//------------------------------// // 5. Trap Filled Tour // Story: A Horror Filled Night at 13 Dead End Drive // by Brian Sheil //------------------------------// The girls gathered in the living room as Julie gives a dark explanation. “As some of you know, 13 Dead End Drive has a terrifying reputation.” “So we’ve heard.” Sunset replied. “Before I was named heir to Aunt Agatha’s fortune, the staff, the relatives, and other characters try to destroy each other to claim it.” “I’m glad Poopsie and Pugsley stay out of this family feud.” Fluttershy said. Julie gave a sad look. “I hate to say this, Fluttershy. But, even the pets get involved.” Fluttershy got shocked to hear that. “Oh my. That’s scary.” Just then, a gentleman with a neatly trimmed mustache and wearing an explorer outfit walks in and greets the girls with an Australian accent. “G’ day, mates.” “And, who might you be?” Rarity asked. “My name is Perkins. And, I’m in charge of Miss Agatha’s Wild Game Reserve. I keep it going to honor her.” “I asked Perkins to come over.” Julie explained. “What for?” Dash asked. “To show you guys why this house can be dangerous.” “Mates,” Perkins said, “follow me.” Perkins leads the girls on a tour of the house. Their first stop is a library. “I would feel at home here.” Twilight cooed. “So, what’s dangerous?” Perkins points to a ladder next to a bookcase. “Over here. If one of the relatives climbs up to find a book, another one would be waiting to push the ladder.” “That’s as warped as one of Trixie’s magic tricks going wrong.” Applejack said. “I heard one time,” Julie indicated, “Pierre was looking for a cook book on a high shelf. But, Clay was waiting, and pushed the ladder. Pierre recovered. But, was in pain for a few days.” “I hope his arms and hands weren’t affected.” Rarity said with concern. “Nope. But, he had an aching back for a while.” Minutes later, the group went into another room with heads of animals on the wall. “Some of these powerful animals are ones I shot.” Perkins explained. “But, Miss Agatha convinced me to preserve animals rather than shoot them.” “This room make me uneasy for a variety of reasons.” Fluttershy uttered nervously. “Well, you’ll feel a little more uneasy. See that boar’s head?” Fluttershy looks at a trophy of a boar’s head. “Oh my. He’s a fierce looking beast.” Perkins told everyone about that trophy. “A device is rigged so that the boar can be launched and stab any unfortunate victim.” Sunset touched one the boar’s tusks, and pricked her finger. “Ouch. I can see why. Those tusks are sharp!” In the gallery, Rainbow Dash looks at a suit of armor. “This looks really cool.” “It maybe not be cool to you if it falls on you.” Julie warned. “This suit of armor is a trap too?” “Sure enough.” Perkins answered. “One time, Spritzy was just relaxing when Dusty decided to drop that armor, which by the way, encased a solid statue. Spritzy heard the armor and zipped out of the way just in time.” “Wowee!” Pinkie shouted. “Talk about heavy metal.” Everyone got a chuckle out of that line. Julie and Fluttershy included. In the dining room, everybody looked at the portrait of Aunt Agatha over the fireplace. “Aunt Agatha looks so beautiful. Doesn’t she?” Julie asked. “She sure does.” Twilight replied. “You’re lucky to be related to this fine woman.” Perkins got everyone’s attention. “If I may direct your attention to this fireplace, it’s part of another trap.” “I guess these characters try to throw others in there.” Rarity wondered. “And, not lift a finger to do it.” “How do you mean, Perkins?” Perkins places his hand on an urn on the fireplace. “Just twist this urn here, and a section of the floor will flip up and toss the victim in there.” Applejack was shocked to here that. “Talk about crash and burn.” Perkins nods his head. “You got that right, mate.” Next stop is an art room. A room Pinkie Pie knows well. “This is where I met that freaky lady.” “That freaky lady being the fortune teller.” Rainbow Dash figured. “That’s her.” “What dark trap is in this room?” Applejack asked. “The stairs make a good trap in itself.” Perkins answered. “Anyone can trip and fall down them. I heard that the fortune teller you spoke of, Madame Astra, tripped down those stairs. That's because that blasted cat snagged her robe.” “Poopsie?!” Fluttershy yelped. “She sounds like a sweet cat.” Fluttershy was started to tear up when Twilight touched her shoulder. “Sometimes, Fluttershy, even sweet looking animals can have a mean streak.” The group heads for a room with a vault. Rarity was shocked. “Look at the size of this vault.” “That’s very impressive indeed.” Sunset added. Rarity came close to the vault. “I wonder how much money is...” “Don’t touch that door!” Perkins yelled as he grabs Rarity and pulls her away. “If you open that door, a giant piggy bank would launch and ram into you!” Rarity got surprised hearing that. “Wow! That was a close one.” Finally, the group toured the music room. “Now, this is a beautiful room.” Fluttershy cooed. “I don’t see anything going wrong here.” “Don’t bet on it.” Perkins informed. “See that chandelier?” Everyone looked up and saw the beautiful chandelier Perkins was talking about. “It’s beautiful.” Twilight Sparkle stated. “So, what dangerous about it?” Applejack asked. Perkins gave an answered. “There’s a trigger here to drop that chandelier. Last time it was used, it crushed Beauregard’s ankle. He wore a cast for three weeks.” “Believe it or not, I felt his pain.” Rainbow Dash said. “Hey, guys.” Julie said, getting the girls’ attention. “Let’s change into our sleepwear and meet in the living room. We can relax before bedtime.” Everybody agreed that it was a good idea.
