//------------------------------// // The Butterflies That Flutter Away [Part 4/Final] (Unedited) // Story: Dashtale // by Ghostaloo //------------------------------// The white bullets shot at Sans. He dodged them easily and shrugged his shoulders. "Is that the best you've got?" He taunted and shot his hand out, summing two Gaster Blasters. The large weapons opened their jaws and shot beams of pure white energy. Once the light faded, Sans momentarily stared at the spot Flowey was a few seconds ago. It seemed that Flowey dodged by burrowing into the ground. Sans huffed in slight frustration and gazed around the cave, trying to spot the yellow flower. His skull soon snapped to the left when he heard the sound of dirt shifting several feet away. Green vines shot out of the ground. By the time he got done dodging the storm of vines, Flowey had once again disappeared back under the dirt. "So, we're playing peek-a-boo, huh?" Sans commented loudly as he summoned some bones, eyeing the dirt. "Don't you think that you're a bit too old for this game? Although, I really shouldn't be surprised. You're like, what, six?" "I AM NOT FUCKING SIX!!!" Flowey popped out of the ground a few feet away. "I AM NEARLY 100 YEARS OLD!!!!" 'There you are.' Sans shot the bones at Flowey. They hit their mark and knocked down a decent amount of HP. "Damnit!!!" Flowey snapped as he flinched away in pain. Flowey quickly recovered and glared at Sans. White pellets appeared around him as three more vines popped out. "YOU ARE GOING TO PAY FOR THAT!!!" Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash laid on the ground, watching the fight grow more intense with weak, blurry eyes. White, blue, and green danced around the room almost too fast for her half-conscious brain to keep up with. She desperately wanted this to stop, she wanted this fight to end. Rainbow didn't want anyone to get hurt, or worse, just because of her. Rainbow HAD to do something, she just couldn't sit here and let Sans and Flowey hurt each other! She had to stop them! Rainbow lifted her head weakly and forced her hooves beneath her small body, and with that she began slowly pushing herself to her hooves. It felt like both her pain and instincts were working together to try to get her to give up, to lay back down and go to sleep. Maybe… maybe I should just… sleep…… But as she was just about to fall back onto the ground and give in, a pained scream cut threw the fog in her mind. Rainbow's eyes shot back open. Flowey was leaning over and his petals looked terribly torn. But despite the pain he seemed to be in, he still glared up at Sans with burning hatred, which Sans seemed to return with equal force. One of Sans blasters was hovering over his head, pointing at Flowey. No… no no NO!!! She had to stop him!!!!! Rainbow can't give up, she won't give up, she REFUSED to give up! She had someone to protect! Rainbow Dash was filled with DETERMINATION! With speed Rainbow didn't even know she was capable of, she bolted in front of Flowey and stood on her hind hooves. Her front hooves were spread out wide, making it so she took up space. Things were still. And then she felt it. A burning, terrible pain in her chest, accompanied by the inability to breath. Rainbow looked down and slowly moved one of her hooves to her chest, grasping the vine sticking out from it. "...K-Kid…?" Rainbow looked weakly up at Sans. He had his hand raised slightly as he stared at her in shocked disbelief. She opened her mouth and started hacking. Blood ran down from her mouth and down her muzzle. It dripped onto her mangled chest. And then there was movement. The vine sticking out of her chest rapidly pulled out. Rainbow gasped in pain and fell forward onto the ground. "RAINBOW!" Rainbow Dash felt Sans familiar boney hands wrap around her and lift her up before setting her down on his lap. Green light fluttered against her eyelids. She cracked open her eyes and stared up at Sans quickly darkening figure. He was yelling something at her… what… what was he saying? She can't….. focus…….. There was a blinding white light, and then… nothing…… . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . So. . . . . . . . . . It seems you've gotten yourself killed. I honestly didn't expect you to die this soon. . . . . . . . . . . Who am I you ask?... You don't remember me? How ... interesting. How very, very interesting. . . . . Hmm? You really want to know? I can not tell you that, pony. But don't worry, you'll know soon enough. . . . . . Where are we you ask? It really doesn't matter at the moment. . . . . . . . . . It's about time you returned, little pony. Don't you think? *[Continue]       [Do Not] [Continue]           *[Do Not] . . . . . . No? . . . . . Well. . . . . . . It looks like you DO remember something after all. . . . . . . . It's kind of humerus. You actually think you have a choice? Y O U N E V E R E V E N  H A D A C H O I C E. This is NOT a game, child. There are REAL consequences for your actions. You are going back. And you're going to keep coming back. Whether you want to, or not. Rainbow Dash gasped and bolted upward. She looked around with a mix of confusion and intense terror. She was in her room. Rainbow slowly raised a shaky hoof and set it on her chest. She felt the spot where, not too long ago, she had one of Flowey's vines sticking out of her. It was completely healed. Her hoof dropped back onto the blanket as she stared ahead with an empty expression. She… died. She just died. Rainbow grabbed her head and tugged at her mane lightly, trying to choked back a bout of hysterical laughter. Flowey killed them. Rainbow soon collapsed back down onto her bed and curled up into a fetal position. Then darkness… Sans awoke with a gasp. He stared up at his bedroom ceiling with a hand on with chest. It felt like his SOUL with pulsing a mile a minute. Once he calmed down enough to think, he sat up with a sigh. 'Rainbow Dash saved me. Rainbow Dash jumped in front of that damn weed's attack... to save me.' He gazed down at his boney hands, remembering the filly's tiny, dying body within his arms. Her empty eyes gazing up at him with a look of no regret. He leaned back with his hands covering his face. 'Things just became a lot more complicated.'
