The Canterlot Guild

Team building

Book waited next to the statue outside the school to his new ‘teammates’, and he still wasn’t sure about that.

“Book?” Book heard her voice and turned to see Rainbow Dash alone, walking to him.

“I didn’t expect you to be here early.” Book said with a grin.

“I finished my game early, so I thought, why not come here?” Rainbow Dash shrugged, and she leaned on the statue.

“I’m just trying to deal with the fact that the secret I’ve been hiding for a while now has been exposed.” Book said somberly.

“What’s the worst thing that is going to happen now?” Dash smiled, “People will know how awesome you are.”

“One, I’ll be arrested. Doing the stuff I do isn’t exactly legal. Two, my dad will kill me if he finds out. Three, all of my enemies will know where to find my, and won’t stop until they get me through the people I care about.” Book said, looking like he could continue for hours.

“Four, he will have to talk with people now,” Moon smirked as he walked with Light to the statue, “So you tell me that you can talk now?” Moon asked Light’s bag.

“Yeah, pretty much. It is cool, right?” Wolfy said as he poked his head out of the bag.

“My wolf man,” Moon gave Wolfy a fist bump, and he smiled to him.

Book raised to his feet as he saw Light’s toy and anti-stress mechanism talking and moving. “Light, what did you do?”

“I don’t know. My arm started glowing and then this happened.” Light explained, looking stressed out. “My arm hurt when I rubbed against that big thing, so I thought I’d find some clues.”

“Fluttershy would love that,” Moon crossed his arms, and he leaned on the statue as well, “A pet that she can talk to, I mean it’s a chance of a lifetime.”

Light raised an eyebrow as he paused for a second. “Really?”

“She can already talk to animals.” Dash said as she poked at the toy.

“And this is a toy with a superhero costume.” Book said as he backed away from the statue.

“And Dash is super fast, and Light have the powers of god. So what?” Moon asked, “It’s still a way to break the ice.”

“What do you mean I have the powers of god? I just brought a toy to life!” Light said in fear.

“Think about it, this is a god like power,” Moon put his hands on Light, and he took Wolfy, “I mean, anyone can kill, but only god can revive.”

Light stared at him in fear before grabbing Book and shaking him. “We’ve got to fix this! I don’t wanna be a god!”

“I am afraid we cannot yet,” A. K Yearling told the teens as she walked down the stairs of the school, “This power could be essential to our plan.”

Light looked scared as this lady walked up. “Who’s this?”

“She is an agent of the government that work with magic people, like in the movies,” Pinkie Pie answered as she and the rest of the girls walked towards the group.

“Light, the thing?” Moon asked Light.

Light sighed as he reached into his bag and handed Moon the stuffed animal. “Well can you tell her that I can’t control my magic? I’m also an autistic nutcase who shouldn’t be playing god. Wolfy… was my imaginary friend. Having this toy was the only thing that kept me calm, and now it’s a sign that I’m losing it!” Light said as he started to panic.

Moon gave the stuffed wolf to Applejack, and the cowgirl sighed, “Thank ya Light.”

“It was Moon’s request. Rather, unique, but he said that you’d love it.” Light explained, distracting him from his anxiety.

“Really?” Applejack asked, and she walked to Moon, and gave him a kiss on the cheek, “Ya do know ma, Sugarwolf.”

“Everything for my super girl,” Moon winked.

“That is disgusting,” Wilde Shock said as he arrived as well.

While the two lovebirds talked, Book placed a hand on Light shoulder. “I need to explain something. Almost everybody right here has some form of magic, except me. We’ve… be recruited to take on the Dark Prince that I was telling you about.”

“They found out your secret identity?” Light asked in confusion.

Book groaned as Light exposed himself. “Fine, all of my brothers knew, but that’s it!”

“They aware about all of us, Light” Moon sighed, and he started to breath deeply, and looked at Light, “They know about my wolf curse. About Sunset’s double, about Equestria.”

Light looked scared as he looked at his arm again. “Listen, the hero gig isn’t my thing. All I want is this… thing fixed. Amputation is an option for me.”

“I don’t ask you to be a superhero, Mr. Heart,” A. K told the boy, “I ask you to help us to stop a danger that is beyond our powers.”

“How? Should I bring his teddy bear to life?” Light said as he was clearly becoming worse. “I’m not a fighter. I’m just a freak with a glowing arm. I didn’t need magic to know that I’m…” Light started to breath heavily as tears started running down his face.

“This is why you are all here, to test your powers and abilities and train you as a team.” A. K took her phone and pressed a button, as the statue, with the floor started to move down. The kids soon enough found themselves in a giant building full of agents, weird monsters, hydras, hippogriffs and centaurs. “Welcome to E.M.P.”

Book looked around in amazement. “It kinda makes you realize how normal you are, no matter what you are.”

“I’m just thinking about how did they put a building under our school,” Moon told Book, “I mean it’s a building under our school.”

“I thought they just put the school over the building. I mean, it’s the last place they’d look.” Wilde said with a grin as he took in the sights.

“Alright,” A. K turned to the group, “Follow me.” The group followed Yearling to a large black Room where they saw a young blue girl with yellow blond hair training there. “Ladies and gentlemen, this is Lightning Dust, your trainer and the tester of your abilities.”

“So which one of you, is the wolf?” Lightning Dust asked as all eyes turned to Moon. “Disappointing,” Dust sighed.

“Awe, I thought I was the better wolf and the best superhero.” Wolfy said, pretending to be disheartened.

“Mr. Moon please show her,” Yearling smiled. Moon sighed, and he closed his eyes, and fell to the floor, screaming in pain as green fur grew on his body, his legs and arms grew and claws grew outside of them, his mouth grew longer and sharp fangs grew as well. Where was Moon, now stood Night Beast.

Light stood in fear and total silence.

“Impressed now?” Night beast asked as Lightning Dust’s jaw dropped.

“Well, she’s not running in fear, so she’s doing better than most people.” Book quipped as he took off his glasses and started putting his contact lenses in.

“Alright, what about you?” Dust asked Light, “What tricks do you have?”

Wolfy jumped out of the bag and held his arms out in a superman pose. “Behold, his creation! Wolfy the super dog!”

“Can you do that to robots? Or armor?” Dust asked as she bent over to look at Wolfy.

“I don’t even know how I did it to him!” Light yelled, still having an anxiety attack.

“That’s what we’ll find out,” Dust smiled, “I’m here to test your abilities and see what can you do, and I will start with you, stressed and cute.”

“Oh man,” Wilde Shock smiled, “It seems Light here has a fan already.”

Book looked concerned as Light looked like he was about to have a mental breakdown. “With a friend like her, who needs an enemy? Dust, I don’t think he’s ready for this.”

“Alright then, I saw you and Beast here in action,” Dust looked at Beast and Book, “I would like to see more. You two are first.”

Book nodded as he turned to the beast. “Keep in mind that as the only person here without magic, I’ll be working twice as hard, but it did work for me last time.”

Night Beast and Book walked to the front of the room, “I will try not to hurt you,” Beast told Book.

“Keep in mind that I beat you without my gear last time, and I’m once again without it. I may be an over planner, but on the spot fights are my specialty,”

Night Beast smiled as he started to walk on his legs and arms, and started to run towards Book.

Book took off his jacket and waited for him to get close. He knew that trying to strangle him again would be predictable, and with walls around it wouldn’t be as effective.

Night beast started to take larger and larger steps, leaping towards the boy with his claws ready to attack. Dust smiled, and she pushed a button on her wrist, releasing a sound that made Beast to fall on his knees and to cover his wolf ears.

“Beast, are you okay?” Book asked but Beast didn’t answer, “Moon?”

“Stay Back!,” Night Beast got up on his legs and roared in rage as he tried to fight the animal inside of him. Night beast walked on four as he walked around Book, growling on him.

“Dust, what have you done?” Book asked, seeing his cousin getting more savage

“I wanted to see his full potential,” Dust smiled, “I need to know that what we have here is not just a boy in a wolf clothing, but a real animal.”

“The preservation of others is clearly not high on your list.” Book said as he.gripped his jacket tighter.

Beast started to leap towards Book, ready to strike, but Book rolled before his cousin would kill him, “Moon fight it!” But the beast could not understand, he just looked at him, and he started to tear apart the floor and threw it on Book.

Book fell back as the large metal plate slammed onto him. He started to curse the fact that he was always fighting people with superhuman strength, but he knew that his life was on the line now. His first thought was to try holding him back with his jacket, but then he had to question how long would that cloth hold up. He knew that as long as he was trapped, he was dead.

Night Beast started to walk towards Book, ready to bite his head off, as Dust pushed again on the button and Night Beast faded away, turning back into Moon. Moon woke up and he ran towards his cousin. “Book, I am so sorry, I don’t know what…” Moon tried to get the plates off Book.

“Don’t blame yourself, we got stuck with the lousy teacher.” Book grunted silently as he tried to help Moon free himself.

Applejack quickly ran over and helped lift the heavy metal off of Book. Her attention then turned to Moon. “Are you alright?”

“I don’t understand what happened. I usually control those instincts, but for some reason, it was like I was pushed back from my own brain.” Moon turned in rage to Dust, “What did you do to me?”

Dust didn’t seem concerned about what happened. “I was just seeing how bad this beast is. Now I like what I’m seeing. As for you Book, it seems like your lack of magic is making you the weakest link.”

Book glared daggers into her. “You nearly got me killed you sadistic maniac! The next time you pull a stunt like that I’m going to show you personally how skilled I am at beating people up!”

Twilight seemed more interested at the contraption. “So, you’ve found a way to harness Moon’s beast form?”

“It’s more like an on and off switch. Canines have sensitive hearing, so using certain frequencies activate certain parts of the mind. I didn’t make it, but I was happy to test it.” Dust said with a grin.

“I am not some pet you will call!” Moon shouted with rage, “The next time you will do it, the beast will kill you!”

“If I don’t beat him to it!” Dash said, looking ticked as well.

Applejack looked worried as Moon started to grow fur again, “Hey, just relax, she isn’t worth it.” The fur slowly returned to Moon’s body as nodded.

Light looked terrified at all of this. He felt like he was in deeper than he’d ever want to be in this. “Forget this. I’m an autistic kid with no clue how his powers work, not a hero. I’m out. How do I get out of here?”

“You’re too deep in it,” A. K told Light, “If you out now, we must take care of you.”

“Are threatening my brother?” Book asked as his hands turned into fists, and Moon’s hands started to grow claws.

Light held his hands up defensively. “Listen, I’m the last person you’d want in the field, let alone with magic. I… I can’t do this. All I want is this… thing with my arm gone.”

“Light, most magic can only be obtained through magical objects. People with magic infused to them are rare. The Rainbooms have both, and you have the rarer one. You’re too valuable of an asset to let go.” A.K. Explained.

Light’s hands started shaking as he pointed at himself. “Let me explain… what kind of… nutcase I am. I’m autistic… I have problems learning… talking… being... Normal… I can’t fight… or…. Do…. This…” Light’s breathing became more stressed as sweat and tears were pouring down his face.

Book knew that this was a clear sign of him getting ready to have a mental breakdown. “Light, take a few deep breaths.”

Flash was holding a strange pin in his hand. When he closes his eyes, he could fill the same sort of power that he felt when he touched Pinkie Pie’s necklace. He just wished that his Cousin, HottenBright, could get along with her.

Before he could ponder that even more, he heard someone coming, without ever think, he looked around, saw the bush, and somehow, when he blinked, he was in the bush.

Flash was both confused, and relieved that when he teleported, he only expanded onto the place, unsted of fusing in it.

From the bush he could see Light’s brother, Book Knight, Pinkie Pie and her friends and also his new friend Light Heart. They were with the new lady, chatting about something that Flash couldn’t hear. The lady touched the status, and it open. The group stated to walk in. Flash wanted to join them, and started to stare that the statue, but nothing happened. He thought about it, relaxed, and looked at the statue ones again, and blinked his eyes. He did teleport next to the statue, but was a bit off of the opening. He quickly got in the statue before it could close on him.

Dust scoffed a bit. “Funny, some kid with a mental defect get awesome powers and goes crying away. You have to be the most pathetic kid I’ve ever met. I’m starting to doubt that you can do anything right.”

“That’s enough,” Wilde Shock told Dust, and he took her by the wrist, “I know your kind, making fun of others, but you came for our help.” Lightnings came from Wilde’s eyes as he spoke, “The next time you will insult any one of them, I will send 300 volts into your body, got it?”

Book noticed the tears running down Light’s face. “Yearling, there are other ways for him to help. Right now he needs to back away.”

“I think we call it a day,” Yearling said as she released Dust from Wilde’s grip, “Tomorrow, we will do real training.”

“Um, I think it’s too late.” Wolfy said as Light didn’t seem to be responding to anything. Wolfy was trying to shake Light’s leg, but to no avail.

“Call a medic,” Yearling told Dust and the girl ran away.

“It’s mental, not medical. I’d say call my mom… but I’m guessing that’s something that we can’t do here.” Book explained.

Suddenly they all noticed Light’s right arm starting to glow. Light arms kept shaking as he was yanking his hair. Book knew that he was only this bad once, and it ended worse than the time he was hiding in a broom closet. Before Book could try anything to help calm him down Light screamed and slammed his fists into the ground. Everybody was thrown back as the magic from his hand.

Flash stood behind the equipment when this happened, but tried to continue teleporting behind different things, trying to get a better look.

As the others got up, they managed to see a small crater where Light was standing. Light was crying into his hands. They could barely hear the soft whimpering of Light. “I’m worthless. I’m nothing but a freak. I just want the pain to end.”

Flash teleported in Light’s crater, not caring to stay hidden, and started to pet him. “Heey... Shh… that’s not true, you managed to help my little sister on her first day, in the first minutes of meeting her.”

“Look at me. Look at the people who I’ve hurt. I’m an idiot. This world would be better without me.” Light whimpered.

“And what do you think Shy would be doing right now if you weren’t around to be there for her, and give her that bear ?” Flash asked Light will think about if his sister’s doll would have life to.

“It hurts. I don’t want to be alone. I don’t want to be the mess I am.” Light said as he was still crying.

Soon Light felt another person hugging him. Flash looked up to see Fluttershy trying to help him with Light. “You’re not alone, and you’re not a freak. You’re just hurting.

Soon every one was giving a pat on Light’s back, but it was only Flash, Fluttershy and Book that was next to Light, hugging him.

Dust wasn’t giving the same sympathy. She grabbed Flash and picked him up by his collar. “Wait! What are you doing here? I ought to throw you into…”

Dust was suddenly cut off by a swift right hook from Wilde. “I’m not going to lie. That felt good.”

Dust quickly got up, looking ticked. “Did you just…”

She was cut off again by Book’s right hook, knocking her out. Book grinned a bit as he turned to Wilde. “You need to lean in with your body.”

Yearling looked concerned at the intruder. “Who is this?”

Flash still held to Light, will he turned to face Yearling l. “I’m Flash, and I’m not going to stand by while my new friend is hurting!”

Book stood up and kept between Yearling and Flash. “Listen, this is a friend of Light’s, and he just helped make sure that my brother didn’t go suicidal again. Right now he’s your best hope of keeping my brother sane, because if you kill him then Light’s going to blame himself. Do we have an understanding?”

Yearling looked at Flash, seeing how he manage to calm Light down, relatively quickly. “Fine… but this Teleporting Flash better join us!” She told both Book and Flash.

“Can we talk about it?” Flash asked her while getting up.

As Yearling and Flash want to another room to talk, Book stayed with his brother.

Fluttershy looked worried at the crying boy in her lap. “Is he going to be okay?”

Book shrugged. “I hope so. The last time he broke this bad… he nearly died.”

She gasped as she realized what Book was talking about. Che cradled his head in her arms as Light looked like a trembling child. Somehow she felt that the two people there who could help him through this was herself and Flash. Flash understood Light and was currently his closest friend, but she started feeling a connection between herself and Light. She started to see that Light was as scared and as nervous as she was. Maybe he just needed a little help from her. Almost as a sign to her he seemed to start calming down as she kept petting him. She blushed a little at his tired face.

Flash came back with Yearling. “So we agree, only me, his brother...” Flash saw Light in Fluttershy’s embrace, looking like he was at peace. “... And it would seem Fluttershy to, are to be the only one to ask him to do magic.”

Yearling begrudgingly agreed, if that was the only way to get Flash and especially Light to cooperate and join the team.

Light weakly got up, looking embarrassed. “I… I’m sorry.”

Dust slowly got back on her feet. “You should be sorry you little…” She was cut off by a backhanded punch from Book and Wilde at the same time.

Yearling merely sighed. “No, I’m sorry. I saw you as an asset and forgot about you as a person. I should have focused on helping you understand your power and keep calm instead of pushing you beyond your breaking point.”

Fluttershy and Flash kept close to him as Light nodded. “I forgive you.”

Yearling sighed. “Clearly we need to put more thought into your training, and we still don’t have much time to do it. Let’s call it for the night. We’ll discuss the mission later.”

Flash walked next to Light. “Should we stop at the sugarcube corner where Pinkie Pie works?” He asked Light, hoping that maybe something there could make him feel better.

Pinkie Pie jumped up and hugged Flash at the idea. “Yes, we can have a super secret don’t tell anybody spies party! All we need to do is head to my work, pick up some treats, and then head to Moon’s house for a secret slumber party!”

Flash was about to smile to the filling of having Pinkie Pie, one of hand-fulls of person that he was ok with having in his personal space, being some close to him. But he turned to look of that was what Light wanted to do, it was his that need to... Put a smile on his face. “What do you want to do Light?”

Light still looked emotionally exhausted, but he gave a small nod. “Sure.”

“We should get to know each other better if we are going to be a team. I’ll call dad and let him know that Moon invited us to the sleepover.” Book said calmly as he was checking himself for any cuts or scars.

“Do I get to come too?” Everybody turned to see Fuze walking in with a box.

“When did you get here?” Book asked.

“Well, after school I was bored, so I wanted to see if our new boss had a secret base here. Turns out that I was right. Yearling gave me access to the research and development lab and I made you all some basic goodies before we get into making suits for you all. Speaking of which, I’ll need your measurements.”

Rarity gasped. “A man taking a woman’s measurements? Well, I’ve never!”

Book rolled his eyes. “It’s kinda necessary.”

Rarity merely pulled out a paper from her purse. “I happen to know all of our measurements by heart.”

Flash pointed to him, Light, and Book. “What about the guys?” He asked Rarity.

“I only know Book’s. I’ll handle the rest at the sleepover. Now, who wants to see their new toys?” Fuze asked as he held up the box.

Flash looked at Light then back at his friends brother. “Ummm… what do you have for me?” He asked joking.

“Well, this is mostly general stuff. Watches for everybody. I made them in different styles, so they aren’t noticeable as spy tech. They look normal, but also work as communicators and GPS’s. We can also access Intel which Yearling sends us through it. Second, new shoes. I had to hack into the school’s supply for your shoe sizes, but I did it. They have a hidden blade inside of them for self defensive purposes and it’s a good place to hide stuff. Everybody still with me… because I’m hiding the fact that I didn’t expect Flash or Light to be here.” Fuze asked as he was handing stuff out.

Twilight looked shocked as she found the blade in her shoe. “This is how you use your free time?”

“This is some of his better stuff. I wouldn’t guess that these were useful at first glance.” Book said as he put on his watch.

Fuze grinned as he continued. “I also met this great girl named Trixie, and it inspired me to make these.” Fuze pulled a container of mints out of the box. “Smoke pellets. Don’t suck on them. I’m also coming up with designs for weapons specifically designed for our royal friend. I don’t know how tough he is, so it’s mainly ranged stuff.”

Yearling raised an eyebrow. “Like what?”

“Well, I needed somebody who knows about biology and chemistry to come up with some form of chemical to put him to sleep, but I’ve got a few more practical items in the woodwork. High strength grappelling cables, improved shock gauntlets, and a few others.” Fuze explained. “If anything I think we need a place to store an extra uniform, just in case the school is ever under attack.”

Flash lifted his hand. “My cousin, HottenBright, and Twilight could help with that”

“So can Sunset.” Twilight said. “Our Sunset, not the evil one.”

“HottenBright doesn’t know about this and shouldn’t. She has no magic, and we already are risking a lot with two kids knowing about this.” Yearling explained. “Use who you have and what you have.”

“Kids?” Flash was confused. “We are teens!” He looked around at the group. “And there more than just 2 here!”

“Fox and Stone know about it.” Book explained. “Fuze blew it when he found out about Yearling.”

“W.. WHAT?” Flash asked them. “How... Why… “ He was out of words.

Light’s eyes widened too. “You let them know?”

Fuze shrugged. “I gave them candy and told them to keep quiet. That should work… right?”

“And you didn’t think to ask me?” Flash asked Fuze. “Before giving them CANDY!” He tried to stay come, but now it was Flash that was having his panic attack.

Book rolled his eyes as he grabbed Flash. “Listen, they only heard a bit. They are kids, so it’s easy to lie to them. As long as Yearling doesn’t do anything stupid, we’re good. Nothing to worry about.”

“Yeah, and I didn’t give them too much. I gave them the hard candy that they have to suck on, so they’re not going to have any sugar rushes.” Fuze said calmly.

Got out of Books grasp. “When my family adopted them, I promised that I would keep true to my name, and always be FlashTRUTH!” He told them.

Pinkie hugged him again. “Great! Now we can have them join our party!”

“NO!!!” Light yelled. “I want them away from this craziness of… magic!”

Flash patted him on the back, happy to hear that he cared about his little sisters.

“And we’ll be talking about classified information and planning. We are not going to expose them to more of this then we already are.” Book said sternly.

“What if they also got magic powers?” Pinkie asked.

The whole group looked at her.

“Pinkie... Darling. The chances of them having magic, well it’s…” Rarity turned to Twilight, not knowing what to tell Pinkie.

“Not likely. I’m willing to look over this minor breach in security, but keep your sisters out of this mess.” Yearling warned.

Flash noted.

“Then it’s settled. Tonight, Moon’s house, meet up at eight o’clock.” Book said.

Applejack crossed her arms. “Hold on! Who put you in charge?”

“I have the most experience on the field. I fought battles that couldn’t be solved with friendship, but if you insist, we’ll vote tonight.” Book said sternly.

“Umm... I vote sugarcube corner!” Flash said.

Moon shrugged. “Why not both? We can head there to get treats, and then we can have a sleepover. I’m pretty sure my house could fit us all. We do need to get to know each other, and we can’t talk about… this in a public place.”

“Umm... Ok, I’ll just to stop home and get some of my stuff, like me P.J.” Flash told Moon. “What time? And are we having dinner?” He asked the group. “If so, S.C. C or Moon’s place?”

“We’ll all go home immediately to get our stuff, meet up at Sugarcube, maybe grab a few pizzas, then we’ll meet up again at Moon’s place. Any questions?” Book asked.

“Um... Yes, I have one” Fluttershy spoke up.

“Yes Flutter?” Twilight asked.

“We are having vegetarian? Right?” Shy asked.

Wilde groaned. “One cheese pizza for Fluttershy.”

“Alright, we’ll work out food at Pinkie’s work. Let’s get going.” Book said as he started walking out.

Flash followed, asking himself what he will tell his parents.

As the group left the facility of E.M. P, Lightning Dust walked aside, and she talked to her wrist, “Brother, the information is here, sending it now.”
