from the shy girl's hands with ease. “Well…” Fluttershy whispered. “Mm-hmm. I followed you since the Animal Shelter, nothing is going as planned.” Adagio let a smug giggle escape her lips deviously. “Things happen.” Fluttershy let her gaze fall to her hands. “Exactly! Things happen for no reason at all, living the line or the lie it doesn't change the outcome!” Adagio flipped her long auburn waves over her shoulder. “...” Fluttershy bit her lower lip gently. “You and your friends, ruined my chances at starting an easy life I've earned. Yet even after being exiled from the school, my sister's and I walking the straight and narrow.” Adagio placed her hand over Fluttershy's firmly. “Um…” Fluttershy could feel her heart start to race in a panic. “Life never got better. The light never did come nor did we learn any life changing lesson!” Adagio squeezed the girl's hand hard, watching Fluttershy wince in pain slightly. “The world just kept moving. Now we just live day by day, nothing ever improving.” Adagio suddenly burst into a fit of giggles, letting go of the young girl with a smile. “...” “Just know, living your little life in blind faith doesn't mean a thing! At the end, your day will just get worse.” Adagio gave a “hmph” of satisfaction to Fluttershy, standing up in complete silence. “Well…” Fluttershy spoke in a confident tone of voice. The angry young woman raising a brow curiously. Fluttershy finally lifting her gaze to meet Adagio’s with no sense of fear or doubt. The hustle of the Cafe seeming to grow silent around them, Fluttershy taking a deep breath to find the right words. “I have to disagree. Life might not be as Black and White as that, our actions in this lifetime are not meaningless but instead hold weight.” Fluttershy lifted from her seat nervously, wrapping herself in a firm calming hug. “One should never keep faith if expecting something in return, Goodwill is something we should give freely and with purity in our hearts.” Fluttershy let her gaze fall to the ground, spotting a crumpled up piece of paper on the floor. “Hardships in our life are designed to test our faith, to push us to better ourselves and reach out for a more wonderful tomorrow. If we fail to see that we're not alone, perhaps you just need to look closer.” Fluttershy picked up the paper gently, unfolding it in her hands with care. “Because not once, will we ever have to be lost. With just a little faith, we might just end up...in the place we're needed most!” Fluttershy giggled joyously, placing the paper in Adagio's open hand gently. With a light sigh Fluttershy made her exit out the door, leaving her acquaintance to read the flyer in silence. “Singers Wanted For Live Entertainment, Daily Performances Needed For Harmonies. Please Inquire Within.” Fluttershy could feel her spirit lifting. Stepping out into the bright warm day, she felt a new wave of hope flood over her. The dark cloud of uncertainty replaced with an optimistic view, taking a few steps forward, she headed for home. Adagio suddenly bursting out of the front door of the Cafe hastily, her eyes darting down the sidewalk to the polite soft spoken girl in the distance. “Do you really think people like us, deserve a second chance!?” Adagio yelled out with uncertainty. “I have faith, you can do better!” Fluttershy spun around with a cheerful smile, offering a wave goodbye. For the first time in a while, Adagio could see today was much brighter.
